They melted my bracelet and didn't say anything at pickup. I guess they hoped I wouldn't notice? Brought the bracelet in for chain shortening. Chain was broken when I got it back (my husband picked it up and it was intact, so this specifically may not be their fault) and they had lost the extra piece (they gave me a scrap of chain to replace it, not an exact match). Bracelet was also shorter than I requested. They gave a discount on the chain repair and said they would get it to the right length for free, but one of the charms was melted and messily repaired when I got it back. The bracelet was also unevenly spaced between charms. Tried to file a claim with my jewelry insurance and credit card. Both denied. Now I'm out $400 for the bracelet and another $400 to replace it. I will say they are nice people at Fay, but I will be looking for a more trusted jeweler for repairs. read more

Went to this place a couple years ago to get a solid gold chain made to my liking. I paid it to be 1 ounce 24k gold 24 inch chain. At the time Ali texted me the receipt and it seemed like he didn't have it, or couldn't do the job because he kept telling me that he had other chains but I really wanted one to my liking especially if I paid for it. It ended up taking longer then I expected and he said he had other chains I could look at so I thought well if it's at least real gold I will take it, (because it always keeps its value in gold) I took one that looked pretty nice. Anyways fast forward to now with gold going up I thought maybe I should get my chain checked out to see if it's real and sell because money is tight, when I went to get it checked today to see if it's real the guy uses a XRF gold tester on it and it says copper and zinc. WTF! Not only that but it's only 19 grams not 1 ounce like I paid. Turns out not only is it fake but it's 9 grams less than 1 ounce. And in gold that's a lot of money. I totally got scammed!! I also went to another gold and silver dealer and they also said it was fake. I paid the price of real gold not fucking copper and zinc! I still have to receipt and the text messages to prove it as well. I would advise every single person to never give this place a penny, they are scammers and make good money doing it. I first went to Fay many years ago when I got engaged to my then-partner, who'd gotten me a lovely vintage ring which needed resizing and prong retipping. The Yelp reviews did not steer me wrong back then - we (a lesbian couple) were treated well, the older gentleman was very kind and courteous, and the work was done very well and pretty quickly, at a very reasonable price. So, last year when I needed some gold/diamond custom work and some sterling silver repair work done, I was really glad to be able to find them again, and to see that they did work on silver jewelry. When I went in and said that I'd been there years ago with an engagement ring, the same older man was already nodding and saying he recognized me. He might have just been saying that for sales reasons, but he did seem very sincere! I got some vintage silver earrings repaired, and had a genuine diamond that I already owned set into a 14k nose stud that had come with a CZ, and was once again very happy with the work and the prices (just $40 for the stone setting and prong reinforcement on the nose stud). I was hoping they could get me a quote on a tiny turquoise stone to replace one that had fallen out of a little silver unicorn ring my grandmother had given me when I was a child, but they weren't able to source one; they did clean/polish the ring and round out the bent band for me though, at no charge! I also sold them some gold jewelry I no longer needed, and they gave me a good price. They even advised me on one piece that, because they only buy the gold and not any gemstones, I would likely get a better price for it by selling online instead, and I really appreciated that honesty. I thought I had posted a review for them last year, so I'm glad I looked them up again today, planning to go in again, so I could share some deserved praise of this small business! read more

Oh my gosh. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the jeweler here. I have had my wedding band for nearly 20 years. It is a channel set band with round diamonds. Years ago I had a diamond fall out and another chipped. Plus, I've had 4 children since then so my knuckles have swelled up a couple sizes. My engagement ring is a matching tension set diamond. When we purchased it over a decade ago, I was told it could not be sized because of the setting. For years, I've wanted to have them repaired and resized, but had been nervous. Finally, we took the plunge, went on yelp and found Fay Jewelers. Our visit yesterday was meant to just feel out the environment. But, the price quoted to replace the missing diamond, rhodium dip, resize and solder the rings together was better than I expected. Plus, the customer service was phenomenal. I expected the rings to be done and ready late this afternoon. But, just a few hours after dropping them off, I received a call that they were ready. We went today to pick them up and the work is absolutely breathtaking. The jeweler is obviously passionate about his trade and exceptionally talented. I went to another jeweler prior to this one with my boyfriend. He had a ring which needed sizing and that jeweler was unable to do it in such short time since we were leaving the next day. I called this place because it's on my way home, and they said they'll see what they can do. We got there pretty close to closing and not only did they size ring on the spot, but they also sold my boyfriend on a beautiful cuban link bracelet. They are really amazing people. The bracelet was too big so he needed links removed, It was past closing at this point. They stayed there for us so their people in the back could remove the extra links. When I got to this worst jeweler I've ever visited there was no other customer. There was just one old guy in the store doing nothing. He didn't even greet back. Decided to try them out. I had my solitary diamond from my wedding ring reset into a vintage setting. They took measurements to size my finger, went over the cost and offered (for an added fee) to recoat my 14K ring in like metal to cover the wear marks and scratches. I picked it up and was thrilled with the results. The workmanship was A+, the stone was mounted perfectly, the ring was shiny and like- new. Their pricing was fair too. Guess who can cut off a stubborn black jade ring? Fay Jewelers that's who! Before I had used their service, I've tried other at-home methods such as soap and water, oil, lotion, and elastic band/dental floss in order to save my ring. Atlas, I could not. All those methods were major fails, and all I got was a swollen cut finger. I lived with that swollen cut finger for six days before I gave in and went to Sutter Urgent Care. Yes, you read that correctly. I went to Sutter, and they couldn't take care of the job either. Sutter only had a simple ring cutter, and it only made a small dent into the ring before they gave up. The next day, I called Fay Jewelers if they have the ability to cut off a jade ring. The owner said they haven't tried before, but he told me to come in any way and see if they can get it off. When I arrived there, I met with the owner and his jewelry maker. Both were kind and helpful. The jewelry maker took a look at my ring and said he would have to use a diamond blade to cut it off. He first took me to his work room and had me sat down. Next, he had my hand with the stuck ring submerged into a small tub of cool water. He then used his diamond blade cutter and sawed into two areas of the ring. For the last step, he had me put my finger on top of an anvil for him to gently tap with a hammer to crack the ring open. Although it was a nerve-wracking process for me, I couldn't be safer in their hands. The service charge was reasonable, so please do not hesitate to use their service especially when it comes to ring removal. I sure won't! read more
