At that time I did what I felt was the correct procedures and exchanged information with the other party, took photos, and talked to the police etc. I was able to get home and call the insurance companies again to get started on what was required to repair the vehicle and also what steps I needed to see medical assistance. But I was overwhelmed with the amount of indifference, apathy and confusion created by both insurance companies. The insurance companies were good about taking care of my car but were not helpful in providing me with assistance in navigating through the maze of personal injury care. I was so frustrated in trying to get medical care. I heard statements like, " you need to talk to the other insurance company " and statements from medical profession such as" we do not offer third party coverage" were repeated over and over. Then the paperwork started to accumulate, often in language I had trouble deciphering. It was then that I called Kelley & Canterbury who took over the paperwork, handled the insurance so that I could receive the care I needed, and took the frustration away! My case lasted two years, and they provided assistance throughout the two years, handling all my insurance claims and paperwork. My experience with this firm has been incredibly disappointing, financially draining, and…read moreemotionally exhausting. I initially consulted with Blake and walked away feeling heard, understood, and confident that my case would be handled with care. Unfortunately, my experience after paying the retainer was completely different. I felt that billing and replenishing my retainer became a greater priority than actually moving my case toward resolution. I repeatedly sent the same information, documents, and exhibits, only to be asked questions I had already answered--and then billed for the additional emails and time spent going over the same information again. What was especially upsetting was having to repeatedly explain traumatic events and provide supporting documentation, including police reports and medical records, only to later speak with counsel and feel as though important details of my case were not understood or incorporated into the strategy. Reliving traumatic experiences is difficult enough; being billed for repeatedly explaining them while feeling that the information was not meaningfully used made the experience even worse. Communication was another major problem. There were times I waited 7+ days for responses to important questions, while billing continued. I also experienced situations where I felt important information related to my case was not adequately addressed while I was being asked to replenish my retainer. A client should not have to continually chase their attorney for answers, resend the same documentation, or repeatedly explain the basic facts of their case while paying substantial legal fees. I hired this firm because I needed knowledgeable legal representation during an extremely difficult period of my life. Instead, I often felt like I was fighting the case myself while simultaneously paying thousands of dollars in legal fees. The difference between the compassion and confidence I felt during my initial consultation and the representation I experienced afterward was significant. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this firm. If you are considering hiring them, I strongly encourage you to carefully review their billing practices, ask exactly who will be handling your case, how responsive that attorney will be, and how your retainer will be used before signing anything.
