Love it love it love it. What a wonderful little park to visit. I believe this one has the largest collection of Australian wildlife. Make sure to purchase some feed when you get your tickets. You can feed the little wallabies as well as kangaroos within this park. There is also a Koala experience with photos available, unfortunately we didn't have enough time to take advantage of that. WE did get a lot of nice Koala pictures on our own though. I think every animal on this continent is represented here. I saw Dingos, Quokkas, Pelicans, Crocodiles, Cassowaries, Emus, Pinguins, Wombats, Tasmanian Devils, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Koalas and countless other species. There is also a little cafe on the premises in case you get hungry or thirsty. This is such a wonderful little park. I highly recommend a visit here if you are ever in the area. read more

By the time we arrived here--the Kangaroos were so well fed that no amount of food would be able to get them to get up and move close to you. You could put food right in front of their mouths at the fence and they would not flinch. This place is okay. Lot's of people pay extra for a photo with a Koala. It's a major tourist scene and fine if you are visiting Sydney and have nothing else to do. I personally rather be cycling around downtown or sitting at a cafe on the water or on a boat tour. The best part of this place was the gift shop when I got this cool comfortable Australia hat for about $8.00 US. I wore it the rest of the trip. read more

It's a great spot , great for families, has changed much, still great, lots of nature to explore!

We stopped at Featherdale Wildlife Park with our Blue Mountains tour group. It's a great location - accessible from Sydney. We had limited time here, but one could easily spend hours here. You can find four out of the Aussie Big Five animals at Featherdale: kangaroos, wombats, koalas, and crocodiles. Sadly, there are no platypuses here, but there are QUOKKAS (I *may* be partial to quokkas), little penguins (the smallest penguin species on earth), dingoes, Tasmanian devils, cassowary, emus, and many other cool animals. We purchased a cup of food ($5 AUD) at the entrance to feed the wallabies and kangaroos (totally worth it). The cup was enough for at least two people to share (we rationed between the two main walk-in/feeding areas and still had more than enough). The food consisted of a mixture of pellets and grass - the pellets were much more popular with the animals. We went early in the morning (when the animals are hungriest) and had plenty of fun interactions with the animals. They also have outdoor hand-washing stations, which is a plus. Koala photo ops (where you can get up close and gently pat the koala) were available for purchase inside the park. Our guide recommended that we get in line for the koala photo first, since the line did get more crowded as the day went on. We opted to skip the koala photo op and spend more time with the other animals. More intimate and exclusive animal encounters with reptiles, wombats, quokkas, penguins, and koalas were also available for purchase, but it is highly recommended that you book these well in advance. If one of these animal encounters is a MUST-DO on your vacation and you're going during peak season, I would advise booking at least two months out - there are LIMITED spots and limited time slots available (e.g., only two spots per session). When you buy your tickets at the entrance, you get a small map which also serves as a passport where you can collect stamps to document various animal sightings. This makes a fun activity as you explore the park and gives you a free memento of your visit. (Pro tip: If you have trouble finding the stamp stations or just want to focus on enjoying the animals in front of you, they have a station right before the gift shop with all of the stamps available to complete your collection.) Shout-out to Featherdale for its commitment to conservation and education. Featherdale was one of the last things we did in Australia and being able to gently engage with the wildlife will be one of my fondest memories of the trip. Featherdale Wildlife Park is definitely worth a visit! read more

Visiting this zoo was part of my "Day in the Blue Mountains " tour. We were dropped off by a coach bus. If you are interested in getting your picture taken next to a koala I suggest you immediately go to "koala picture encounter" and pay the $30 AUD fee and stand in line. The line will get very long and you don't want to spend all your time there. In some ways I loved this zoo better than the other ones I had been to in Sydney. There's lots of animals walking around and it's easy to see them. That's great for us but there area looks very small. I'm not sure if there more space for them to wonder after hours. I love animals so much and Nothing beats seeing a wombat and koala so close up. I really enjoyed my visit but not sure if their area is large enough for them. read more

Featherdale Wildlife Park is happiness and joy! I felt so immersed in an up-close and personal experience with some of Australia's most iconic animals. The highlight of my visit was definitely the Koala Encounter, where I got to pet and take pictures with Leonardo, the resident koala--a bucket list item for sure. Leonardo was adorable and calm just munching on his eucalyptus. Wandering around the park was amazing. I got to feed so many friendly animals, like the kangaroos and wallabies, who were gentle and happy to interact. Featherdale felt welcoming, with well-cared-for animals and beautifully maintained grounds. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and spoke to us at length about Leonardo. What a great time! We stopped by on a bus tour to the blue mountains. You get to see so many cute animals! And feed kangaroos, wallabies, and for an additional charge, you can feed and take a picture and pet a koala! So worth it! They also have the elusive cassowary (in an enclosure. You can't touch it). One of the primary reasons I wanted to visit Australia was to see a Kangaroo and a Koala in person! I opted for this wildlife park rather than the zoo to fulfill this dream is because they allow interaction with them. @ first I thought the location would be a bit out of reach via public transportation but it was very easy to get to and about a mile walk from the train station, and the walk was all residential and pleasant! Entrance fee is a bit pricey but if this is a once in a lifetime trip then it makes it all the worthwhile! We spent approximately 1.5-2 hours here and got to see all sorts of other wildlife animals as well. There is a section where you can pay 30.00 to take a photo with a live Koala and even pet them but I got my fix by just watching them sleep in the trees. read more

