I am so grateful for this church and that they are not afraid to tackle difficult, current issues of all kinds. Some want the church to remain silent on things of this world, but we are not called to do that. We are called to speak truth in love to others, especially the lost. At first we took Communion. Then Praise & Worship (which was wonderful). If you are older though, since speakers are very loud and booming, it is advised to either sit in the back or in the viewing room if too loud for you. It takes getting use to. They had Lee Strobell (a former atheist) as a guest speaker who is an author from Chicago that moved to Houston. He spoke about his book "See the Supernatural." where he highlighted four topics; Documented Miracles, Death Bed Visions, Near Death Experiences, and Contemporary Encounters with Angels (each having many people with these experiences) that have been documented by professionals and statistically analyzed. I have had an NDE and to me it is just verifying what I already know and believe. It is pretty neat to hear that others had gone thru what I went thru. It is better though to not see and yet believe as it is written, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed." At the end he invited people to say the Salvation prayer. My family and I started to go to Lake Pointe because they had a campus down the street from us. We loved going there since we moved and couldnt make it to our old church in another town any longer. It seemed like a good fit. Until 2024 elections. One Sunday, we didnt bring our kids (thank goodness) the sermon became very political. Basically sounded if we didn't vote for Trump we were not Christians. I sat through the whole sermon feeling confused and sort of disgusted in what I was hearing. I have never been a big fan of our current president even before he was president the 2nd time around. That was the last Sunday that I went. When I say it made me question my own beliefs and had me questioning what Christianity should be for weeks and made me feel so sad, it felt awful. I finally broke through my sadness and realized there was a reason why I felt the way I felt and realized Lake Pointe was not for us and never went back. I believe politics should not be preached in the church or any religion. And i felt in my heart that the church was going to be my home from now on. read more

I hate to say it, but this church has shifted its agenda toward Christian Nationalism. I grew up in this church, first attending in the early nineties. At that time, it was run by Pastor Steve Stroope. Steve's messages, as I perceived them, were to invite and challenge people to live in world that was Biblical and Godly. For me, his messages found resonance. Compassion mixed with accountability. And there were certain messages Steve preached that have held with me over the years. There was even one time when I personally reached out to Steve with an issue I was dealing with. His response always stuck with me, he said (I'm paraphrasing) "The Bible addresses very clearly what we should focus on. What isn't explicitly mentioned in the Bible are areas that probably less important" Fast forward to Covid. I now live in California for work and have a young family. While we were all locked in, I scrambled to find services and messaging for my kids and family. Lake Pointe was broadcasting, and had a youtube series just for kids. It was great. Josh Howerton is now the pastor. Obviously, he has a different style than Steve, which is understandable. But I start to see differences. Josh talks a lot about himself. He has more swagger. Some of his personal stories seem to stretch believability. He seems to really revel in the limelight. But who am I to say? As a young family, we're simply looking for guidance. Then, he starts to say things that have a different tone. He starts diminishing Covid. Asking people to come back in person. At this point, we personally knew people who have died from Covid, so it seems off. Then he makes jokes about 'rounding up all the cars in the parking lot with California plates'. I'm sure that was a funny joke in person, but it was confusing to my family sitting there, watching from California. Then, in a final swoop, he cancels the Children's youtube broadcast we had been watching and changed the service times. All to 'bring people back to church'. In person only. For us, we just couldn't logistically participate anymore. Fast forward a few years, and it's the election this last fall. I tuned in and Josh is now literally preaching a sermon for Donald Trump. And even at the start of his service, he says "I'm not going to tell you who to vote for or endorse any particular candidate" and then goes on to very clearly endorse Donald Trump, all but in name. It seems very underhanded. He also referred to him as a 'Jehu,' which is very weird if you actually read about it. And the talking points, they're clearly not Biblical. As mentioned earlier, the Bible doesn't really spend much time addressing things that are very hot topic Republican talking points right now. But it does spend a lot of time addressing certain topics like immigration. Look it up. Jesus' message is very clear and very compassionate. But here is Pastor Josh talking about immigration, not from a Biblical perspective, but straight out of Fox News talking points. Also- the Bible has a lot to say about people who can't tell the truth. Proverbs 6:16-19 is a great one. And yet it's crickets for this message when talking about who to vote for. To sum it all up, Christian Nationalism is a political movement that focuses more on the 'Nationalism' than Christ. In fact, many of its core tenants fly directly in opposition to Christ's messages. It's a very twisted version of Christianity, often with core beliefs that are either not mentioned in the Bible or are in direct opposition to the Bible and Christ's messages. Christ believed in compassion and accountability. Christian Nationalism, at its core, is lack of compassion with almost no personal accountability. If that's what you're looking for, a Fox News, Trump endorsing church, then maybe this is the church for you. Sadly, it's not the church I grew up in. If you are looking for a Biblical based church that teaches compassion and accountability, you might need to look elsewhere. read more

