After visiting SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, we headed next door to WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo. While it was still an enjoyable stop, it was noticeably less impressive by comparison. The zoo itself is relatively small, and because we visited on a very hot day, many of the animals were either sleeping, tucked away in shaded areas, or simply not very active. As a result, parts of the visit felt a bit underwhelming, especially if you're hoping to see a lot of animal interaction. That said, there were still elements we appreciated. The nocturnal animal exhibits were interesting and gave us the chance to see species that aren't always easy to spot, which added some variety to the experience. We also enjoyed stopping by the koala café, which was a nice place to take a break and offered a fun opportunity to relax while still being surrounded by the theme of Australian wildlife. Overall, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo was a pleasant but brief visit and works well as a convenient add-on if you're already in Darling Harbour. While it didn't quite live up to the excitement of SEA LIFE, it still offered a few memorable moments and a chance to see some uniquely Australian animals. read more

If you want to get up close and personal with a koala (who wouldn't?!), this is the place. Four of us purchased tickets for their Koala Breakfast (A$90 per person), which included a private tour of the park, a hot breakfast buffet and photos with one of the adorable koalas. You'll need to arrive by 7:15A, but it's worth the early wakeup because you get to do all of this before the zoo opens to the general public later in the morning. Of course you can stay as long as you want after breakfast as well to spend more time with your favorite animals. At 7:15A, there were about 20 of us which the staff split into two groups for the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about all the animals and paused at many of the exhibits to tell us more about them in detail. The tour lasted about one hour and then we headed up to breakfast with a perfect view of several koalas just perched in their trees. Koalas sleep for a large portion of the day, so we were lucky to catch so many of them in action. Unfortunately, the one that they had us take photos with was sleeping the entire time, but he was still so adorable with his head tucked into his knees. While you can't touch them, it was amazing to be able to stand so close, without any type of barrier between us. Breakfast was delicious and hearty, including all elements of an English breakfast... eggs, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, toast and fruit. I was even able to get my first (and last) taste of Vegemite from a tiny packet. Photos are available for printing immediately and you can get digital copies for an extra fee. After breakfast, we took another walk through the zoo at our own pace. I could spend hours watching the precious wombat, kangaroos, and wallabies. The Tree Kangaroo was so energetic and we felt a huge thud as he hopped down to the ground, whipping his tail back and forth as he scampered around his habitat. The Cassowary was also stunning and I marveled at its prehistoric claws. The Bilby and owls, a couple of the nocturnal creatures, were cool too. For these fellows, the zoo turns out the lights during open hours to trick them into thinking that it's nighttime, so we observed the Bilby running around. You also can't miss the fascinating platypus! There are many reptiles as well, for those who love the cold-blooded beings. I highly recommend getting an early start and purchasing the Koala Breakfast deal. I believe you can still get photos with the koalas via general admission, but it was nice to do that and be able to explore the park without large crowds. I appreciated this more personal experience which made for everlasting memories. 4.75 stars. read more

A lovely zoo connected to the SeaLife and Madame Tussaud exhibits. For anybody in Orlando, think icon park. This was a fun and easy way to see some of the wildlife of Australia safely . It's a large indoor zoo, so you're not able to see all of the animals if they're hiding . I get to see a good variety of animals though ! They had a large koala exhibit in the dining area, which was nice. They also had a good size kangaroo exhibit. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to see the Tasmanian devil, however since it was hiding. The crocodile exhibit was really cool though ! The ticket cost me around 20 USD, so I can't really complain ! I got my moneys worth and then some! read more

