Me and my wife's experience at Feet First Podiatry was unfortunately very unpleasant and bordering on the edge of unethical and possibly illegal. That is because the receptionist REFUSED us service. Let me start by saying that Dr. Timko who has treated my wife's ingrown toe nail on muliple visits was wonderful! He is a great Doctor and provided us with great care over several visits. The source of our mistreatment was from the receptionist. On multiple occasions this receptionist has provided us with false information, forgotten to schedule our appointment, forgotten to submit the doctor's prescription of antibiotics for my wife and told us over the phone that their office accepted our insurance after submitting to them all of our policy details only to be told at my wife's appointment upon time for payment processing that they in fact did not accept our insurance. Upon our second visit with my wife being pregnant and having an infected ingrown toe, the doctor gave us a prescription and was given an appointment the following week for surgery to remove the ingrown toe nail. When I went to get the prescription filled at walgreens that night they had no record of a prescription for my wife. This happened to be a Friday and a holiday weekend so the podiatrist would be closed until Tuesday. Out of concern for my wife being pregnant with the infection we had to call our primary doctor and have her get us an antibiotic essentially doing the podiatrist's office job. The following Tuesday my with called the podiatrists office, asked the receptionist what happened with the precription and was told it was forgotten and never got submitted to Walgreen's. On top of this when my wife mentioned being at their offices the following day for surgery the receptionist was confused and had no record of appointment. My wife did NOT receive an apology, an I'm sorry, not even a simple acknowledgment by the receptionist that things had gotten screwed up. When my wife asked why everything was forgotten and who was responsible the receptionist did no speak to the issue and after asking again was hung up on by the receptionist. To me it is reasonable to try and communicate and find out why an appointment and a prescription was forgotten but I guess for some people I.e.(this receptionist) that is too much to ask, I guess with this individual lady, you only get the care and information that she see's fit to give. At this point I got involved, called their office and spoke with the receptionist. Ifirst stated what my wife told me and then calmly without preconceived judgment asked her side of the story. I imply asked, "what happened?" She gave me the same run around, she blamed it on their computer systems, that everything somehow got lost, that their prescription network is very complex. At this point she responded with no concern for our miscare, no apology, no accepting responsibility for improper care. She responded with an ambiguous kind of "I guess you will have to just schedule another appointment and try again". I talk to my wife, we weigh our options of the time it would take to find a new podiatrist versus giving Feet First Podiatry another chance keeping in mind the severity of her infection with being pregnant and decided to continue with them out of necessity for my wife's and the baby's health. Another important note is that we had just started with a new insurance company. My wife called , spoke with this same receptionist, gave her our policy number and I.D. and later received a voicemail from her confirming that they did in fact accept our SPECIFIC insurance policy through Cigna. As my wife is filling out the paper work an asked for our insurance card the receptionist tells us that they don't accept our specific policy and that we would have to pay out of pocket for the procedure. A few minutes later I hear my wife asking the receptionist why she left her a voicemail confirming our insurance was accepted for our specific policy and then am told different now while at the office. At his point the receptionist REFUSED us service. I overheard her tell my wife that she is too "emotional" and they refuse to treat her now. My wife was not emotional. I'm not being biased or a cheerleader for my wife. My wife was frustrated that she was misinformed about our insurance and that this same lady has failed to do her job on 4 separate occasions. I didn't know being "emotional" was grounds for refusal of services by Feet First Podiatry. What does that even mean? My wife then asked to speak with doctor Timko and the receptionist refused. At this point my wife just kept asking to speak to the doctor and she refused several more times and then WALKED AWAY FROM US. Dr. Timko finally came out I assume from hearing all the commotion. We walked out due to such great disrespect toward us after sharing with the doctor how we were treated. read more
