The facilities are really well maintained, from the outdoor fields to the indoor facility - which gives kids a good option in inclement weather. (Certainly not comparable to the outdoor space, but gives some options for camps especially.) Really all of our "negative" experiences have been around weather, which you just can't control for an outdoor sport. We had quite a few rain-outs this last season and there are only 3 days of make-up games in the schedule -- but that was made clear up front and you have to understand they've got other things to plan in the future and can't just extend the schedule forever. But even in the weather delays, communication was crystal clear and they did everything they could to balance kids' safety with not overreacting (a thunderstorm at noon didn't affect a 5:30pm game - they waited until shortly before the game to make the right call based on conditions at game time.

They hosts camps, tournaments and little league practices and games here. It has two private parking lots (North and South) that fills up very quickly when there are large events or lots of practices going on. You will find an overflow parking lot across the street. It has 32 fields. But all are not the same size they have smaller fields that are designated for younger children. The fields are well marked and it is easy to find the filed that you looking for. There are no bleachers here, so be sure to bring your own chair if you plan to sit. There is also a snack bar, a shelter with picnic tables under it, some very nice rest rooms and an indoor facility. On busy days, you will find a few food trucks on site. The grounds are very well kept and the staff there is very friendly and helpful. There is no smoking, alcohol, or pets allowed at the complex. I like this complex. It seems to be well managed, looks great and my little one has a great time when he plays here.

The park was created to provide outstanding venues for Grizzly intercollegiate athletic programs for NCAA Division III competition and to encourage health and wellness in the campus community and Johnson County. The park is open to the public and has a very nice 10-court tennis complex. They are very well maintained. There is also a decent Track and Field Complex on the property. It has a quarter mile track and the other equipment need for field events. The park's softball/baseball complex consists of 3 very nice and well-maintained fields. The park also features a huge and nice paved walking path that goes around its perimeter. I saw people out walking their dogs on while I was there. The park borders the college and a neighborhood who has a direct path to enter the park through. The park is not short on green space. There is a huge field with moveable soccer goals. The field can be used for field sports such as football, soccer, field hockey, flying a kite, or just hanging out. The park's parking lot is huge which would be suitable for a big softball tournament. You will find a decent sized shelter/pavilion with picnic tables under it near the main ball field. This is a nice low-key park that is primarily used for walking around the trail, walking a dog, or doing field activities. Outside of sporting events, the park does not get a lot of traffic, so if you are looking for a low-key place to hang out and do some fitness activities this could possibly be your place.

It kind of blends in with the pavement. As far as amenities go, it has a softball field and two large fields that can be used for football/soccer. I also has a gazebo and a covered pavilion with picnic tables and grill that is available for rent, two separate playground areas and two full basketball courts. The park currently has construction going on right in front of the entrance and is nestled between 2 neighborhoods. There is a huge ditch with running water running down the center of the park. Good luck if you get a ball in there. The park has two bridges that cross over the ditch. There is is running trail that runs through and another one that runs in front of the park. The one in front is longer. The one in the park looks like it just connects the two neighborhoods. The park has ample parking available in its private lot. Fun fact: The park serves as the southern border for the Tracy Trail System. There is a playground that consists of a small jungle gym contraption with a couple of slides coming out from it. The other playground has a larger jungle gym and some swings. The equipment is a bit older, but in good repair and well maintained. The playground floor is lined with wood chips. The basketball courts are decent. All the rims have nets, and the courts are clean. They are not like the modern courts that have been popping up at new parks, but they are well maintained and get the job done. The park has seasonal hours and a seasonal restroom facility that is not operational during the winter. This is a nice park, but limited as far as what other parks offer. It is a good spot for those in the local neighborhoods to shoot some hoops or take the kids to the playground.

The East side has a shelter and grill, while the west side has a gazebo with a grill. The entrance to the park for visitors outside the neighborhood is on the eastern half. It has a decent sized private parking lot, a basketball court, a baseball field, a covered pavilion, restrooms, a playground and 4 soccer fields. The park is relatively well maintained. In other words, it is ok. It currently has some construction going on in the front by the parking lot. The basketball court is very in bad shape. It appears to have had some patch work done which has since come apart. It looks really bad, but is playable. The baseball field was very muddy, probably due to the park's poor drainage. The park's covered pavilion is co-located with restroom facilities and has picnic tables under it. There are grills right outside the pavilion. The pavilion is available for rent. The soccer fields are the best maintained aspect of the park and appears to be used as part of a youth rec league. The playground is relatively small and consists of a jungle gym with slides. there is also only one toddler swing. The play area's ground was covered in wood chips and dirt. The park has a small paved walkway that can be used to run or jog up and down. The park is not as popular as many other area parks, outside of recreation baseball/softball and soccer. The park is mainly a sports park, with a fenced skate park, basketball court, a baseball diamond,…read moreand several flat areas that look like they are soccer fields. Since the park is located next to an elementary school, it appears to have a convenient location for school activities and access to some parking on the east side. Other amenities include a shelter with picnic tables and restrooms, a single grill for charcoal, playground equipment and lots of overhead lights for the fields. However, the park has not had the benefits of access and design. The west side of the park has a large (and convenient) parking lot which has a single access road from the neighborhood on the west edge of the park. If you go when there is not an event, getting in and out isn't that difficult. But if there is a soccer league playing and lots of folks try leaving at the same time, this can become a real bottleneck. Also, the neighborhood itself is one designed with lots of curving roads, so unless you are familiar with the side streets, it can be quite challenging to find. (The best way is to come from Meridian Street to Park Drive and follow Park Drive to the lot. Note that Meridian is only accessible from County Line Road to the north or Main Street to the south.) Another problem is improper drainage. During my visit, the playgrounds and the walkways had numerous puddles deep enough to thoroughly soak your feet. I understand that building in lots of drainage is an expensive proposition, but be aware that if you stop by after a rainy day, you may have limited access to the equipment. Review #505

