I had tried macaroons in France and in the US, but I had never been impressed. The macaroon from la Maison du Chocolat was so light and just melted in my mouth, "lighter than the air" as they say. She told me that all of the macarons are filled with a chocolate ganache, which I thought was very interesting. I got the Venezuela ("Dark Chocolate with a Woody Note" and Pistachio Macaron. The Venezuela was a dark chocolate which I loved, although I didn't really get the "woody notes" The pistachio flavor wasn't super strong and balanced well with the dark ganache. for upward of 3 euros each, these are definitely more of a treat than an every day snack, but I will be back next time I'm in Paris!

A Korean woman is the chocolatier and she is obviously skilled at chocolate artistic sculpture for festive events. But it is her fine chocolates that dominate the candy case - which catch my eyes. I find an Asian sensibility pleasing in the variety of filling/flavor choices. After having several samples of chocolates and a house made macaron, I bought an assorted chocolate box. Yum! The boutique itself is like a small candy box filled with treats - nice ambiance. With the lab in the back, the chocolates are as fresh as can be. Next time I'm in the Montmartre neighborhood, I'll be stopping by again!

They also overcharge quite a lot and it cost us €26 for 8! Had better ones at Pierre Hermé. Vanilla - Simple and delicious! Would have loved to save this one for the end to end on the best note. Rose - really really good! Flavor was nice and perfect amount of sweetness. Probably my favorite among them all. Pistachio - I usually always love a pistachio macaron but this one was just normal. No wow factor or anything. Raspberry - I had High hopes for this one but the filling was like a raspberry jam and didn't go too well with the macaron shell. A bit too overpowering. Orange Blossom - subtle but delicious. Not too strong of an orange flavor, but it was really nice overall. Lemon - horrible! It was actually bitter like lemon zest. I needed water to wash down my mouth after this. Passion fruit - too tangy. It was possible but I would not buy this.
