My biggest mistake was hiring Paul Leehey to represent me in my divorce. Do not hire this man, keep…read morelooking, there are good family law lawyers out there, this is not one of them! You hire a divorce attorney to help you get divorced, put the bad stuff behind you, he is all about the clock and taking your money, not interested in helping you end your marriage and get on with your life, you are a dollar sign to him. People like him should not be allowed to practice law. He is rude and doesn't listen. He was unprofessional, did everything at the very last minute, he filed things late, was hard to reach when you needed him, did tons of unnecessary busy work, list making and repetitive strategizing and charged for it. The one time we appeared in court, he was so nervous, you'd think it was his first time. He went about everything in such an antagonistic manner that it launched my divorce (that I just wanted over) into full scale war. And when I fired him, he kept making calls on my behalf, sending emails, letters, making copies, etc. and billing me! I had to hire another attorney to make the substitution of attorney happen. He did everything wrong in my case. I will just mention a couple of his blunders... he filed my child support late (so I lost 2 months) and he filed it incorrectly (the judge could of denied 9 months of support, but thankfully my new attorney convinced him to overlook the mistake and grant support). Leehey told me I should freeze my assets so my x couldn't sell them (which I was told later he couldn't of done anyway because my name was on everything), which he charged me a lot to do, but the worst part, he neglected to tell me I was allowing him to put HIS name on all my properties making it so I could not even sell my own properties. Fallbrook is a small town, I have come across a few people who have had similar experiences with Leehey. One poor guy is still making payments monthly payments to Leehey and his divorce ended years ago! I retained him for 5k. He was my attorney for 3 months. He set me back in my divorce and added extra unwanted stress. Now he is suing me for 25K. My divorce is long over and Mr. Leehey is still plaguing my life! He attempts to portray himself as a church goer who helps with the BSA, but it is all smoke and mirrors, bottom line: HE IS A THEIF! Do your homework before hiring a lawyer, I didn't.
