Sheri and I met to discuss investment opportunities in Hilton Head as we are looking to purchase another investment property. I found Sheri to be extremely knowledgeable about the local market, particularly luxury properties, either oceanfront or with ocean views. I appreciated her information based, no pressure approach in making me feel comfortable that she is the right agent to work with to purchase an investment property in Hilton Head. We also discussed oceanfront condos but felt those might offer the return on investment I was looking for. That is what I call looking out for my best interests! Sheri also has recommendations for property managers, contractors, painters, and more. That is what I call a "one stop shop"! We will probably need to take another trip out to South Carolina before making a decision on a specific property, but we will ABSOLUTELY use Sheri Nixon for our purchase. From the decor to the space to the beachfront local to the gated access of the small enclave to the rooftop and the gorgeous spiral staircase, we were immediately mesmerized by the beautiful of this immaculate property. It was money well-spent and was perfect for our needs for proximity to Burkes Beach, Singleton Beach, and all of the amenities that Hilton Head Island has to offer. My only feedback would be for the company to ensure that all dead bugs are cleaned up before renters arrive because we had to do a great deal of that before our guests arrived for the long weekend and they should also improve the Wi-Fi here. It is very slow and just doesn't seem to be fast enough for a large party of 10-14 people all of whom need Wi-Fi access. Otherwise, we had a great experience and home to return to this property next year.

I really hate to leave a bad review as the house is owned by Serge Savard a legendary Montiel Canadien who won 7 Stanley Cups and the Conn Smythe trophy- what a stud and honor to be in his house. But the rental company, Hilton Head Island Vacations really let us down. We paid $1700/ night for a rental after Christmas and were very clear that we wanted a house with a heated pool. We called them three times to remind them and paid extra for the heated pool. Unfortunately, when we got to the house, the pool was not heated. We called repeatedly to get someone to fix the problem, and they told us to quit calling that they understood the problem. Three days after our six day stay they said someone came out (although we never saw them) and determined the problem could not be fixed. Their solution was to refund our pool heating payment. Obviously- but what about their promise of a heated pool (and it was too cold to swim without the heat) for our six grandkids and their parents (and was the main reason we overpaid for this house). We offered that they refund one day's rent. They told us to review the contract which clearly states that they are not responsible for maintenance issues. Is it a maintenance issue or an amenity which they promised. So Beware! If the air conditioning goes out in the middle of an August heat wave, the refrigerator or oven decides to stop working, or the toilets back up or the elevator stalls on the first floor despite your aging relative needing a lift, that is not their problem. It is in the contract. And they may not respond for several days to tell you there is nothing they can do. They also told us the week before the rental (when my wife called to again remind them to heat the pool) that the city informed them that they are doing reclamation work on the beach. When we went online it was apparent that the reclamation work had been going on for many weeks. When we got to the house there was a large pipe stretched between us and the beach and a lot of heavy machinery going up and down the beach. But their story is that they just got the notice and, after all, that is just routine maintenance and I am sure it is "in the contract".

I was interested in seeing some available properties. This was going to be a place I could purchase now that I'd like to rent until I could retire in three years and use it more frequently, snowbird from New York perhaps. I couldn't spend too much as I already owned a home on Long Island, NY. For Cathie there was no job too big or small. She spent so much time with me, as much time as if I were a Multi-million dollar customer. She was great. For three years I made trips back and forth until she helped me find what was right for me. I didn't know much about Hilton Head in a buyer's perspective and she showed me just about every part of the Island. I never felt rushed or pressured or that I was wasting her time. She made me feel very comfortable. In May I finally purchased a handy man special which was a short sale. Needless to say this required more patience. When I saw this townhouse I said to Cathie that I could never buy it, I didn't have the time to go back and forth from New York to fix it up. She said we can take care of that for you. Well that "they" did. Cathie's husband Tom is a contractor who oversaw the complete renovation of my townhouse. It took only a couple months and what was once falling apart is now a beautiful brand new townhome. I just love it. With their help I was able to pick out all the finishes in one day and just came back to see it looking abosolutely beautiful. This has been a dream come true for me. Now Cathie will help me with the final stage of my endeavor, renting it for 3 yrs. until I can enjoy it myself. I cannot believe how smoothly this whole process has been from start to finish. Purchasing real estate and renovating doesn't go this smoothly when your in the same town let alone a different state. What more can I say, yes at first it was a scary thing for me to purchase real estate in a different state like this. But working with Cathie from Remax Island Realty not only wasn't it scary it was so much fun that I wish I could do it again. She and her husband are both gems. Even better than anything you'll ever see on HGTV.

    We had the unfortunate experience of working with Foundation Realty…read morerepresenting the same buyers two times on a property we are selling. They came to the table with pre-approved credit letter. We agreed on price and terms. They never sent earnest money even after repeated contact with them. They insisted the check was mailed but never made any effort to show proof, track it down or provide a replacement by other means (FEDEX or Wire Transfer). Then we find out that the buyers have credit issues. How could they have produced a pre-qual letter? The second time around a couple of months later, they indicated the buyers had cleared up their credit issues. Their offer consisted of the original agreed upon sale price, but only $500 in earnest money and that they would be financing 75%. When we countered that they put more earnest money down they responded that the buyers are not comfortable with that. It also came out that they were now looking for VA loan and not conventional indicated on the contract. You have to be leery of anything that they tell you. Seems like they were still shopping around and didn't mind typing up a property while they continued to look elsewhere. Or this is just a part of a larger scam to delay the process and then look to extract more concessions from the seller in order to bring to the deal to closure after wasting so much time. My only recommendation is to keep your distance from them and find another agency. DO NOT USE THEM
