This monthly farmer's market is the reason Crediton still calls itself a market town. I'll leave it up to the reader to decide if this is valid or not. The market sells very high quality foods and makes sure you know it with extremely high prices. I am not sure how many of the regular vendors are actually farmers, I have yet to find a farm that regularly harvests ceramic pots! And other regulars seem more itinerant local trades than farmers. Apart from the prices, which are ridiculous, the main problem with the market is that it is only once a month so you cannot make a habit of buying those things you are willing to pay a premium for and you are left to feel a little as though you are being treated to 'crumbs from the top table' once a month. I would rather use local farm shops that are more genuine and much better value for money. read more
