(Insert Chandler Bing's voice here) OH MY GOD! I have been searching for a headspa place that offers a blowout afterwards. Many places don't offer it and the headspa process alone is expensive. But when one of my clients said they offer it at her salon, I had to give it a try. I was apprehensive because I am a Newyorican with thick, curly, coiled hair. Not many places know how to handle let alone want to deal with my hair. But not this place! Milla welcomed me with a smile and excitement on tackling my hair. She said she loves working on client with curls but I assured her to just wait. The room isn't closed out, the top is open so you can hear the music and conversations outside of the room, but it's not loud and overbearing so you do have the opportunity to still zen out and relax. And man did I relax!!!!! They don't seem to do the whole video examination of the scalp which I have seen advertised in some places. It was simply go and start on the wash. And I love getting pampered (when I can afford it). I love getting facials, massages, manicured and pedicures. And now I plan on adding this to my roster. My normal hair stylist offers a deep wash but this is a deep clean of the scalp which feels totally different and you feel all the tingles. Head tingles, body tingles, which I felt helped me zone out. Now I will say process itself did feel longer than expected. I showed up 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment and with the blowout process it did take over an hour (again thick, coiled hair) but Milla was so great. I'm a tender headed girl and this woman has a soothing, calming and tender touch. Even with the blowout process. I can't wait for all my friends to come and try it out for themselves. Femme Akoi was the studio that I chose to do my hair and make-up for both myself and my bridesmaids/flower girls on our wedding day. My stylist was Monica and she was absolutely fabulous. She literally transformed me into a showstopping stunner on my wedding day, so much that my husband balled like a baby. Monica was understanding of my needs as a bride and also patient with me when I changed my mind 100x. The other make-up artists were fun and upbeat on my wedding day, beautifying my entire bridal party. While I had a trial at another studio, they were the most responsive, professional, and reasonably priced. I actually ended up doing 2 trials with them to ensure the look I wanted was the right one and boy, did they knock it out of the park. Their studio is absolutely adorable and so chic. Oh my gosh! Misty is wonderful! She's so sweet and has amazing talent. I came in nervous because I had virgin hair that had never been colored before... Their services came highly recommended, so I booked a full makeup and hair session at their Tampa location. Based on price and reputation, I expected something more of a wow factor. The young lady who did my makeup did a nice job, but it wasn't something I couldn't have done myself. I explained to her that I wanted something natural, but also fun and noticeably different than my everyday look. I asked her to brighten up my eyes a little more, but she wasn't quite understanding it. I was in such a time crunch that I didn't get the look I wanted. My hair was okay, but nothing like the hairstyles I saw on Femme Akoi's IG Page. Overall, okay service and experience, but it's apparent there are different skill levels on the team. It would be nice to know beforehand so you can choose and pay based on the individual's skill level. read more

I had an amazing experience. Misty did my hair and to say I was nervous would be an understatement because I haven't found a good stylist since I moved here 6 years ago. Misty was great, the conversation was flowing throughout the whole appointment and I am beyond in love with my hair. I wish I knew about this place before because I would have been in a lot sooner. Femme Akoi is a great salon tucked away in quaint Dunedin. I was honored to be contacted by them to get my makeup and hair done for a special event, and I happily obliged. The owner, Christine is Japanese, thus, the unique name for this studio. The studio is simply and beautifully decorated, so when you walk-in, you feel welcome. I had the pleasure of working with Katlyn who did my makeup and hair. She was very friendly, so easy to talk to, and we had a great time talking about everything. Not only was Katelyn very personable, she did a fantastic job with my makeup and hair. She made everything seem so effortless. Christine and her team are the best! She is also great styling wigs (I have alopecia) but when I had hair she did the BEST coloring and styles. My hair was a messy mane and she had such talent taming it :) If you're looking for a great colorist and stylist, Christine is definitely your girl. She also does beautiful makeup. Booking Femme Akoi was one of the best decisions I made during the planning process- they were one of my favorite vendors! Not only did I feel the prettiest I have ever felt on my wedding day (THANK YOU, CASSIDY AND ALIYAH), but the others from my family who used them felt the same. The hair and makeup came out exactly as I had dreamed of and lasted the entire night (through tears, sweat, dancing, etc.!) Our hair and makeup all photographed super well, and we got so many compliments from our guests. Femme Akoi was always extremely prompt in their responses (from day 1 of contacting them to the day of my wedding), were so incredibly friendly and accommodating, and truly made me feel like they had my best interest in mind (which I can't say of all of my vendors unfortunately). Over a year ago I changed hair dressers and I am never looking back. The owner Christine understood my needs and within one visit got my hair color and cut exactly right just as I wanted it to be.