Get WILD at Wild Life Sydney. The mission. To see kangaroos, koalas and Tasmanian devils. The challenge. A seven hour flight delay on Air Canada after United cancelled all of their flights. No time to go to the Sydney Zoo. The solution. Wild Life Sydney is conveniently located in Darling Harbor. So lucky to be able to visit Wild Life Sydney right before they closed. Literally, we snuck in with our Go City passes at the last minute. So nice to be able to explore ten interactive zones with a personal guide. Enter Dev. As we were exploring, we met Dev a super nice employee who needed to secure each zone. Tasmanian devils den. Wallaby Cliffs. Daintree Rainforest. Crocodile Billabong. Platypus Pool. So, we got an unofficial guide who escorted us through each area. Such a wealth of information on the animals native to Australia. Especially loved the Kangaroo Walkabout. Frankie who is usually a bit shy kept nuzzling up to my dad. So cute. So interesting to also see the koalas getting their eye medication. Apparently koalas are quite susceptible to chlamydia pecorum which can lead to blindness if untreated. So important to treat so that they can climb trees to eat (and in the wild, evade natural predators). A great place if you just have an hour to explore. I expected that many of the animals would be living in a more spacious environment, considering the size of Sydney. I was saddened to see the Ostrich is such a small space and without a companion, as was the platypus, and the tree climbing Kangaroo..I can't imagine a life held in captivity and without a companion. Hopefully one day the park will relocate to a more spacious habitat and to see more animals with a companion . read more

One of my goals when I came to Sydney was to see kangaroos and koalas so I came here for a visit. The kangaroos were young and very cute. We even got a chance to pet one of them. There were 2-3 koalas that were available to see. Unfortunately, they were asleep the whole time which is not unusual as they sleep 20+ hours a day. The eucalyptus leaves they eat have little nutrients so it doesn't give them any energy. The zoo itself is pretty small and can be seen in about an hour or so. read more

Much like the aquarium, this is kind of an average attraction. The zoo is small, but the animals are cute. I worry that their enclosures aren't big enough for them to live their best lives. All of the animals are native to Australia. The entrance process is disorganized, and even if you think you have digital tickets, there always seems to be some issue with it and you have to either try to figure out what went wrong or go over to the customer service queue. I liked the campy tourist photos that are included with the ticket price (the digital version, that is.....if you buy the prints there is an extra charge). Convenient place to visit if you are staying in Darling Harbour, but probably not worth a special trip if you are not staying nearby. read more

WILD Life is perfect for the little ones. I would not consider this a "zoo". It takes about an hour to get through the entire exhibit. If you have babies that need naps, this is a perfect activity to do in between those nap times. What makes this place so Great is that it has all Australian native animals. Kangaroos, koalas, cassowary, crocodile, and several other cute Australian animals. It's partially outdoors so I wouldn't not recommend on a rainy day. The exhibit starts with a cute butterfly experience, you see Tasmanian devils, you go outside to see the kangaroos and the Koalas. You can even purchase a package to dine with the koalas! Highly recommend. You meet at 7:30 am before the place actually opens up. You get a private tour, all is the animals are awake and happy in the morning, and you get to eat breakfast next to the koalas!! Which also comes with a photo to take home. If you don't buy the breakfast with Koalas, you can still eat in the cafe next to the koalas. Cute gift shop, they validate parking to be $12, it can be up to $80! As we make our way back to the city there was enough time for us to stop at Feather-dale Wildlife Park where I was able to get up close and personal with the baby kangaroos and koala bears. Haha! Another enjoyable moment for me that I'll forever hold close to my heart. With my tour guide's direction, I had an awesome opportunity to feed a baby Kangaroo. It was such a joyous moment. I can't stop smiling! The Kola bears slept most of the time, but I was able take a sweet video of them dreaming away. Cutest thing ever!! I was advised that if I come back about 20 minutes later then I would be able to see them awake, but time was an essence for me. How could I forget about Mr. Dingo!!! Man they were hungry! Koala koala koala. It is here I discovered my spirit animal. Koalas spend 90% of their life sleeping, the other 10% eating Eucalyptus tree leaves. If that isn't goals, I don't know what it. I got some up close shots of the koalas sleeping and eating, and it was majestic. Other creatures here- kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, platypus, birds, etc. The zoo isn't one that's laid out and have a lot of space to roam. It's in the main part of the city, and it's right pathways and corners at some point. For being in the city, it's pretty good. It's in the main tourist area, near the aquarium. This is a pretty small zoo with not much to offer, so I'd recommend getting some kind of discount or ticket package deal if you plan to go, because the full price is unreasonable. There aren't too many animals to see but it's still interesting to go through. The highlights of the zoo are the kangaroo walkway and the koala rooftop. Unfortunately, the kangaroo walkway was closed when I went which was a huge bummer. The koalas are super cute and are usually sleeping. If you can find a good deal, this zoo is decent at killing an hour or so. read more

