This is headquarters for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers. I actually like this place and love how professional and friendly the staff and students are. I can't get into any particulars about FLETC as I signed a non-disclosure form and there is very sensitive security information here. Wow. I had a very good experience at the training center from good conditioned rooms on base or should I say the "Taj Mahal", the staffing from the front desk to the instructors in class were just top notch. The food did take a while to get used to, but as any other human I adapted. I walk from class to the chow hall wasn't long at all they did offer shuttles from the chow hall to the classroom, but the scenery was just so beautiful I had to take it all in. Overall, I had a really good time at FLETC and would not mind going back. read more

Not a bad experience overall. I just give it one star less because I had a roommate which I didn't appreciate . There is an outdoor pool at the housing facility I was at which was nice. If you're reading this review I'm assuming you know the basics about FLETC and you're only here because you want to get some more tips on how to survive however long your stay here is. This is my second time here and I have I've really come to enjoy my home away from home. Don't let the horror stories from your office and co-workers scare you; FLETC can be enjoyable as long as you know what to expect. Dry cleaning- Monday thru Friday from 4pm-7pm and you'll get your clothes back in 2 days. "Starbucks"-located right next to the library. This isn't going to look like the Starbucks near your house that plays Indie pop music with smiling employees with green aprons on. These sassy ladies don't have time for your nonsense so just order a hot coffee or iced coffee if there's a line. They also sell random snacks like candy bars, sandwiches and things like ramen cups. This and the library are the only places that have free wifi. Closes at 4:30 Library- My personal favorite place. An impressive size library with computers, old and NEW books that just recently came out and DVD's you can rent, including several entire series that don't suck (ex: Sopranos, Family Guy, etc.). Seriously, not enough people utilize this nice, quiet spot. Plus, the A/C works amazing, unlike some of the other buildings. Dorms/Rooms- This will vary greatly and there are pros and cons with each dorm/room type. You might have heard of the "Taj" (building 185 and surrounding). Personally I can say it's the nicest room available on campus. You get your own bathroom, an A/C unit, a mini fridge/kitchenette area and a couch! It's almost comparable to an Extended Stay. Cons: It's 1.5 miles from chow hall and the center of the campus so you're a slave to their shuttle system if you're not into walking. The non-Taj rooms all vary in niceness but most have a shared bathroom. The walls are replaced with painted bricks/center blocks and A/C that is pre-set and you can't change it. So that means if you're here around July and August, it won't go any lower than the temperature range that is placed on the rickety thermostat. And while the Taj is like a hotel, these dorms are like motels, with the doors facing the ultra humid outdoors so there will be bugs in your room, get used to it. The shared bathroom is a pain if you don't know your bathroom mate. Try to meet them and see if they're a morning or a night showerer. A lot of these peeps are going to be here for months, depending on the agency. Another con is you might get a bathroom mate that's disgusting. My buddy's mate woke him up every morning with loud "bathroom noises" including blowing snot rockets on the shower walls. Pros: Closer to everything Gym- Yes, you have to wear their shorts and shirt at least, but they're clean I promise. You can also borrow things like towels, pad locks, and even shoes if you need them. And because most people here have a physical test to pass, there's a lot of equipment indoors and outdoors and several cardio and weight training classes available. Closes on 9:30 pm on weekdays. Chow hall- You can eat as good or as bad as you want. There's usually a fish and vegetarian option at every meal, along with a pretty decent salad bar. Then there's the main entrée line which can serve meals ranging from pretty edible (especially the fried chicken on Tuesdays) to pure donkey poo. Lots of really good restaurants along the islands and in nearby areas. Uber does operate but cannot come on campus of course. They will drop you off at the visitor's center. G-bar- My other favorite place. It's like an actual dive bar in here and I have several great memories in here with my new best friends. Opens at 5ish with HH on Mondays and Tuesdays as of now. That's $2 wells people. Pretty darn good! 4:30 on Sundays. FLETC Express store- Mini convenience store that sells everything you forgot to bring and then some. The most amazing thing about this place is that the prices aren't really marked up like a typical convenience store. Gatorade here runs about a buck something, gallon of water $1.80, wine $7.99. The shuttle buses to off-campus trips like Savannah and the islands all leave from here. And the buses will leave on schedule so show up on time! Overall- It's a sausage fest so if you're a female, prepare to have super friendly guys offer to everything for you and have your ego boosted. I feel like Beyonce here! If you're a male, prepare to look at your buddy, Steve for several weeks to months. read more

The food is edible, after a week it goes from ok to not that good. After a few weeks you'll find yourself wanting to skip meals and just eat offsite. It is your typical cafeteria style set up, with buffet quality food but that's what one can expect when it's free. It's definitely not as good as the South Carolina FLETC. On one occasion they had a pretty good turkey meal, the desserts aren't bad, and the grilled cheese is a good go-to food. read more
