My elderly, widowed mother unfortunately chose the Fazio Law Firm to prepare both her power of attorney and her will. On June 6, 2025, my mother passed away after seven days in palliative care. Following her passing, I contacted Michaela Fazio to inform her of the death and to request a copy of my mother's will. This marked the beginning of a series of interactions with Ms. Fazio that I found deeply distressing and frankly, unprofessional. At a minimum, one would expect a basic level of professionalism and compassion from a lawyer when dealing with a grieving family member, especially in the immediate aftermath of a loss. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Obtaining my mother's original will also proved to be unnecessarily difficult. Further, even though my mother had already paid for the service, I was charged extra for certified copies that I did not need. The process was extremely stressful and upsetting during an already difficult time. For anyone who must deal with Ms. Fazio, I strongly recommend communicating exclusively by email and keeping records of all correspondence. Do not rely solely on telephone conversations, as verbal assurances were not always followed through in my experience. I noticed another review on Yelp from a woman who described similar unprofessional conduct from this firm following the death of her loved one in May 2025. Sadly, it appears my experience is not an isolated one. Before selecting a lawyer, I encourage others to research client reviews online and verify whether the lawyer has been subject to any disciplinary actions by the Law Society of Ontario, as these are important indicators of credibility and professionalism. There are many excellent, compassionate and ethical lawyers in Sarnia who uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise choosing one of them instead of Michaela or Frank Fazio. read more
