The staff and NP were courteous, kind, and put me at ease, right away. I was very likely overreacting but, they never made me feel that way.

On 08/27/2025, I made an appointment to see the Primary Care side of FastMed, our families primary doctor left the practice and we needed a new primary. I really like the ease a making an appointment online with FastMed so I figured I give it a try, I did notice the extremely low 2.1 out of 5 patient review score, but thought I'd give it a try anyway. Wow, what a mistake that was, ironically when I got home and started to actually "read" some of the reviews and many read as if "I HAD" written the review based on my exact experience! It is impossible for me to accurately describe in words my experience, you really had to be there and witness the behavior to get the complete perspective. I'm 52-yrs old and have never in my life walked out of a business, especially a medical facility! Number one that's rude and childish and is somewhat embarrassing as well, but I was absolutely floored with the attitude of the white female receptionist, it was quite obvious she either didn't want me there or she didn't want to be there! The exchange went as quickly as written below; Receptionist: Can I help you? Me: I have a 4:30 PM appointment Receptionist: I need your ID Me: This was my first visit to this place; every doctor and dentist I've ever been to also requires your insurance card to scan as well. So, I already had my ID and insurance card out and handed both to her. Receptionist: I only asked for your ID while dumping the insurance card off the top on to her desk, I then had to reach over the top counter to retrieve my insurance card off of her desk. I was so taken back that my brain had to catch up with what had just occurred, I didn't say a word at this point, thinking just get past this part. Just to be clear, the receptionist didn't put the insurance card back on the upper counter, she DUMPED it on her desk while saying "I only asked for your ID" in turn making me reach over the top counter to retrieve it. It's even more profound now rehashing it to put in words, how does someone like that end up dealing with the public, I guess the quick answer is the 2.1 out of 5.0 Yelp review! Receptionist: She then said to me, your co-pay will be this much and I handed her my credit card and she said "uh, you pay over there and pointed to a machine. There are no words to properly describe the rude attitude. Rather than create a scene in a medical facility I just gathered my stuff and walked out, without paying the co-pay. With FastMed being "For Profit" we are whole heartedly expecting to receive a bill in the mail even though services no were not provided, I will update on this. At that point there was no way on god's green earth I was going to trust my health with anyone at FastMed. The tone was extremely rude, as if I was stupid for handing her my insurance card and then credit card. Through our family's experience, the professionalism at the front desk generally is an example of the how the entire business is run. I should have listened to the reviews; there is an OVERWHELMING amount of negative reviews stating the same issue I had; rude behavior. If it's an emergency I would never suggest where someone should seek treatment, by if you are seeking Primary Care services I would steer as far clear as you can from this place. The best Primary Care providers build relationships, get to know their patients and ailments. I personally wouldn't trust FastMed Asheville with any my family medical health information and I darn sure wouldn't want to subject my family to that rude individual every time we called or visited the office, I'm not going to subject my kids to that. We have health insurance, so FastMed was guaranteed payment. What really ticks me off is that my heart medication is running low and I needed this appointment, but the fact that I still walked should tell those reading this TO STAY AWAY, at least for Primary Care. Unfortunately, with these "For Profit" medical companies it's never about patient care, but it's ALWAYS about turning a profit, we read about that daily with our local hospital in Asheville. It should be noted that I called the FastMed office about 15-minutes after leaving to speak with an office manager and to explain that we will not be paying for the appointment. Low and behold the same white female that I had just dealt with answered the phone, I simply asked for an office manager and she said "none are available" and then I asked if she could tell me when would be a good time to call back to speak with one and she said "I don't know that information." So, here we continue, either she is lying and there isn't ANY SUPERVISION like she implied, therefore that would explain the rude attitude and deliberately dropping my insurance because she "only asked for my ID." Lying, no supervision, what is it??? What I find disturbing, dishonest and misleading, is if you go on the FastMed website they give themselves a 4.8 out of 5 customer rating with these glowing reviews for the read more

I came here from Landrum to get a dot physical not very friendly people working here. when I got my med card back I found out the next day they wrote the wrong license number down I call to get it fixed they said the doctor that did the physical wasn't in and would be in Saturday. so I got up Saturday headed all the back to this place and they were closed no explanation why a complete wast of gas and time. read more

We brought our young daughter in for care for an infected foot wound. We are from out of state and it was challenging to find care that was covered by our insurance. The front staff was very helpful and polite. The service was very prompt. The nurse and physician were both very kind and thoughtful practitioners. I'm not sure if this is for the location that I have a problem with but I made an appointment at 4AM this morning to be seen at 8:25 AM today. After receiving at least 4 reminders via text and email I was just called and told that they wouldn't be opening today due to staff issues. This is an "Urgent Care " facility and clearly not a place that can be relied on. I'm in town for 2 days and they offered to schedule me for another day. Nothing urgent about that! read more