I'm between 3 and 4 stars on this review. I did the breakfast with koalas as my start to Sydney. We loved the walk through inside the zoo and learned so much on our way to breakfast. We were able to feed some wallabies on our way, as well (which was probably the highlight of the entire experience). When we got to breakfast, we noticed it was buffet style and not a ton of options. The food was okay but nothing to rave about. When I bought the tickets, I thought we were literally going to sit with koalas and eat together like the photo shows. The truth is, the koalas are in a gated area and you have to wait your turn to take photos (no touching/holding allowed)! It was a very quick breakfast and since the zoo is so small, we didn't stay long. You get a complimentary photo at the end. I recommend skipping the koala breakfast if you're expecting something spectacular. read more

I'm glad we got the breakfast with the koalas. Sure it was a bit pricey but you get a private tour of the zoo before it opens and hear stories about the animals. We were let in around 7:30am and we were walked through the zoo. It is a bit small but it is animals who are native in Australia. Koalas are expensive to raise since they are fickle about what they eat. They have eucalyptus branches to nibble on, but they only eat the tips of the branches! So at $6-7 per branch and multiple branches and 15 koalas.. you can see how it adds up. NSW prohibits the usage of koalas for entertainment purposes... :( so no hugging or touching them. Favorite was about Rocky, the resident meanie croc. He is a loner and happy about it. Apparently he was enclosed with females for breeding purposes but decided that they needed to die instead. #foreverlonely The best part of the koala breakfast is that you can get up close and personal with them plus take selfies and close up of them. Love and totally worth the money spent. Breakfast buffet was bacon, sausage, chicken dumplings, hash brown, mushroom, beans, toast and fruit. Overall decent. The zoo is pretty small, but considering it's in Sydney, it's understandable. I loved my experience there. read more

I bought my ticket online for a discount and I got to skip the line. It is located near Sea Life Aquarium, IMAX, Madame Tussaud's and across the water from Maritime amusement. I was so thrilled to see koalas and other animals native to Australia. They have keeper talks at certain times. Zoo keepers talk about certain animals like cassowary, wallaby, kangaroo, koala, etc. They have loud parrots that pooped on a tourist. Crocodile Rex - I've never seen a crocodile that gigantic. Yikes! They have snakes, pythons, lizards, salamanders, nocturnal animals, Tasmanian devils, echidnas, wombats, etc. I finally got to the koala section. They were sleeping. Oh so cuuuuute! So, I got suckered into buying souvenir photos with them so I can get upclose to these warm, furry darlings. The keeper and photographer told me to move closer to one of the koalas but don't hold onto the faux tree branches. "Move your head closer to the koala", she said. I looked up and had white furry koala balls in my face. Gah! I was so happy to have been here. This is how I wanted to spend my first day in Sydney. Wild Life Sydney Zoo is a zoo located at Darling Harbour. It is in the same building complex that houses Madame Tussauds Sydney and Sea Life Sydney Aqaurium. This zoo is on the small side. If you want to visit a larger zoo in Sydney, Taronga Zoo is the place to go. I had bought a Sydney attractions pass and admission to Wild Life Sydney Zoo was part of the deal, which was why I decided to check it out. I recommend this since the walk up price for the zoo is $40 compared to the attractions pass which offers you 5 attractions for $70. I knew before I visited that the zoo was on the small side, but that didn't deter me. While you won't see large animals like elephants, lions and tigers here, you will see Aussie favorite animals here like kangaroos, koalas and wallabies. Honestly I thought that the wallabies were more interesting than the kangaroos. They look like mini kangaroos. Other animals you will find here include frogs and snakes. One of the zookeepers was even letting zoo visitors pet a small snake which is pretty cool. I like how the zoos I visited in Australia were more hands on than elsewhere. There is also an interesting bird here called the laughing kookaburra which makes an unique sound. While this zoo isn't very extensive, it has a good variety of animals that you expect to see when you are visiting Australia. If you only have time to visit attractions in the Sydney CBD and places nearby, this zoo is your best option since Taronga Zoo requires a ferry ride to get to. read more

