Great little church in a small little town in Texas…read more The main church doesn't look like it could hold 100 people. There are about 10 rows of pews. I saw a sign that said the church had opened in the 1800's and that the church is about 130 years old. There are 2 other buildings across from the little church house itself. One looks like a school building and he other is a cafeteria. We came here for a first communion and the services were held in the cafeteria building. There were probably 300 people on hand. The building is typical outside but inside is very nice. Great priests and sermons too. I'll be back when we are in town.

I visited Calvary Chapel in Garland on December 7th, 2025. I was welcomed by 2 young men and…read moreenjoyed speaking with them. They escorted me to the church area where there was praise & worship. I sat down in the back. Afterwards, the congregation meeted and greeted each other and people introduced themselves by name to me and I did as well. The pastor spoke about Peter and his relationship with Jesus. He compared Peter vs. Judas in both finalities and the major different results. There were several baptized after the preaching. Praise & worship was at the end. I liked the service, however, I noticed the audience was not (for the most part) engaged with the praise & worship. They were rather toned down in their expression. Not Charasmatic. I saw one person raise his hand and a lady upfront was expressive, but that was it. I think that the leadership needs to encourage more participation by asking people to raise their hands during worship. I think they need guidance in this area. I did feel the Holy Spirit there though.
