As a Black woman- finding a Black GYN who made me feel genuinely cared for meant more to me than I can fully explain. I saw Dr. Okasi and immediately felt comfortable. She's professional, knowledgable, but most importantly patient & thorough. I've also been seen by Brittany Abbate, PA, for my annual this week, and she was phenomenal. She was professional, gentle, attentive and soooo informative on next steps that made the most sense. Lastly I truly appreciate Sami in the front office. I haven't met her in person to get a chance to really tell her this but she is a GEM! she's always quick in communication, emails, and text messages for any questions/ anything appt related. I truly feel like I finally a practice I've been praying for. I highly recommend Women's Wellness MD to anyone looking for compassionate professionals. (sorry for super long review but everyone is just amazing)

I remember telling Dr. Okasi to please use the small speculum before the exam. She nodded yes but said nothing verbally. As soon as the speculum was opened, I let out such a scream! I'm sure people in the waiting room and other parts of the office heard me, especially since this office has walls that don't connect to the ceiling (open concept). At no time did she comfort me, nothing like "breathe. Take a deep breath" or "are you ok? It's almost over". Nothing at all! I truly suspect she used the large speculum. Maybe she didn't like being told what to use. All I know is I've never yelled liked that in any of my previous examinations with other MDs. I was so embarrassed to the point that I apologized after the exam. And I shouldn't have, thinking back. Why did I apologize for pain inflicted upon me? That's why I wanted the smaller speculum! After getting in my car, I said to myself I'm never coming back here. Dr. Okasi's bedside manner was so so poor, to say the least. And the staff is not memorable. Believe what your patients tell you. We know our bodies more than you do. And if something doesn't make sense, then ask us questions for clarification.

If so, I do!…read more I moved to Baltimore almost 2 years ago when I recently found out I was expecting and needed to find a new doctor that was accepting patients, so I didn't have to drive 45+ minutes to my existing doctor. I'm not a fan of picking doctors at random, especially this kind, but I didn't have many options. After my first call to their front office, I knew I was in good hands. The receptionist took the time to introduce the office, tell me about Dr. Bonsu and set up my first appointment. It's been smooth sailing ever since! Dr. Bonsu is so nice and personable. She almost feels like a friend; albeit, a friend that looks at your lady parts! Unfortunately, Dr. Bonsu wasn't the on-call doctor when I had the baby, but she has handled all of my prenatal, postnatal and other checkups with ease and even called my hospital room to check on my labor. She really does care about her patients! I have to deduct one star though, as I have had to wait to see the doctor, sometimes in excess of 30 - 45 minutes (especially with the late afternoon appointments). I know those things are often beyond her control and she apologizes profusely, as she knows your time is valuable too. I just try to schedule morning appointments when I can now.

Love being the first to review a great you-need-to-know business…read more There are certain non-negotiables for me when looking for a new doctor: the ability to book online, access to a patient portal, a detailed website with a photo of the provider, and open availability. Dr Gueye and Visionary Women's Health checked all of these boxes and more. It was easy to request an appointment via zocdoc and fill out new patient paperwork online - from start to finish, it was an extremely seamless process. The most important factor of all, however, is the doctor's knowledge and bedside manner. While my preventative visit was short, the conversation with the doc was informative and reassuring. Completely trusted Dr Gueye right away and felt safe being in her care. This is hard to find nowadays (a sad reality about our healthcare system), so I'm glad I discovered VWH.