Most people when they come to Sydney and want to see animals think of Taronga Zoo. Don't get me wrong, I still think that Taronga Zoo is one of the best zoos that I've been too but it's a bit of a trek and well, the animals are different at both these locations. I think of Sydney Wildlife World as another opportunity to see what Australia wildlife has to offer. Located next to Darling Harbor and the Sealife World, Sydney Wildlife World has quite the collection of animals and you should consider stopping by if you're in town. If you're interested, you can buy tickets to both the aquarium and the wildlife world. See one, and then the other. They are both next door to one another. The unfortunate thing is that they have a tacky wax museum in the middle and most people in an attempt to avoid the gaudy displays of wax celebrities will miss out on the wildlife world. What I like about this zoo is that they have a large collection of snakes and spiders. While many people will come to Australia terrified of all the poisonous dangerous animals, it is actually very unlikely that you will encounter them in your day to day activities unless you actively go searching for them. Rather than risk your life for a face to face "natural" encounter, why not do it from the safety of a glass enclosure? Sydney funnel web, red back spiders and all sorts of snakes can be seen here! Of course, you can also see your koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and other more cuddly marsupials. People are probably really wanting to hold a koala. Unfortunately there are not very many places left in Australia where you can do that and certainly not here or at the Taronga zoo. You can, however, have breakfast with the koalas or have a koala "encounter" where you can go into their enclosures and take pictures next to them in a Eucalyptus tree. I found that to be expensive and definitely unnecessary but other people may think differently. This place can be really busy and its poorly air conditioned. On a hot day, this may not be the first place you'd want to go. If it is, plan to go early early in the morning right when they open so you can beat the rush and the heat. I would encourage you to drop by to take a look. You can see a lot of great animals here and combine it with the aquarium then you'll have seen most of what Sydney has to offer in terms of animal parks. read more

It's a good indoor zoo with air conditioning and a nice selection of animals. We went here with a group of students and parents while we were in Sydney and enjoyed it, even if it wasn't as thorough as other zoos. Wild Life Sydney is conveniently located in Darling Harbour surrounded by restaurants and other attractions, so you don't have to go far to see the animals if you are short on time. I liked that it was a single path one way exhibit, because I was trying to make sure all 23 people in my group were heading in the right direction and on time. We enjoyed the outdoor Cassowary exhibit, crocodile area (that guy is huge!), and all the other animal exhibits. We especially liked the bit upstairs where you could hang out and watch the Koalas up close and personal. Some people in my group paid the extra money to go into the Koala area and get a photo with them. They were happy with their experience. I don't have any complaints about Wild Life World, it's just not amazing. It's very accessible to the city and very well done for what it is. If you have limited time and are in Sydney, this is a great place to see some Australian wildlife. read more

Ok, Wild Life Sydney is not quite on the same scale as Taronga Zoo. BUT--dare I say it?--I actually liked it quite a bit better than the Sydney Aquarium, its next-door neighbor at Darling Harbour. And in a couple of ways it even rivaled its larger competitor across the bay. First off, it's less crowded than the aquarium and zoo, so we felt much less stressed and claustrophobic walking around than at the other places. Second, it's interactive! We found a few spots where the animals are allowed to wander/waddle/fly in or around the same areas as the visitors themselves. I spent a decent amount of time in the tropical room allowing a butterfly to perch upon my hand, and attempted to lure a parrot in the koala area to do the same (no cigar on that one :P). I had the chance to pet a flock of baby emus but I chickened out (even the chicks are a tad too rambunctious for me). And we were able to get really close to a couple of kangaroos and kookaburras. In addition, the majestic cassowary is one of the park's main attractions, in my opinion. It's a gigantic, beautiful bird that looks like it just stepped out of a Lady Gaga music video. Awesome. I'm glad we had the afterthought to grab the combo ticket to Wild Life Sydney when we went to the aquarium earlier in the day. It was unexpectedly very fun! read more

