For starters, the bunker location is very cool and gets the adrenaline going on arrival. The equipment is great, not too much gear and the hand held guns are easy to operate. There is also a variety of games you can play. We did a round of every man/woman for themselves, which was a great start and good to get to know the location. We then went on to complete a group mission. This involved cracking codes, climing into dark sand filled rooms, a team against team round and more! My personal highlight was abseiling down into the dark second level of the bunker with only a gasmask and a camera on my helmet, hoping my team would tell me the right way to go (which they did very well!). Definately got a rush! I'll definately be going back. And for all you women out there, it's not just a guys thing. As a women, I had a ball and those with me did too. So don't be shy! p.s. I recommend to all take comfortable clothing so you can move well, nothing too warm because you sweat alot and nothing white because you'll light up in the blacklight and get dirty anyway. Enjoy!!!

This is a beautiful indoor pool facility that was recently restored. There are two large pools -…read morethe largest is kept at around 28c/82f and the smaller large pool (which is still quite big) is kept just below bathwater warmth - it's REALLY warm and you don't have to get used to the water temperature at all. There is a schedule for open swim time for the public on their website. It's around 5€ to use the pool. There are separate locker/changing rooms for men and women. Each locker room has hair dryers (1€) and lockers where you get a key in exchange for a 1€ coin that you get back, so remember your coin if you want to secure anything. The locker rooms have changing tables and wooden playpen sort of things to put your baby while you change. There are swim classes at various times during the day so it's important to understand the schedule if you want to use the pool. I've enrolled in two classes. One instructor spoke only german which is understandable. Another instructor spoke german, spanish and english. The pool facility has a website but no way to do online registration so if you plan to take a class, plan to register in person, and to get there before opening time. The queues run out the door and he wait for registration is longer than an hour. During registration, their card machine wasn't working so they were only accepting cash. All in all, it's a nice big clean pool facility but they could benefit their customers by creating online registration. After all, it's 2018. The front desk staff could also use a lesson in smiling and not being so crabby.

Forget lap swimming, there are no lane lines and swimmers pretty much have to stop at each side of the pool to plan how to criss cross their way to the other side. And the late night cheap swim seems to also be the make-out-in-the-pool spot and the get-sexual-favors-in-the-corner-of-the-pool times. I haven't gone during the normal hours but if you are here as a tourist and want to see the beautiful architecture, go during the day. It is certainly worth seeing. The sauna is also affordable and charming with the old tiles, but I went on a mixed (male and female) day that was a total sausage party. Honestly, I don't care that the majority were dudes, but why they all seemed to be doing yoga moves that required spreading their legs as far as possible in the air has always baffled me. Not too pleasant when the sauna is so packed that the guy behind you is dripping on your back! For a more pleasant mixed sauna, I recommend liquidrom or this one really cool, smaller Russian owned sauna in Friedrichschain (will review soon!).

It only took two visits for me to fall in love with Lokahi Loft!…read more In my opinion, it is literally one of the best fitness clubs in the whole city. I love that there is an entire floor dedicated to strength training. The best part: I went here the other night at prime time and the place was empty! As a long-time patron of Superfit, I can say without a doubt that it does not even belong in the same category as Lokahi Loft. Obviously, the membership is going to be a little more expensive, but it is truly worth it if you want to actually be able to work out at all times of the day (as opposed to waiting around for machines in the evening at Superfit). I bought a groupon for the CrossCircle classes and have nothing bad to say about the two courses I have been to so far. The trainers seemed really knowledgable and were big sticklers on proper technique. This is great; a lot of Crossfit style workouts are criticized for being dangerous because the instructors neglect teaching good form -- certainly not the case here at Lokahi! Side note of little importance: the instructors are extremely attractive and have physiques that truly prove they not only talk the talk, but walk the walk....;D In addition, they have a really large wellness area, including multiple terraces and a library-lounge. The personnel is also really friendly, much unlike at the other fitness clubs I have visited in Berlin. Two small downsides: one, the club is situated pretty far away from where I live; and two, I wish there was a bit more functional equipment available for use outside of the CrossCircle area (which you have to pay a separate fee for). Despite this, I am still heavily considering becoming a member because of all the positives that Lokahi Loft has to offer!

If you find yourself waking up every day going through the same motions, packing the same PB&J for work for the 4th time that week, you my friend, have gotten boring. Comfortable. Comfortable will be the last emotion you'll feel when you're signing a waiver that reads "possible equipment malfunction which can result to fatal injuries or even death". Try uneasy, nervous, FREAKING OUT. Also, try concentrating when the handsome Friedrich straps you tightly in your harness while explaining what's about to happen in the next few minutes. The staff here are excellent at making you feel safe, even when your stomach is in knots. Then it gets real very quickly when you walk the steel plank, feel the wind in your face while you're standing on the edge of the platform. Suddenly, all those people walking around Alexanderplatz look like tiny ants. Your heart beats faster and as you summon every last bit of courage in your being, you're hoisted up by a steel cable on your back and left dangling in a superman pose long enough to realize, you could REALLY die this way, but the least you could hope for is not to sh*t your pants. Then you fall, and fall and fall through the air ... after what feels like eternity (8 seconds!!!) your feet touches the ground and you let out an excited "wohooo!!! I'm ALIVE!!" with your hands waving wildly in the air and these German boys give you a look that says "wow, Asian girls get waaay too excited." Back home, you look at your instagram photo with a satisfied smile on your face. As you bite into your PB&J sandwich for the 4th time that week, you stop and notice it tastes different. The employees there were friendly and understanding enough to help out and point out errors(remember it helps to be proactive in asking in order to prevent errors in direction and what not). They do have essentially a commandment list of sorts of dos and donts. Just be sure to respect them as they are there for your safety! Look forward to another visit in the future when the children are perhaps older and we can all enjoy the adult course!

YES, BEACH BARS!!!!…read more So, I understand why Berliners like their beach bars, cuz they live in Berlin Coming from California, this idea of a beach-style bar is still new to me. I understand it tho, and dig it too. Minus 1 star for overpriced beer. Other than that this place is awesome. Really cool vibe here, totally relaxed, they even have janky-ass chairs made from 24s and old beer crates. A BIG plus about this particular beach bar is that it's somewhat secluded and so there are NO buildings to be seen. Only trees, sand, and the bar area, it takes you right out of the city, even if only for a lil while Def cool too that there is volleyball to watch, and I'm certainly glad there are people playing, cuz, shit, when I sit down with a beer here, the last thing I want to do is jump around and hit a ball over a net (and poorly at that). The best time is just before sunset, in the summer, when the sky gets orange, and you can sit along the looooong wooden bench by the volleyball squares.