Of all the things we did during our Australian trip, this was the most memorable and fun. No question about it! Featherdale is not even like a typical zoo. It's on the smaller side and doesn't have many of your traditional big animals. Heck, it's mainly birds. But it makes up for its lack of quantity with incredible quality. As soon as we entered the park, we were surrounded by what looked like miniature kangaroos; although I know that's not what they're called. There was also the most adorable wombat which is the first one I've ever seen in person. And best of all, you could feed this animals with food purchased from the ticket counter for $4 (AUD) for a cup that lasted me throughout our adventure. Beyond that, we paid a premium for the Koala encounter which was simply amazing. I get that it's a bit pricey but there is no substitute for the "encounter." And there were several encounter options with different animals which I'm sure are just as special. But I will forever cherish petting several Koalas, having our picture taken by a professional, and filming countless up close videos. In addition to the above, we got to feed about 10 other animals at various areas in the park including actual kangaroos. Bottomline, this was one of my top 3 zoo experiences of all time. And I've been to zoos in multiple states in the United States and several countries. Amazing little park loaded with local wildlife. So when I got there I was greeted by an amazing team member that just happened to be from western PA. How funny was that. I was able to purchase entry and pick up my prepaid encounter voucher at the front desk. For less than $20 USD, you can have access to a park filled with Australian fauna. I was able to see wombats and wallabies, kookaburras and koalas up close. The Tasmanian Devil was awake still and running around with a chicken wing in his mouth. You will fall in love with the echidnas and hide from the towering emus and cassowaries. You can purchase a cup of feed for $2 USD, which if you get there right when it opens at 8:00 am, you will have the park to yourself and all the hungry animals looking for their snack. I only planned to spend an hour, but that quickly turned to two. The park's sessions with the pelicans and the echidnas was pretty educational. The exhibits were impressive, loved the tranquil feel of the park. Many animals were free to roam and interact with visitors. Most of the animals appeared to have plenty of space, with the exception of 4 large white water birds towards the end of the park. One small pond the size of one bird is was not sufficient and truly no space for them to move about. I would like to see the birds moved to a larger area ( there appeared to be a lot of space in the back!). Cafe on site. School groups needs to supervise the children better. Some were screaming at the animals, slamming gates etc...Perhaps chaperones need to be coached prior to entering the animals space . read more

Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park is Sydney's ultimate hands-on wildlife experience. This is the only place in Sydney to pet a Koala; and we did! There are over 2,000 mammals, birds & reptiles, their collection of Australian animals was extensive. We met many koalas, feed the Kangaroos and Wallabies, admired the enormous Saltwater Crocodile "Ngukkur", saw fairy penguins, snakes, turtles, dingos ... tons of native Australian animals. I like that there were different types of kangaroos to feed and the food they charged for each cup was very affordable. We came here explicitly for the mammal experience. You can secure your reservations for the mammal experience online and the fee for the experience also includes admission into the park. As we checked in at the ticket window, we purchased some food to feed the kangaroos around the park. The park is small and you can really get up close with the animals. We spent the bulk of our time hanging out with the kangaroos. We loved feeding them. We also decided to purchase the koala experience which allowed us to touch and stand next to a koala for a picture. The experience was super quick, but I loved every second. We lucked out during our mammal experience as we were the only ones booked for it. We got to hold three mammals: a quokka, a possum, and a sugar glider while a zookeeper told us about each one. There was also a photographer on hand to take our pictures which was really nice since it was just me and my son. It was definitely a highlight of our trip and would recommend to any animal lover. The park is about an hour and 45 minutes away from Sydney CBD by train and bus. read more

