Such a cool spot! My son and I stopped into this place when I was craving some matcha and randomly googled a spot nearby when TA-DA! Fat Straws popped up. I'm glad we ended up choosing to visit place because my sons obsession with donuts is fo real! I had no anticipation of them having donuts, so it all worked out. He picked out a mochi donut and was completely satisfied. They're so fun looking too and kept saying calling it his bubble donut lol. My matcha was great! I ordered it with coconut milk and we were in and out pretty quickly. I love that they have curb side pickup as well. I'm sure they have moments in the day where they're busier to make that very convenient, but around 4:30 they were pretty chill. All around amazing, I'm so glad Fat Straw exists!! A chain restaurant located only within the Dallas area, for now, that specializes in mochi donuts. Called mochi donuts, for a chewy bite very similar to bitting into mochi. At the time I stopped by, they were doing flavor specials for the lunar new year. I got the pandan, black sesame, and ube flavored donuts, along with a brown sugar boba jasmine milk tea! Visually appealing donuts, with vibrant colors! The flavor was strong with the black sesame donut. If you like nutty flavors, then you'll like this one. Pandan was more subtle, I tasted more of the coconut than anything else. I still don't know what pandan tastes like. The ube one was my favorite, so sweet and pretty in light purple! On point tea with chewy boba. Fat Straws now offers the Instagram famous dalgona style coffee. I appreciate establishments that jump on trends quickly to offer high quality trendy items. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations of this place due to previous experiences at other franchises. The drinks were usually always bland and the boba was too hard. Fat Straws at this location has proved me wrong! I got the pandan (young coconut) mochj donut, Vietnamese iced coffee, and taro milk tea. Both drinks were flavored very well! The coffee was strong yet sweet, which I really enjoyed. The taro milk tea, which is typically too sweet at other boba shops, had just the right amount of sugar. I really enjoyed the mochj donut but the pandan flavor wasn't very prominent. I'm definitely coming back to try some of the other drinks and mochj donuts that they have to offer! Fat Straws is a cute place to grab a drink. We tried a few things here including the milk bubble tea, the jasmine mango tea and an Oreo Shake. My daughter really didn't enjoy the milk bubble tea, my wife thought her mango tea was just okay and my son loved his Oreo Shake. The inside seating area was closed to customers but I didn't understand why it looked like a tornado hit with tables and chairs all cluttered everywhere. Service was just okay. Not particularly friendly considering these are mostly high school aged kids and the recommendations didn't serve us well -- especially her recommending a bubble milk tea for my daughter when she was leaning towards a smoothie type beverage. I might come by once they reopen the seating area but for takeout drinks, I'll probably pass. read more

I am not a huge fan of Fat Straws. I work close by (walking distance) and have tried smoothies, boba, and their tea. The atmosphere is great. They have lovely decor with bright colors and comfortable seating. The service is good, but the drinks are sickly sweet if ordered normally. You CAN ask for adjustments in the sweetness of most things, but I normally just go order these things the first time I go, and at other places, they come out great. I don't like getting a normal order of something, and having it be so sweet, that it is intolerable. I have tried ordering less sweet, and they are fine, but not nearly as good as some other places I have been. The boba is the biggest issue. They use brown sugar boba, and it's gritty and just too sweet. Their smoothies are the same. If you don't enjoy sickly sweet, order 1/2 sweet. It's not just me either. My daughter went with some friends and hated it. Some of my clients have gone over and ordered things and did not really like it either. I will say that the mochi donuts are really good. I highly recommend those. Those are the only reason I gave 3 stars to Fat Straws. read more

I really enjoyed the flavor of the classic milk yea as well as the Jasmine milk tea (Jasmine more), however, I do wish they were colder. I come here for their mochi donuts. Mochi donuts are really popular in Asia (look up Mr donut!). This is the only place I've seen them in DFW. The matcha flavor is my favorite by far. Really delicious and hits the spot everytime. We tried matcha, churro and black sesame. Our least favorite being the black sesame. The boba is pretty good. We got the roasted oolong milk tea. It had a nice flavor of actual tea. The matcha boba was decent. The boba itself can use a little bit more sweetness. read more

