I go to school up north and come back to Saint Augustine for breaks. I've tried a lot of places in the area because I've never been quite satisfied with my haircut when I leave. This is by far the best haircut and experience I've had in Saint Augustine. Mike and Wade are fun guys to talk to and know what they're doing when it comes to hair. Wade cut my hair and took his time communicating with me beforehand to ensure he gave me what I wanted. As the haircut went on, if he thought of something to make the haircut look better he'd ask beforehand and he was right. My haircut turned out better than I expected and I was so pleased that I had to write a review here on Yelp and Google for the first time ever! If you're looking for a traditional barbershop with professional, personable, and knowledgeable barbers (and don't mind punk music and Americana tattoos) give them a try! Fat Cats Grooming House is DA BEST. Of course I go for the premium products, service, and styles, but mostly I go for Tiny Mike's great conversation and rockin' abdominal muscles. Over the years, Tiny Mike has expertly molded my man-tabulous mane of hair into something that even Donald Trump (the grand wizard of great hair) would be jealous of. Anytime I'm at a loss for appropriate action in my life, I ask myself WWTMDATPIT? and that is what I do. Problem solved. Be sure to ask for Tiny Mike, and also plan on asking him about his time living with the flirtatious and flatulent Buddhist Conquistadors in the dark and ancient realm of deep Quintana Roo. I have gone to the same place to get my hair cut for years, boring conversation and equally boring results, today was different. I went to Fat Cats Groom House, and I will definitely be going back. The conversation was awesome, and the place really had a great feel. I saw how well they treat their customers and the top of the line professional Barbers that these guys are. They take the time to do it right, and if you aren't happy, they aren't happy. Since this was the 1st new shop I had been to in years I didn't really know exactly how to explain to Tiny Mike what I wanted. The katz are the real deal. I showed up there for the first time with high expectations as I normally do and they superseded them. Wade gave me a low skin fade with the smoothness of Keith Stone. Cuts might be a little above the average cost than what you pay at the local Super cuts...but you gotta pay to play especially if you have a Vegas trip coming up or need to look decent at a funeral. The gents there also had some tips on current things going on in town, local watering holes, and even had a cold drink from the fridge waiting for me. 5/5 would definitely get my fade there again. My son and I have been going here for a few months now. All the way around, Fatcats is a terrific haircut experience. Making appointments via online is super simple. Excellent prices on haircuts and product. The shop decor is full of neat stuff to read. There's always a nice supply of quality beverages in the fridge. Our favorite part is listening to Mike & Wade's endless supply of barber banter. Always edgy, fun and very entertaining! If that's not enough, these dudes know how to cut hair. Stayed with these guys from Jacksonville to St. Augustine and the service is always impeccable and conversations hilarious. They provide a comfortable atmosphere and whether it's your first time in a barbershop or 1000th time in a barbershop they'll treat like you're a close friend. Mine was done by Wade, but the whole time mine was getting cut I was watching Mike cut a young mans hair and I must say they are both very good at their craft and very professional. Hands down the best barbershop in town. Super clean fades and styling. Wade took one look at my hair and informed me I had been parting my hair in the wrong direction based on my crown. I had no idea and I'm 36(never had a barber say a word before), now my hair lays properly and I don't fight cowlicks. These guys are subdued but fun, witty, and meticulous in their service. The place has an edgy feel with a little alternative rock and punk feel, which is nice and comfortable for me. They will listen and give you the cut you want. I highly recommend them. read more