They should be called "Leisurely Pace Med." Literally NO ONE was here, and they make you stand while in pain to fill out around 30 pages of garbage. Then you wait... Then they take you into a room... Then you wait... Then they come in to take vitals after a while. Then you wait... I mean, it's better than CVS, whose "fast clinic" basically told us to go away, but yikes. Also, someone came in to ask about a Covid rapid test while I was here, and was advised that he would have to pay whatever his copay is as well as a full doctor exam fee. Ever since the pandemic ever customer service representative has acted as if the world owes them. This urgent care is no exception. Rude from the start. I can't even imagine if I dd not have insurance, and had to pay the full amount out of pocket only to be greeted by the two front desk associates that are at Fast Med. I hate to be a Karen, but I also cannot stand to be talked down to, especially when I'm suffering and feel vulnerable. Also, nothing fast about a two-hour wait. I'm so over feeling "well this is the best we can expect these days" about customer service. I worked as a public servant every day during covid and I certainly didn't get hazard pay, but still came out of it all treating people like they are valued. This time an arrogant male PA - he didn't want to "jeopardize his license" to write me a prescription for a ZPACK! Huh? I said this condition that happens every 1.5 years. I'm 67 - I know my history and body and what works. He knows more about me in ~5 minutes than my 67 years. I went here on two separate occasions, i called both them and my insurance company before hand to ensure I wouldn't be hit with an unexpected bill. Jokes on me.. I was. Urgent care billed my insurance company 270 dollars for a 3 minute visit claiming it was a stage 3 visit, they couldn't explain to be how one visit ( the one where they gave me ibprophen for back spazzems) was a stage 3 when the second visit where I received muscle relaxers was a stage 1 which my insurance company was billed 170 for. Both are astronomically larger then what they say there visits costs. So because I had insurance after my insurance paid there part I still had to pay 121 dollars for ibprophen and 70 dollars for muscle relaxers. They were unhelpful with my questions. read more

I guess you have to give one star, but I don't know if I would have given even that. Yes, the staff members were kind, but they kindly told people they didn't have time to see anyone. I was told to just walk in to get a pre-employment drug screen. I waited almost 2 hours to be seen. It took less than 10 minutes to get my drug screen done and sign the little tabs that sealed it up. I'm guessing there's only ONE care giver (Med Tech) in the back providing services. As an RN, I know what it's like to be busy, but I also know how to multi-task. I could have been in and out in no time at all BETWEEN all the people who had appointments-who I think were actually seeing some kind of provider. The sign on the door said no appointment necessary. Went in for a simple Covid test and would never use them again. Dishonest practices, lack of transparency around costs of services and a billing department that is notoriously difficult to deal with. Good luck trying to get a hold of someone if you have a question or dispute. After repeated attempts to contact someone in billing I called the local clinic and spoke to someone there. When I told her I was trying to contact billing she laughed as if it was a running joke and said yeah a lot of people are frustrated with them. Well that's true and I'm one of them. Took our 1 year old in with raised spots all over her body that were quickly multiplying, ( with a handful of other accompanying symptoms). The doctor was extremely dismissive, lacking compassion, care or critical thinking... He basically said "idk, could be bug bites, could be ticks, could be a virus", sent a prescription for topical antibiotics without a diagnosis, and pushed us out the door... Had an appt for a Covid test scheduled at 5:45. At 5:15 they rescheduled it to 6:45. At 6:45, they rescheduled it to 7:30. At 7, they said that they would be ready to see me as scheduled at 7:30. When I walked thru the door at 7:30, this is the exchange that I have with the staff person: (rudely) "We're not seeing anymore patients." "Oh, umm... I have an appointment that got moved back to 7:30." "WE'RE NOT SEEING ANYMORE PATIENTS!" Wow. Do not come here and waste your money! I came in with a migraine asking for migraine medicine. The doctor saw me for one minute and said I don't have a migraine, I get migraines I know what they are. The pros: staff was very friendly and I was seen within 5 minutes of arriving. The cons: I paid my 75 dollar copay but I received a statement for 10.69. When I called their billing department the woman who picked up told me (rudely) that that was my coinsurance. I am not well versed in insurance and I did not what that meant and when I asked her she (again rudely) said "I don't know". How can I trust that they are billing me correctly if they don't know what they are billing me. read more

We are on vacation and we thought our daughter may have a UTI based on her symptoms. When looking for urgent care, I was initially very concerned about this place because of the bad reviews. We made an appointment for 9:15 and were out by 10am. We were seen by a PA who was very understanding with our young daughter. They did a quick in house urine test and provided a solid treatment plan. Highly recommend this place for urgent care. read more

