I have used Farnell for over 10 years. Service has always been great. Each year the technician lets me know the status of the units. As we approached 19 years of age, he suggested the units were nearing failure. I learned that Costco had a special on LENNOX units and Farnell's staff planned tge installation to account for the weather, got both units installed and I got a 15% refund from Costco. The new SEER 16 units have resulted in a 15% reduction in power bills in spite of Alabama Power price increases. read more

Farnell heating and air came to my house and charge me $162 to repair my air conditioning unit. When I woke up the next morning the unit was still not working. I called Varnell to complain and the lady hung up on me. I had to get another air conditioning company and pay another $400 to fix Farnell's mistakes. I then told farnell that I would pay for the service call but I didn't feel owed anything else since they did not fix anything else. Farnell would not agree to these terms. Farnell did not repair my air-conditioner but charge me as if they did. The people who work at Farnell are unethical and do not behave in a Christian manner.. I would never use them again. read more

I've used Farnell for over 10 years. Started after the original company that installed our units was bought out by a bigger, multi-state company and most of the employees changed. From talking with neighbors I've determined that Farnell's rates are on par with others in the area. I checked with Farnell on a whole house dehumidifier because I found the insulation in the home is so good, it doesn't let the HVAC run enough to pull out enough humidity for my liking. The estimate was reasonable but the technician suggested modest temperature adjustments to see if that would improve things. It has. My units are now 15 years old. The Farness technician (Paul) has told me they are maintaining well but don't expect them to last forever. An honest assessment by someone I trust. read more

We've experienced issues with our air conditioner over the past months and had to call them a few times for various issues this summer. The first time they had come over, they had just put freon in our system although the technician said it was fine--and had said our house was badly insulated and old. Then two weeks later we had called them to check our system when our AC stopped cooling on a Sunday--they did find the capacitor had blown. Then our system had worked fine for a couple weeks, and then it stopped cooling again periodically. We had called them in and all the technicians did was tell us to change the air filter and they put in a little freon and charged us a ridiculous amount of money for a small job. The capacitor change was cheaper. A few days later the system stopped cooling during the day again, and we called a friend of a friend who freelances, and all he did was clean the coils on the unit outside, and that was probably the problem all these months. So--I'm not so happy with Farnell. read more

I contacted Farnell to replace an existing water source heat pump a few years back. They replaced it with a new unit, FHP brand, and all was fine for four years. A leak developed in the air transfer coils on the unit in just four years. Meanwhile another AC unit failed completely, so I asked them to look into both systems. They told me the first unit was covered under warranty, and that they would get back to me with a quote on the other AC system while they were waiting on the warranty part. It was a month waiting for that all to be done. I never heard back from them regarding the other unit after a month, so I called another company to put in a new unit. They did it for much less than Farnell charged for the other system even though it required a lot more work, and did a beautiful job with electrical, ductwork, and outside unit, and offered to replace the coils on the first unit if I could get them from Farnell, and they would do it for half the price, around $650. To date, no reply from Farnell. I still have a third AC unit that needs to be replaced, and their chances of getting that job just went way down. read more

Farnell replaced my AC way back in 2010 but did a lousy job. The ducts leaked and the sections of the heat pump actually started coming apart because they used packing tape to hold it together. I swear to god they used this cheap tape because they ran out of the a. It took a long to realize why my bills were going up. I am not in my attic often so I didn't realize air was blowing freely. Also the condenser was installed in a location without enough room to work efficiently. I recently emailed to say how disappointed I was in their work and that they cost me a fortune in energy bills. I got a brief response but nothing helpful. I didn't expect them to repair it since it has been so long but I hoped they would at least be sympathetic. I followed up with pics and two basic questions to help me know what I should do. They didn't respond. Do not use these folks. They start off being nice but then start acting like it is hassle to complete the job. Although this is a small thing, they left a huge mess when they left. It indicates how much pride they take in their work. No wonder they have such a low rating on yelp. read more

We ordered a new furnace, the technicians were late, they were angry at the manager saying how could they be at the job site at 8 when they start at 8 and when they had to go and get materials first, unprofessional, complaining about each other to the homeowner, one stayed on the phone all the time,then they called us to the office, to sign paperwork, they wanted to sign us to a maintenance contract, when we refused and asked for an invoice because we decided to pay in full because we didn't want to keep dealing with this office due the unprofessional actions,The girls in the office told the owner something because he came charging at us saying he was the King around there and he was in charge and tried intimidating both of us and called for another worker from the warehouse to back him up. We told him we would go to the bank and get a bank check to pay in full and he tried to insist on going with us. We kept going to our truck on the street, then there was a police car that followed us to the bank till we turned in the lot. We returned with the bank check and gave it to the manager/daughter and she gave us a receipt. We will definitely not give a recommendation. read more