I previously thought that I wasn't a fan of mochi donuts because I didn't particularly enjoy them when I had them at a different establishment. But you guys, the hype is real. This is my second time trying mochi donut, and it won't be my last. The texture is addicting--soft interior, lightly crunchy, and chewy exterior. Fat straws has changed their boba/tapioca pearls and switched them for non-flavored, hard to chew boba/pearls/tapioca bubbles instead.. the texture is like biting plastic balls, very hard to break.. ruins the whole drink and experience. I love boba type drinks so I decided to give Fat Straws a try. The store is bright, airy and cheerful. The employees greeted us warmly. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I got the strawberry pina colada and my spouse got the strawberry banana drink. We both got boba which is an additional charge, but so worth it. We also ordered the fruity pebbles donut. The drinks were good and sweet. The boba made the drink even better! The fruity pebble donut was awesome! I want another as I type. One day I ordered a lychee slush and put in the box "I love the bubbles (tapioca pearls) so much, please just load it up with as many as possible" (don't judge me - I was having a day) and when I picked up the slush it was PACKED with bubbles. After first trying the Bubble tea at TocoToco Boba in Plano I was blown away and got into the whole bubble tea wave. I was hooked so I came to Fat Straws because it's closer to me. Around that time they didn't even have Dalgona tea yet so I tried out another milk tea and wasn't impressed. The donuts were surprisingly good. The second time they finally started serving Dalgona tea. Special requested online that the dozen be split in into two boxes and they did just that. Don't come expecting these donuts to taste like American donuts because they won't. I was highly disappointed with the quality and taste especially for the price mark up for both of these drinks. There was absolutely no flavor, the drinks tasted like water with boba... I even had my roommates try the drinks and they said the same thing. Highly do not recommend going to fat straws after my visit. This place just opened up two weeks ago, and let me tell you, it's SUPER spacious. Apparently out of the four locations of Fat Straws, this one is the biggest (max occupancy was around 60 I believe). It's super clean and neat, with some couches as well as tables. The people working there were also very nice and friendly, and gave my friend and I samples of the milk tea and toppings since it was my first time there. Do try their mochi donuts!! They're so good and they make it fresh daily. They have eight different flavors I believe (I got the strawberry one). I'm definitely going back to work my way through all the donuts. read more

The bubble tea, great flavor and obvious high quality. The mochi donuts, unique and insanely addictive...you have to try one just to say you have, prepare to disregard your traditional donut cravings. The passionfruit is the best! Imo. I've been curious about the mochi donuts that I see so much on Instagram, so I had to make a stop here after a yummy lunch in Dallas. First off, this boba shop is huge compared to other boba shops. There's plenty of space, as well as seating for you and your folks to hang out, chill, work play games, etc. The space is very clean, bright, and colorful. Also, the lighting is pretty good here, for ya IG like chasers. I had my eyes on the mochi donuts, and I decided to try one flavor: black sesame. I figure that I should try a super unique flavor with this unique dessert. In addition, my dude got a coconut milk tea and I got a thai tea for the heck of it. The black sesame mochi donut was delicious. I loved the texture of this donut: slightly crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. The black sesame flavor was amazing to me, as it was salty and sweet - super unique! The milk teas that we got were pretty bland, however. I am not sure I would get teas again here, but perhaps I give it another try with a different selection. Overall, the highlight for me was the mochi donuts. I'm glad I finally had a chance to try and I would definitely would like to try more flavors, and get the black sesame again for sure! read more

Drinks are pretty amazing however compared to more authentic boba shops the boba itself is very bitter and not soft to chew. Beware the dalgona ( whipped coffee) coffee doesn't always blend well, and can be strong near the bottom. Super cool new boba place right next to UTD! It's extremely spacious compared to the other Fat Straws locations I've been to. They have speedy customer service just like the Plano location!
