We stumbled across this very nice restaurant by accident--it is located next to the Manaira Shopping Mall, but I had never noticed that it was even there. We went inside to take a look and one o the owners greeted us and invited us to have a look around. She even gave us a complimentary black bean soup so we could taste the quality.
We made plans to come back another day and try their feijoada. Apparently, the restaurant has been open over 20 years, and they seem o have a loyal and large customer base, judging by the number of regulars.
They serve their feijoada as do many upscale restaurants do: the beans, rice and meats are all done separately and you choose which (or all, if you can handle it) that you want. The buffet is large, well-organized and handsomely presented, and the staff constantly are replenishing the various items.
The feijoada is sold per kilo (the price is R$85/kilo, or about $15 USD), but they have table service for your drinks. Every diner is offered a free shot of a cachaça of your choice, which is another nice touch. They have a full bar and their caipirinhas are very good. Service was very good and all the workers and staff are friendly too.
The ambiance is casual, but attractive. Overall, I look forward to eating here again and I would highly recommend it to you if you are in the area. read more