The pastor's at this church really make the experience worth it for us to come. And after all, the message is what Church is all about anyways... We don't particularly enjoy how flashy the experience is, but to each their own. It's an enjoyable experience and I always walk away feeling like I've learned something and renewed in God's love for us. I do have to say, the lack of face masks was disheartening. For months I've watched online and been told that those in attendance are following the Covid-19 guidelines, but a majority of the people who were there today did not wear a mask once inside and sitting. There were audible coughs, throat clearing, and sniffling. Ordinarily it wouldn't be such a big deal, but during this difficult season it gave me massive anxiety to have a couple sit RIGHT behind us and not wear any masks at all, and cough throughout the service. We had brought some none-christian friends with us this time, because we believed what that it would be somewhat safe, but honestly I regret coming and putting our friends at risk right before the holidays. We will have to get rapid tests, and I don't know if we will be able to spend the holiday with our families. It's really unfortunate the lack of compassion and common sense practices by the parishioners. We will continue to listen online, but it's left a bad taste for us regarding this location and church. Good luck next week for Christmas services.. I hope those in attendance will have more sense and empathy. This isn't. My husband and I were looking for a place we would call home. THIS was it! We weren't married at the time, we were struggling with our own conviction, and we also lived far from Rockwall. All this to say that those reasons couldn't get us to stop coming here. Service is always amazing and so powerful. Worship is our favorite part. Since then, we have also moved closer to Lakepointe and have connected with a group where we do life together. So thankful for Lakepointe and everyone who has become part of this community. read more

This church is larger than most small towns in America. Believe the average attendance on a Sunday for all services combined is 10K +. Some people will say that is to big....that may be true, but the experience today at Sunday worship was very good. Facility is large and up to date. Amenities include a café and bookstore (all proceeds go to finance missions and such). Large selection of programs to choose from for all ages. Caters to a mixed demographic across the board which is very nice. Good music, good worship and good preaching read more

We have been members for almost 30 years. Steve Stroope was an amazing teacher and a very godly man. ( I know his family personally) Steve and lots of others prayed for his successor when he was planning out his retirement and Josh was Gods answer. And we have been blessed by it. He speaks Gods truth boldly. When that happens it stirs things up! We are glad to be in the mix. read more

I've attended here for over 20 years. We came here because we wanted to learn God's word, worship the Lord, and spend time with fellow believers. Some people can be overwhelmed by the size which I can understand because I grew up in a smaller town myself and attended smaller churches. I was really concerned when they did different things liking adding a place for coffee, built in aquariums into the walls of the children's building, added a skate park at the middle/high school area as I thought "how can this be Biblical" and then I realized that these things bring a lot of people to our church that might not otherwise have made it through the doors. When they do make it inside they will hear God's word and therefore have an opportunity to experience his grace and love. Everything done at Lakepointe is intended to be done at the highest level. Does God deserve anything less? read more

Love everything about this church: Pastor Josh is relatable, rooted in the Lord, and leading the church towards authentic worship. The church is working on becoming more diverse, and serves the community in so many ways. I also like the church's focus on missions and the comprehensiveness of this focus, reaching out to the greater Dallas area, throughout the US, and the world. read more

