Radiology Review Only + Hospital Name Change…read more.. This place has once again, changed hands; the new name is, Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin (hmmm, why the Navicent?). Because my doctor requested an X-ray, and this is the only hospital in the area (eek), my adoptive daughter brought me here. Unfortunately, they're out of my Network, so it cost me $125.00. :-( But, the service was great, and quick (took longer to fill out the paperwork, than getting the X-rays). I was in and out in about half an hour (I was really surprised, as there were 4-5 other people already there). Everyone was professional, yet friendl, too What was I found amusing, on my way out, in the hallway, about halfway to the main lobby, the clerk who had checked me in saw me, stopped me, and asked me my last name. After 3 attempts, she still couldn't get it right. So, I said, "Anthony". And, the patient who was with her, said, "Definitely easier." LoL

I merely wanted to know if my foot was broken as I was leaving town for a few days & could barely walk on it. Sat , Sat, Sat waiting for x-ray results. Then told me was ok. When called back 4 copy of my report, Secretary was very helpful, however, report was not exactly as stated. It indicated if symptoms persisted to get MRI/ More definitive studies. Felt like I was treated as as 2nd class citizen .

Today I experienced a HIPPA violation at this clinic when the doctor came into my room (by the…read morelobby), did not close the door, and literally yelled that I had a communicable disease. She then asked me "what have you been doing for the last year?! Where have you worked?" With a tone and expression that conveyed utter disgust, as though I were responsible for getting this (non sexually transmitted) disease. I even heard the desk people talking about my insurance (obamacare) quite loudly, this time, with disdain that I could not afford better medical care. The doctor told me to contact the department of health and that my condition was not her responsibility. That's fine, it's not within her role to apply advanced medical knowledge. But she said it like she considered me a garbage bag for someone else to pick up. The doctors name was Audrey something. If I could read her last name on the papers she gave me, I'd post about her personally. You have one job, Audrey: to carry out medical treatment that shows patients dignity and respect. Fail.

They still do a good job to this day taking care of these mental patients. There just isn't enough of this in this country. Milledgeville is a very nice town with very good people and food. During the years the name of the institution changed as it grew; Georgia State Sanitarium, Milledgeville State Hospital, and Central State Hospital to name a few. Although no longer in operations the old buildings still stand; making the CSH a great place to drive through to see some of Georgia's dark and fascinating history. Although you are not suppose to explore the grounds or go in the buildings, there are a few brave souls that have since the hospital ceased operations. You can find many references online to CSH with some wonderful photos from the past to the present. So next time you are in Milledgeville take a ride to the southside and check out the Central State Hospital.

I had a very frustrating experience with Piedmont Urgent Care. Before receiving treatment, I…read morespecifically asked if my insurance was accepted. My insurance was verified at check in, I paid my copay, and I was told everything was fine. Based on that information, I stayed and received care. About a month later, I received a surprise bill for over $300 stating that my insurance was actually not accepted. Had I been told this upfront, I would have gone somewhere else for treatment. My issue is not just the bill itself, but the fact that I relied on the information provided by the office at the time of service. Patients should be able to trust the insurance verification process before agreeing to treatment. I would strongly encourage others to double and triple check coverage independently before being seen here, even if you are told your insurance is accepted.
