It gets crowded on the weekends. If you try and stagger the time that you go, it may not be as busy. Parking is meter/paid parking, but you may luck up and find free parking. It's a must if you are ever visiting STL or if you simply want to go to the farmers market!! I love going to the Soulard spice shop. It is one of my favourites.I have a few preferred produce stands i love going to for fresh fruits and vegetables. And don't forget about the flower shop.

Wait til the later hours of the day.. and every shop will be empty that you went for! I've learned this too many times in my sleep-in days, to get there way too late to find so many of the shops sold out, or the "runts" of the sales left. So figure out Early and then getup before then! Step 3: Get in your car and go shopping!!! (Follow the map of course!) Plain and simple you want fresh produce.. this is where you go. Whether it's veggies,. meats, baked goods, coffee, soaps, sweets, snacks, and even alchy beverages if you so desire! (and you just might as the day goes on) Get there early and load up! (Just warning you, you may have to make a few runs between your shops and your car, considering what you -could- load up on. Now as stated by many, it's a smorgasboard of what you can find, all along the entire market. (but just a word of advice, whatever you buy at the market, please clean and store PROPERLY as soon as you get home, this is a farmer's market and you can lose some fresh produce REALLY QUICK!) And just remember you're going to have to fight your way through the crowds. because EVERYONE and their relative knows to come here. Fresh made ice cream pops, baked breads and treats, organic spices, cold and hot coffee booth, jewelry, fresh flowers, excellent woodcrafts, fresh honey and of course Miss Becky's salsa shack. She is always serving up fresh cooked tortilla chips and several of her best homemade salsas. Plus live music. It's worth it to check it out. Some vendors are on and off weeks. I would've said the same until I realized that the good folks at the Bottleworks allow the farmers to sell their goods indoors during the chillier, off-season months. Having had lovely weather earlier this week, they decided to hold the market outdoors this morning, which, in my opinion, was still a bit too early. Brrrr! But, there was hot coffee and other belly-warming goods on hand, so all was well. Cheery, freshly-cut Spring daffodils waved at us as we checked out the farmers' wares. Farm fresh eggs! Grass-fed beef! Fresh pasta! Amazing goat cheese! Overwintered spinach and fresh arugula and kale! Baked goods, jams & jellies and all sorts of things to make tummies happy! I love farmers markets and the Maplewood one is pretty great. Even better when it's warm and sunny outside, because then the harvest is particularly diverse and bountiful. Once it's growing season and the market is in full-swing, I recommend showing up when the market opens. Lines will already be forming. And I *will* elbow my way through the crowd for a few pints of Biver Farms strawberries.