Pastor Josh Howerton does a disservice to the Bible and to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Please stop adding to the gospel, and not teaching the full counsel of the WORD. I don't need the fake gospel of CRT taught which is no where in the Bible. The bible taught, we are all from one race, the human race. We have different malanin in our skin, but we all are born and come from the same person. Jesus doesn't talk about different races, he talks about different ethnos (coming from different parts of the country). Stop perpetuating the hate and divide among the church. It's out of control. 2nd point, you have no respect for 28% of the Bible, which includes Bible prophecy. Yes this must be addressed, but you blow it off. I also watch you on Twitter and apparently you care more about the Mavericks and basketball than anything else. I honestly don't know how you find the time to tweet so much about sports, tweet to NBA players, like NBA comments, and let everyone know how much you LOVE the NBA, AND find time to spend with your family, prepare for sermons and serve the community. I mean you literally spend all day and evening on twitter, which is disturbing in and of itself. You are a disappointment to the church body and to anyone that actually wants to hear the word of God taught in the church. You might want to rethink your position on some things, stop focusing on irrelevant things in the DAYS we are living, and start focusing on what truly matters........Saving souls from eternal HELL. I am frustrated that we live in the DFW area and I can barely find a church that teaches from the BIBLE (book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse). So discouraging and depressing. read more

Don't let the size of the building intimidate you. I was in search of a church and decided to go there at the suggestion of a couple different friends. From the nice lady in the parking lot who walked me to the auditorium to the family who greeted me at the start of service I felt right at home. He demonstrates how we are "in" this world and can elect to adopt the non principle-based ideas of this world , without being "of" this world. Recent messages remind me of the story of Daniel, plucked right out of his own culture by Nebuchadnezzar. Although Daniel would not embrace all of Neb's customs, he stood firm on principles and later became quite influential over much of Neb's empire. So, the pastor's series about people of God, being placed (by God) in certain positions has been one heck of a good series. read more

My daughter took me here today they have a lot going on in this church its huge they have a coffee bar a book store,an area for kids, an area for people to sit with babies, an area for spanish speaking people. It can be hard getting out the lot when its over however i love the way the preacher gets his point across from the bible. Overall i enjoyed myself! Oh my gosh--this is the best church I have ever been to!!! Every time I visit my family in Dallas I have to come to a service here--the Christmas services are amazing. I love Pastor Steve! I keep up online when I'm not in Dallas and I can't wait to move here and attend more often! It's definitely one of my favorite things to do when I'm down here, it's such a great community of wonderful loving people. Pastor Steve really does a great job of spreading God's love to ALL people, including visitors which is awesome. I have gotten phone calls from the staff asking about my experience even though I don't live in the state and even talking to them makes my day better. Best church in Texas!! read more

Been here a few times to check out some of the life classes and some of the social events they offer during the week. I've been to a few of the services and always leave feeling better than when I arrived with a positive message to take with me for the week. It's a big place. I can see how some people might feel lost or intimated in such a large setting but I was fine with it. Lots and lots of people worship here so they must be doing something right and I have found most of the people I've come in contact with to be very warm and welcoming. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge if you don't arrive early but that's to be expected. They've also got a place (don't recall what they call it), where you can purchase coffees & frozen beverages and pick up pastries and hot breakfast items). I love it! read more

I don't worry about no one but the value of what those kids want and finding the appropriate classes. I remember when this church started in rowlett. So much as changed for the better. Great place for families. They have so many things you can get involved in. Yes, it is a very large church community, but they do a great job of getting to individual needs. First let me say that I believe tithing is biblical. However several years ago the church began a capital fundraising campaign of $10 million to update the campus. This was in the midst of the greatest financial melt down since the Great Depression. Note - the capital campaign was above and beyond the tithe. I personally knew of people who did not have the money, but donated with credit cards. That's an entirely different sermon. So after the campaign was completed the remodel was started. During this time they laid off and cut staff because they didn't have the resources. Really? Where are the priorities? This church has become too worldly over the years. This along with the watered down word lead us to leave and now we are happily at a church that is not ashamed to speak the word or fearful that someone may be offended. read more
