Room-Granada

I would not recommend this agency. I do not normally write opinions on the internet, but I had so…read moremany complications with Room Granada, that I feel that I must. The problems I had were connected with: 1) The contract Even before arriving I already felt that something was not quite right. The first contract I got had a mistake (the cost shown was 10 euros more than on the site). The contract was also in Spanish, though all the contact with the company was in English. If I hadn't known the language and wasn't determined to read it through I would have signed a wrongly done contract. When I asked for the correction I received one with the right price, but the dates did not suit me. Upon asking for the third copy, the price was 10 euros more once again. I don't know if it was due to an honest mistake or was it made on purpose, either way it was annoying. 2) The repairs On the first day in the flat I had announced the agency that my window was broken and did not close. I wrote the first day to the agency so they would come and fix it. They never wrote me back nor done anything about it. In the winter, I had to sleep with a window slightly open. 3) The heaters Two of the three portable heaters in the house where broken. It was so cold in the apartment that it was impossible to fall asleep without it. It took us over 5 weeks (in November and December) of asking the agency to come and fix them until we finally got new ones. 4) The room When my flat mate arrived, it turned out that she was sold the same room that I was living in. Instead she had to live 5 months in another room, which was cold and lacking sunlight. 5) The cleaning service We were informed that the cleaning service would happen every two weeks. The service was irregular and some months was only given once, instead of twice. When we asked to cancel the cleaning service (we paid for it 10 euros a month each flat mate, as stated in the contract, and didn't see any results), however, the agency informed us that there was no such possibility. When the cleaning service did come, it was only very general. The apartment was filled with mold for my whole stay there. The private rooms weren't cleaned by the agency before arrival. When one flat mate was leaving and another was coming the agency asked the remaining flat mates to clean the room for the incoming one. I had to do that twice. Once they gave us an option either we wait for the cleaner until 9 pm on a night we already had plans, or we can clean it ourselves. 6) The deposit In the contract, it states that I should have received the deposit back after 45 days after leaving the apartment. After 50 days, I received the deposit 60 euros lower than provided without any other explanation than a vague "deposit refund minus excess invoice" in the title of the transfer. The agency is run by Erasmus students hired as interns. They are not professionals - and being an Erasmus it is really hard to be angry at them being lost as we are. The owners of this business are to be blamed for the poor service. They make a sweet business targeting vulnerable foreigners. Serious improvement is needed if they want to continue. I would recommend anybody to take some time and find a better agency with less problems and more competitive prices. Though my stay in Granada was enjoyable, it wasn't because of this agency.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what was wrong with me when I posted the original review, I think I was…read morejust tired and being an ass. After having stayed in two other hotels after this one--and having nearly a week pass by since I first checked in--my impressions of this lovely, homey place have definitely changed. Quite frankly, I miss it and wish I was still there, enjoying a bottle of wine on the rooftop with that unbeatable view. Although most of what I said in the review remains true, it's definitely NOT as out of the way as I had thought. I realize now that I didn't appreciate the nice things about this hotel as much as I should have, and overly stressed the negative. I would have gone with four stars, but I would have felt a little guilty about NOT leaving five, so that's what I gots to go with. I know this because if/when I come back to Spain and if/when I go back to Granada, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else; I would definitely feel like a little piece of me was going home. Nowhere in Spain did I feel so comfortable. But that isn't the only reason I'm going with five stars--that's the reason I'd be going with four. The people there and the service they provide are the reason I'm going with five stars. There isn't room service, which in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, as you have a little kitchen and refrigerator, and you are encouraged to bring stuff in and cook/drink (though you don't have to clean any of the mess you make). You are provided coffee and a coffee machine, bottle openers, cups, glasses, silverware, plates, and other little things you won't realize you need until you need it. But Anna (the manager) at the front desk--who was not there when we had arrived and had not checked us in--apologized for the awkward check-in (even though we had not mentioned it or complained about it), and let us know that how we were handled was not okay with her. She had been extremely helpful over the phone and through email before we had arrived, and was even more helpful during our stay. Thanks to her and to her hotel/apartements, a little piece of us will always remain in Granada.
