They had an early 80's entry level Yamaha priced at $350 which felt high, so I left and did some research at home. Sure enough, they go for between $200 and $280 dollars (Yamaha FG-331). Sure, I'll pay an extra $50-$80 to get a guitar I can actually play and check out... but I'm not paying $350 for a $200 guitar. I let them know the research I did and what the guitar generally goes for. And the guy just said, "ummm, ya. uhhhh that's just the price". Finally I had to ask who could decide if there's a give on price. "uhhhh, I mean, I guess the owner could". Instead of him volunteering to call him, I had to ask if he could call him. He did. I asked if they could come down to $320 cash... because I was by this time sick of all the back and forth even though $320 was WAY more than I should have paid for this. The owner on the phone agreed to $320 cash. Wow, 30 dollar discount. Then the guy rings me up for $339 dollars... like what? It's $320 cash. Meaning I hand you $320 which is already way more than this guitar is worth, and you hand me the guitar. I questioned him about it, and it was just like, "no, man... my boss would never go for that, we have to charge sales tax". Well, you could just call him to ask if that's what he meant. Sorry for the long and complainy review. But Traverse is a smaller town, and it's often hard to find something just right. After looking for a week, this guitar seemed to be the perfect fit. But the deal didn't happen over 19 freaking dollars. I was already willing to pay way more than the guitar was worth. I even showed the guy 8 different listings online that I had emailed myself. And the owner agreed to $320 cash. Don't buy anything from these guys without looking up the price. Or don't buy in general. Go on craigslist or marketplace.

We found that our very good Costco hearing aids needed servicing (Costco likes selling them, not as keen on service) and that the ear inserts given were the wrong sizes for his ears, which explained why he kept getting the umbrella thingys stuck in his ears. We left with clean ears, spiffed up hearing aids and some additional info on how to use them better. We'll be back! Oh, and did I mention that Tim and Candace are super nice, fun and friendly.