Update: have now spent hours on the phone with them and their billing department AFTER I PAID my bills since i got a call from a collection agency telling me I still owed money. Piecing together a picture of them having a record of my bills that have completely different balances and charges than the ones i was sent. Most people have tried to be helpful but no one seems to be able to understand a bigger picture of what the heck is going on let alone move in a direction toward fixing the problem. Lots of transfers and being told i need to fill out forms and then wait weeks for them to be processed all the while they set the ball in motion to wreck my credit. For the record, i realize dealing with any medical establishment would probably bring with it similar frustrations. But this is still bs. Ive visited this establishment 3 times for various issues because I had appreciated the advice of the physicians and thought they were knowledgable and kind. HOWEVER after the most recent visit I had some lab work done and found bills in my mailbox over the next month totalling almost $1000. This is after going in for what I thought was a very basic papsmear and was told they also thought it would be a good idea to run some 'bloodwork'. I have insurance, so really the bills were probably more in the realm of $2000 without insurance. This is totally unacceptable. I went in to have someone explain the bills to me, and though some staff members were helpful most had a very dismissive attitude and told me it wasn't their problem and I had to call 'billing'. And this is despite the fact that i was being quite calm and respectful, trying not to be an asshole even though I think I had every right to be upset and angry that no doctor had thought to mention the possible cost of all the labwork and to be sensitive to the fact that I am a young adult and huge, thousand dollars expenses are not by any means something I can handle with my income. I would have appreciated someone acknowledging that I was totally screwed and saying 'sorry no one told you the costs of the tests' instead of just being like, sorry were not sorry about your experience at all, sounds like a personal problem, we really have no intention of acknowledging any fault in the situation. Just because I had insurance didnt erase the fact that I would be responsible for many of the costs, something I feel like they dont recognize because its no sweat off their back. In conclusion, this place sucks and will screw you over all while smiling to your face. It was apparent in talking to the staff that they have these sorts of issues with patients and billing all the time so why they havent changed their communication policies is anyones guess. I went for a simple Rapid Covid test (checked in online). This would be my third since March and each time, it took a total of 10 mins, including waiting. Just before my appt, they send a text that the appt is 45 mins late. When I got there they said that they were "Out of Rapid Test". They could have told me this a day before. 3 HOURS more, later, still waiting and so was a mother with her 10yr old child. Had my foot cut at a nail salon. Went to FastMed to ask about getting a tetanus shot. They never even asked to look at the cut and when the woman came in to give me my shot she did not wash her hands. I asked her about the sign on the wall that said she should wash her hands and she told me she did it before she came in!! She was not concerned about it at all. Not a great medical experience, did not feel like they were competent or concerned. After I submitted this review I saw the response below asking me to email their customer service dept. Every time I have been to FastMed I have been attended to quickly. The doctors and nurses have competently diagnosed my problem and prescribed effective solutions. For fast, efficient and cost effective urgent care, FastMed is the place to go. It has been a much better experience overall than Sisters of No Mercy. read more

I went to this urgent care because I was new to the area and was experiencing a severe muscle spasm in my neck. I was unable to turn my neck in one direction and was forced to call out of work. This is an issue I have experienced many times due to damaged nerves in my neck and back diagnosed by a neurologist. I explained my situation and said that I probably just needed some type of muscle relaxer and it would be fine in a day or two. The doctor acted like I knew nothing about my condition and accused me of trying to obtain narcotics. I explained that I knew pain relievers would not help my situation but a simple non-narcotic muscle relaxer would probably do the trick like they had SEVERAL TIMES in my past. He continued to treat me like a drug addict and was very rude and sent me home with the advice to take Advil. THANKS!!! I left and went straight to Sisters of Mercy Urgent Care and explained my situation. Everyone there treated me respectfully and listened to what I had to say. The doctor there prescribed me with a 2-3 day supply of non-narcotic and non-addictive MUSCLE RELAXERS and my condition improved to normal in two days! I will never return to FastMed!, no patient deserves to be treated the way I was! What a waste of time and money!!! read more

Staff is efficient, friendly, and they know their stuff. I felt comfortable enough to open up with them about my situation/ailment (nothing sordid, I swear). They are understanding and listen. I did not have to wait long. Whoever has the most critical symptoms goes first- just like any other medical facility. There is a small waiting area for kids, they do general family care, and they give flu shots. My husband went in August of 2014 and he was there for a sore throat, which is no biggie, so he had to wait. He has never complained about the service. He has been to Urgent Cares in Asheville and Waynesville. Would definitely go here again if I ever had to. read more