#84 for 2018 If you want that money shot with a koala or kangaroo, and you don't want to take the long drive Outback, this is where you want to go. From Darling Harbor it's about an hour drive. The parking lot is very small allowing less than 2 dozen parking stalls. Parking on the atreet may be your next option. Going on a eeekday, early ma becyour best bet. To feed the kangaroos, you just need to purchase the feed. About $2 for a handful in a cup. However, these can be purchased only twice a day. When they open and at 2:30pm. They don't want them getting too fat where they can't jump, right? To get a pic with a koala, like right next to one and you're touching it you will need to purchase an extra ticket. The koala experience pass will have you right next to one, sleeping in a low tree. This is $25 for up to 4 ppl in the picture. It does include 2 4x6 and a 6x9. They will take additional pics with your own camera or smart device. If you do take this option and if they're not too busy try to compose different shots or all your puctures will be the same. At that point what was the point? There is a cafe there you can get some eats. Don't expect much. No kangaroo or koala burgers here. Not even croc taters. What I found interesting, easy for small children to get to, are packages of jerky made from kangaroo and crocodile. Oh yay after visiting and petting them you now can eat them. It was actuallly good. All this in the gift center on your way out. More like a zoo than an animal park you see many native animals. One thing for sure is these animals are big. Even the birds are big. Big enough to eat you if they wanted to. They even look at you thinking how they want to eat you. Get familiar with these guys. This is the place to do that. An excellent zoo with an awesome collection of animals! It's quite small but simple to navigate. The animals are out and about even in the heat and easily observed. A lot of the exotic animals I've only ever seen in pictures before - cassowaries, speckled flying foxes, tiny blue penguins. The wallabies, kangaroos, wallaroos roam freely in their open enclosures and are open to being fed with feed you can purchase for $2 AUD. I was really excited to pet a koala and a dingo! These extra experiences cost extra but come with plenty of physical photos as well as a digital download. The staff are friendly enough to even take photos with your own camera if you ask. You exit through the gift shop and there's even a cafe if you need a snack or drink to beat the heat. Everything is priced fairly cheaply in my opinion. Such a large variety of Australian native animals and birds, very entertaining & interesting.

When in Sydney, you must go to at least one zoo. My friend highly recommended us to check out Featherdale so we decided to check it out. I bought the tickets online which made it easy. Our tickets were scanned and ready to go. Note to self there's a small parking lot in front but no worries because there's another lot across the street. Parking is free. Animals, animals, everywhere! From kangaroos, koalas, dingos, birds, and more! For us from Hawaii we were stoked! The park isn't as big as your average zoo but it was nice to be able to take it slow especially since we were in the city for the past couple of days. We came on a Sunday afternoon and surprisingly there wasn't much people there. We were even able to take a picture with a koala and our tickets included the picture set to take home. Hands down our favorite part was feeding the kangaroos. It's a couple of dollars for a small cup containing food but it's so worth the experience. They're so cute! Overall, yes! After reading the reviews compared to other wildlife parks I'm so glad we got to visit. It was a once in a lifetime experience. read more

If you are desiring to see kangaroo and koala this is the place to go. Entrance fee is not that expensive. Seniors and students have discounts. You are allowed to feed them but you have to buy the food which is very cheap. We enjoyed feeding the kangaroos when I went there only recently with my neice Karen who visited Australia. She wanted to see kangaroo in close proximity and this is the only place which is near. I love their rabbits as well. But I love most when we had a photo with the koala. So cute and beautiful animal. Updated review. A lot of great Australian animals to see. Worth a visit if you're visiting from overseas. You can feed Kangaroos and see a lot of native Australian animals. I suggest getting here when they open or you will be dealing with a lot of tourist buses and lines. When we showed up at 8am we were the ONLY people in the park. When we left the line to enter was over 150 people long. I'll note I dropped this from a 5 star to 4. Getting your own photo with a Koala was free. Now they just want the tourist $$$..$25 for something that wouldn't cost more than a few dollars. The cost of food is excessive. There used to be a lot more Kangaroos you could walk in with and feed. It looks like they were moved to the back area and some idiot fed them when we showed up so none wanted to come and be fed by visitors, they all stayed in the fenced area. read more

Wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, emus, wombats, Tasmanian devils, dingoes and most of the animals of Australia and what most people think of as being of Australia are all here and close up. Yes, you can pet a koala or feed a kangaroo. It's a great place to get acquainted with these creatures from the back bush and sort of mingle around with them; particularly great for kids. Some are fenced in, captive, but others are not so you're right there amongst them or they're right there amongst you depending upon your view of the situation. It isn't the most lavish of places but the fact that it's not might be what makes it all that much better, since you're free to wander. Interestingly the place seems to get larger and in fact is rather large (actually 7 acers in size) when you begin to explore it. I know I kept discovering little sections one after another that I didn't initially think were there at first. You'll find it generally packed with tourists, but not overly crowded, as it is not only a main destination for tour buses but also generally included as side tours of other Australian tour destinations such as the Blue Mountains. As you might expect, they have a little restaurant, basically snack food, and large souvenir store but if its souvenirs you're seeking other than those of Featherdale itself, you can easily beat their prices when shopping in downtown Sydney. read more

We stopped here as part of a tour. It was a great addition! It's small and secluded and the animals are well cared for. You can buy cups of feed to interact with kangaroos and wallabies. TONS of bird species. Also had a house for nocturnal animals as well as reptiles and insects/arachnids. We came later in the day so we didn't see a lot of the specialty shows, but the keepers still answered our questions and we got to see them feeding the animals.
