Minneapolis moving services are some of the most expensive anywhere I've experienced. I hope that simply means that MN companies pay their labor well. We paid $1365 + $180 tip (optional, but come on) for a 3-man crew at $260/hr (2-hour minimum), and we obviously also provided snacks and drinks (they declined breakfast). For comparison, in San Francisco it was $250/hr for 5 men. The rate was with both the weekday discount and winter pricing. Weekend would have been $285/hr for 3 men, and $345 for 4 men. There was no trip fee. Robert, in particular was incredible; he moved a 6 drawer dresser down a tight stairwell alone. They needed to remove the front door at one point, but did so without issue. They also were happy to use our own furniture pads and plastic wrap (leftover from a cross-country move). At one point, they had to back the huge truck through the alley on icy ground, and had no problems. Also, it was easy to provide them inventory by email, and easy to reach them by phone. Lots of moving companies were annoying to contact, which is partly why we chose this one. One a few minor issues: one piece of furniture was shedding pieces of wood. I think they were reinforcements put on by previous owners. I didn't even know they were there, and it doesn't seem to have affected the furniture. They also forgot a couple of items in the yard, including a big smoker we had to move on our own. It's partly my fault, I told them we were good to go. Also, we were made to sign a lot of paperwork, and at various points it was for things like "you confirm that nothing is broken and everything has arrived" and, like, it's weeks later and I'm still unpacking, there is no way I would have known for sure. It's fine, because so far we have had no issues, but if someone did have issues it might feel like being strong-armed via contract. The guys in the truck were just doing their jobs, so it's the process that is problematic more than anything. We would use these guys again!

We ran into an issue during the moving process where my oversized couch would not fit into the new apartment. It certainly was a struggle with the angles of the entry way and ceiling height. During this process one mover called Chris at triple AAA. He provided no support for my mover stating if it doesn't fit it doesn't go in. Chris then called me to tell me that they have storage for a monthly fee or they could discard it for me. Dayshawn was determined to get the couch into my new place. He saran wrapped it and the guys got it in. Seems easy but it was so tricky to do this. I called Chris back to let him know how happy I was with the movers and he couldn't care less. All in all the only reason this company is getting 5 stars is for the three professional guys who moved me. They were the only ones who actually cared about me and my move. Charged my credit card without permission, and would not guarantee the furniture would be wrapped. The company is not honest, nor does it take pride in its work. Unprofessional. Be smart, stay away.

They wrapped items in blankets then plastic wrap to keep safe or just plastic to keep drawers in place. At the new place they laid down rugs and plastic to protect the floor as they moved items in. They made sure furniture was placed in the area we wanted and even helped adjust as needed. The reality: the crew arrived at 1:30 PM -- 90 minutes late -- and finished at 6:30 PM. The final bill was ~$1,000, more than double the estimate. This was a light load: ~1,000 lbs, ~35 boxes, no beds or appliances. The crew told me their previous job that morning had also been scoped at 2 hours and ran to 4 -- they arrived exhausted, and it showed. Two movers were sent to what was realistically a 3-man job. Along the way they gouged a wall at my old house and scratched a door and chipped the frame at the new one (see photos). I called their office multiple times during business hours -- no answer. The aftermath has been worse. I disputed in writing with photos. First they told me a damage claim was submitted with a 4-6 week window; two days later the same manager wrote there was "no claim number associated with this one." No adjustment offered. The estimate isn't a plan -- it's a sales tool. If you book them anyway, document everything.