We had a great VIP tour with the family here. We had two kids with us and did 4 behind the scenes with the local animals. We got to encounter with the wombat and feed/pet them. We also saw the Kangaroo and the Koala. In New South Wales, taking a picture holding Koala is illegal but if you are in Creek, Gorge Wildlife Park holding Koala is permitted. My favorite encounter was the "world's deadliest bird", Cassowary. Although exotic and beautiful on the outside, Cassowaries have three-toed feet with sharp claws. The second toe, the inner one in the medial position, sports a dagger-like claw that maybe 125 mm (5 in) long. We fed the Cassowary the grapes. Cassowaries feed mainly on fruit, although all species are truly omnivorous and will take a range of other plant food, including shoots and grass seeds, in addition to fungi, invertebrates, and small vertebrates. The tour was about a 60mins and very informative. Highly recommend if you are traveling with a big group. read more

Cool to see the koalas. You can pay an extra $25 to step into the enclosure to take photo with the koalas but you are actually quite close to them already but just outside enclosure. You circle around different wildlife exhibits including kangaroos, crocodile, koalas and more. This is not the actual zoo, but closer to the central business district. We did the "Breakfast with Koalas" tour in Sept 2019 at the complex downtown and considering there was a Madame Tussaud's next door, this place screamed tourist trap but we had limited time in Sydney and didn't want to venture too far out so we decided on this tour. It turned out to be a great idea and everyone that went enjoyed and raves about it. The tickets asks guests to arrive by 7:15 for a 7:30am opening, we got there at 7am and waited the full 30 minutes until they opened at 7:30am... Inside we were broken up into about 2 groups of 10, each having a it's own tour guide... Our guide was so friendly and informative, it was essentially a private tour of all the exhibits... The "zoo" wasn't open to the public yet so we didn't have to deal with any crowds and got to take pictures of and with the animals. We got to pet baby Kangaroos and got up close for pictures with them. The tour of the facility was great and we learned some new stuff about all the marsupials in Australia. For the finale, they broke us by couple or family and we all got to walk inside the Koalas area (where they were eating a breakfast of leaves) and got to take a bunch of pictures with them. Included with the tour was a free printed photo with the Koalas. In that same area, we had a breakfast buffet. It was a chilly morning in Sydney and we were hungry, but we didn't know what to expect for the breakfast and it turned out to be a full on feast of a hot breakfast foods (think eggs, bacon, bagels, etc.) with coffee and tea. Afterwards, we still had access to the exhibits and got to enjoy the tour in reverse. As we were leaving, the zoo was open to the public so it was starting to fill with people.. Overall, we thought it was an awesome experience and well worth the additional costs just to have access to the museum, pictures with the koalas and a great breakfast ! read more

Maybe it is because I had already been to Queenland and had the opportunity to see some of the wildlife parks there and also saw some wildlife in the wild, but I found that Wild Life Sydney was small, the animal enclosures were also small, the displays did not provide enough information and I HATED the photo that they "force" you into right at the entrance, which I politely declined. That forced photo is SO TACKY! Note: If you can, instead visit a Wildlife park in the state of Queensland because you are allowed to cuddle and hold the koalas, this is not legal in Sydney (NSW state). read more

Located in Darling Harbor, this zoo is small but very nice. I wasn't sure what to expect since it's located right on the wharf but I was pleasantly surprised with what's inside. Very family friendly! When you first walk into the zoo it takes you thru a room that has lots of butterflies fluttering around. I really enjoyed that part since the butterflies liked to land on my arm. There's a 14ft, 1100lb crocodile that was impressive since you're able to go below the water level and view him up close swimming. There's 5 koalas that are easy to view up close and you can pay $20 to have your photo taken next to one. They did an informative talk, which was very good, and answered questions from the visitors. The kangaroo enclosure is open for people to walk amongst them. You aren't allowed to touch or feed them but you can get pretty close. Most were sleeping when I was there in the afternoon so I didn't get to see them active at all. There's more to see than the few things I've listed but in a nutshell, I thought it was worth doing since the zoo is well kept and the staff was friendly and helpful. read more