I first came to this practice on the recommendation of my primary care physician, who advised that I see a new gynecologist. Previous testing earlier this year showed that I needed to be assessed for possible endometrial cancer and possible unrelated cervical cancer. To address this Janis Logan, a nurse practitioner at Visionary Women's Health, gave me a biopsy of my endometrial lining and a colposcopy which turned out to include several biopsies as well. I've been dealing with these cancer scares for a couple of years now, and Janis Logan explained to me what's been going on with my body and my previous test results more thoroughly and clearly than anyone has to date. The procedures were painful, but she was caring and walked me through everything she was doing, and she even asked me if I wanted the nurse in the room to hold my hand when things got especially tough, which is something I had never been offered before during painful procedures such as these, and it helped to ease the situation a great deal for me. It is clear that this practice puts thought and effort into making women's health not only effective, but also comfortable and accessible (they accept my medical-assistance insurance). After the appointment, Janice Logan let me know that she would be having a follow up TeleMed appointment with me after the results were in to let me know the findings and if I would need a followup procedure such as a hysteroscopy or ultrasound. Because I was waiting to find out whether I had two different types of cancer, I called in about a week to see if the results were in and was told that not all of the results had come back yet and that someone would call me when they did, and I tried again at week two and was told the same thing and was given the additional information that it can sometimes take as long as three weeks for the results to come back. Almost four weeks later I still hadn't heard anything and I was back at the practice for another appointment for an unrelated problem and an appointment for my mother, and I requested that someone speak to me about my test results while I was there. I was told that the practitioner would speak to me about it after my appointment, and then I was given the update that she would speak with me after I attended my mother's appointment with her, and then I was given a third update that the practitioner would call me after I got home. I did not receive a phone call after I got home nor did I receive a phone call the next day. I called again the day after that to ask once again if I could speak with the practitioner to find out the results, and the person taking the call spoke with the practitioner herself and then came back to tell me that a nurse from their practice had already sent me a two-sentence message four days after my procedure was done saying that the results of my biopsy were normal and that I was to call if I had any questions. I explained that I had called several times since then and was told that not all the test results were back, as well, I did not know which of my biopsies that written message was referring to, and so I asked the person on the phone does this mean that the test results were negative for endometrial cancer and negative for cervical cancer, and she replied that she was unable to answer that question, and I once again said that I would like to speak to someone who could answer that question. She told me that the practitioner would call me before 12 noon that day to let me know about the cancer results, which did not occur. She also volunteered that I should request to speak with the head of the practice, Dr. Amy Gueye-Weinstein, to address the problems I was having in getting my results. When I had not heard from the practitioner by noon, I called to request that Dr. Gueye-Weinstein call me, and the person I spoke with said that she would have her colleague, Dr. Gueye-Weinstein, call me and also added that she would have the practitioner I hadn't heard from to call me as well. Neither of them has called me. More than four weeks later, I still don't know whether I have either one of these cancers. I also still don't know whether all of my test results are in, whether I need any additional procedures, or why no practitioner is returning my calls. Update: They had the results, which indicate that I don't have cancer, just 4 days after my procedure, which was before my first phone call. I still haven't received a return phone call.

After a complete hysterectomy and minimal follow-up treatment (without radiation), I enjoyed three years of clean health. Then in 2018, I started having digestive issues, acid reflux, insomnia, burning sensations in legs, abdomen, back and face. I was probed, scanned, had multiple blood tests and referred to many specialists. My auto-immune thyroid numbers were through the roof, I was told I was under stress and that I should try counseling. I was prescribed medication for the acid reflux, medication for sleep and told that eventually I would need to be on medication for my thyroid as well. I used the acid reflux meds for two years, and tried the sleep meds to no avail. I was a mess, my symptoms were getting worse and were a huge disruption to my life and I refused to accept the fact that taking medications were my only way forward. While reading an article in one of my local magazines about boosting your immunity through natural remedies, I was introduced to Dr. Ashley Russell, who was a contributor to the article. I decided it was time to forge a new path. The discovery that her office was only five minutes from my house was a sign from the universe that I had to go and see her. To keep this story brief but poignant, Dr. Russell ran tests that none of my other doctors even thought of and was able to figure out the root cause of all of my symptoms, which she treated gently, using natural supplements, nutritional guidelines and suggestions for mind/body practices. Slowly but surely, all of my symptoms quieted down (and went away), sleep returned and my thyroid numbers came under control. Dr. Russell treats the whole body, not just the symptoms. She gives you the time to speak, she takes the time to listen and learn about you as a person. She cares about your whole body health and not about selling quick fixes or products in general. Dr. Russell helped me regain my quality of life and since 2021, Dr. Russell continues to be my first choice when it comes to my healthcare.

From the beginning, Dr. Russell understood my concern and understood why it was important to me to find more natural solutions to address the issue that I came to her with. From the very beginning, Dr. Russell's approach was different and refreshing. At our first meeting we discussed the reason why I initially sought her care, but then discussed where I was at as a person and uncovered that I really had multiple goals that I was wanting to address. She ordered a health panel and carefully walked me through understanding all the numbers---something no doctor had other done before with me. She answered all my questions thoughtfully and provided resources to help me better reach my personal health goals. The other thing that Dr. Russell makes clear from the beginning is that she wants you to be an active participant in your health and she really means it. She doesn't get offended when I ask questions and doesn't think that I am questioning her expertise or professional opinion. She understands how important it is to me to be involved and fully understand different options, and she facilitates this understanding. In short, Dr. Russell is a truly caring health professional that fully supports her patients. She is respectful, non-judgmental, attentive, and smart. To Dr. Russell you are not a number, but actually a person that she truly cares about. She remembers what you talk about from visit to visit and helps you be accountable toward reaching your personal health goals. During COVID, we have been having virtual telehealth visits that have been seamless. I feel very fortunate to be one of her patients and cannot recommend her highly enough.