The women's restroom was clean, had three stalls, including a handicap-accessible one, and was easy to locate thanks to the clear directions. The store itself is well organized, and the stadium-chair section was conveniently located near the restrooms. We found a great variety of stadium chairs, from large cushioned options around $60 to several other sizes and styles to fit different needs. The selection and pricing felt fair for the quality. I had a $1500 soccer order I needed fill, with the potential of much more business. She told me no problem on getting it filled within 7-10 days. I sent the order over and 4 days later she contacted me about a problem in the graphic. The graphic was resent to her within a few hours on the very same day. I had sent her several email correspondences, which were ignored. I finally had to call the office, I did get Michelle on the phone, and was told the order would be done the following week. Fast forward 2 weeks later and I still had no order and no communication. Finally, after threatening to cancel if she did not communicate to me, she emailed me back, saying she could not complete the order at all. So it was a total of a month wasted for her to ultimately tell me she could not complete the order. A week later I Found a new company to fill the order. A week after that Michelle emailed me back and told me she would have the order filled the following week. This was 2 weeks after she told me she could not fill it. Needless to say, there was a complete breakdown of communication. It is shame that this business isn't ran more smoothly. The soccer club that I am a a part of could have provided her company with a significant amount of business. Please do not waste your time on this company and give it to someone who actually wants the business.

The Historic Artcraft Theater, where their popcorn is INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN.:)…read moreI had a delightful evening at this well-loved theater, catching Hitchcock's classic, Dial M for Murder. The theater retains its historic charm- don't expect reclining seats with cup holders and a food menu. Or the latest blockbuster. There's some preshow shenanigans instead of previews; a raffle of prizes themed to the movie, a game for the farthest traveled attendee and schticks to go with it. That popcorn line was one of them. The national anthem is played and everyone is invited to sing along, followed by a cartoon. Movies are shown via projection so expect some skips, lines and snags. I loved the nostalgia of it! The volunteers were wonderful, welcoming me as a first time attendee, giving me a quick run through of where to find the restrooms, entrances, concessions and bar. The same volunteer also caught me after the movie to ask about my experience! The bar serves beer, wine and a short list of cocktails including a drink of the night. The popcorn is locally grown and the concession prices the lowest I've seen. Free refills are offered on all popcorn sizes! I had a great night at The Historic Artcraft Theater and look forward to more shows there.

My original review of Franklin, Indiana's 625-seat Historic Artcraft Theatre was my 1,000 Yelp…read morereview. After attending a Heartland Film Festival event here this weekend, I decided it was time for an update. The Artcraft is located directly on Main Street in downtown Franklin. It's the marquee project of Franklin Heritage, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to historic preservation and a sublime example of how you bring an old theatre to life. The Artcraft has been on town square since 1922 and is built in an art deco style. It was originally used for Vaudeville and silent movies. It was one of the first theatres in the area to offer "cool air" and operated for 75 years until shutting down due to the growth of multiplexes. The theatre had renovations in 1936 and 1948. In 2004, Franklin Heritage purchased the building and launched a $500,000 campaign for renovation. Since my original review, seating has improved and you can definitely see some updates. The building still has a full stage and orchestra pit. Heartland works collaboratively with Artcraft at various points including its "Best of Fest" events. The traditional marquee is still present. Movies here are primarily 35mm. Accessible? Don't expect perfection. The building is over 100-years-old and it won't be made perfectly accessible. Not possible. However, it's surprisingly good and there's no question a wheelchair user can attend events and enjoy the auditorium. Heck, with assistance you can even get on the stage. There's a single-user bathroom on the main floor that is accessible. The doorways are wide enough. The second-level of the building is not accessible. The auditorium reminds me a bit of Old National with a pretty serious slant. As a wheelchair user who knew what to expect, I definitely took my wheelchair with brakes. The front row is nearly flat, however! While you might be thinking "I don't want to sit on the front row," it's actually not bad due to the orchestra pit and traditional stage. It's not like a multiplex where you're looking up at the screen. I got the chance to chat with Bob Blake - whom I believe is the President (either of Artcraft or Franklin Heritage or both?). Event prices tend to lean affordable. Concessions are the same and you have some unique stuff here like candy cigarettes XXX Root Beer on tap, Norton Farms popcorn, Pepsi products, and popcorn refills are free. They note that their popcorn is popped using coconut oil and flavacol - an option butter topping is soy-based. Volunteers are friendly and there's no doubt the Artcraft skews toward family entertainment. And yes, they do the national anthem before each event. It started during the late 1980s and has been consistent since then. It's typically led by an old timey reel of the national anthem being played. You can rent the Artcraft along with an adjacent house called the Artcraft Cottage. Oh, and the traditional marquee is still there. I've noticed that they do a lot of author events with Franklin's Wild Geese Bookshop. Kate Bowler has been here once and has an event coming up here next month on her "Joyful, Anyway" tour. And yes, they do actually have a bar area - they are strict about ID. They serve beer, wine, and limited cocktails at all evening shows (after 5pm). I really love The Artcraft. Franklin really loves the Artcraft. It's an ideal one-screen cinema for a small college town with a population just over 25,000. Nearby parking is available. There's a lot across the street (it's a county lot - follow directions) and lots of street parking. While "accessible" parking isn't necessarily plentiful, it's easy to find and drop-offs are welcomed.