The first week that I landed in Sydney, I wanted to do all things touristy. And right on top of that list was seeing a Koala, Kangaroo and a Platypus. As i was in the city and strolling across Darling Harbour, it made perfect sense to mark it off the list by visiting Wild Life Sydney. Australia does't have any real Wild Life.. I mean, there are no Tigers, or Cheetah's or wild scary animals. The Australian wildlife is more gentle. In saying that, Australia is known to have the ten most deadliest snakes and other animals you will never see in any other part of the world. I loved seeing the super cute koalas, the huge Croc, baby emus, and ghost bats! You can usually buy a combo pass to see the wild life world and the Aquarium or even buy a ticket to see the Oz Tower. In fact keep an eye out for a combo pass and you can duck into the Aquarium next door as well (plus Ocean World if you fancy a ferry ride over to Manly). A friend and I decided to play tourist one day and this double bill was a delightful way to spend a morning. It's like a zoo, only indoors-ier! If you make a bit of an effort you can go see the animals that don't suffer from agoraphobia at Taronga Zoo - at least there you get to appreciate the view as well as the animals, and if you don't have the foresight to book ahead for Wild Life Sydney, it'll cost you a similar amount. And due to the constraints of an indoor zoo, you won't see as many animals - giraffes would struggle for sure. Zoos tend to get a bad rap anyway from animal welfare people, but at least there they have fresh air to breath, and Taronga has the harbour breeze on top of that, so surely that's gotta be pleasant for the elephants. Wild Life Sydney just makes you think of animal jail - although I'm sure they're treated perfectly well, it just seems far too claustrophobic for animals that are used to being roaming around the great stretches of Australian land (or rainforest, depending on the species). read more

Sydney Wildlife World - Zoos Near Me - Darling Harbour, NSW

Recently went to Australia for the first time and was trying to find a zoo to go to. I was debating between Wild Life Sydney and the Taronga Zoo, but ended up going for Wild Life Sydney because 1) you could get up close and take pics with koalas, and 2) it was much closer to where I was staying. I bought tickets for the Breakfast With Koalas literally the night before I wanted to go, so I was glad they weren't sold out! Call time was 7:30am which was really early...BUT TOTALL WORTH IT! For around $50 you get a private tour of the zoo (since it's before the zoo opens so literally NOBODY is there), get to pet the kangaroos, a buffet brunch, and meet & greet with the koalas! Our tour guide, Jas, was really cool and very informative. I learned a lot about the animals inside the zoo, which are all natives of Australia. The zoo is on the smaller side, but it was actually nice because I felt like you could get up close to a lot of the animals, and it's a good enough size that you can get in and out in under 1-2 hours with a lot of the day left remaining. It's also basically all indoor so you don't have to worry about the weather. We got to pet the kangaroos, which I wasn't expecting! Most of them are not that friendly, but two of them were excited to see our group and let us pet them and ate in front of us. The breakfast they provided was actually more than I was expecting. I thought they were just going to serve us a light breakfast like bagels, pastries, etc., but they actually had hot food like bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, toast, ec. They had a really cute picnic area setup for us and it was nicer than I had expected! After we were finished eating, we all got to take turns taking photos with the koalas. They took photos of us on their professional camera, and you got one print for free, and the other print was only $5 more so I bought it as well. You were also allowed to take photos with the koalas with your cell phone, including selfies, which I thought was awesome too because most places tend to be really anal about you taking your own photos instead of using their "professional" ones. Unfortunately you are not allowed to hold the koalas because it is illegal in NSW. Prior to my trip I had seen so many pictures of people holding koalas in Australia, but they must be in a different area of the country because the closest you can get to a koala is standing next to it in NSW. Overall, I was very pleased with my trip to Wild Life Sydney, and even though is zoo is very small compared to Taronga, I feel it's totally worth it if you do the Breakfast with Koalas! read more

We liked it, though we would recommend skipping the extra cost to have your picture taken with the Koalas (you cannot touch them - they are in the background and you can get pictures like this yourself without the extra cost). The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. read more
