I had Rocky Mountain chimney come out and examine it, and they were very thorough and walked me through why there were no issues. It is granted an unusual set up, but still within code and no safety issues. I also had them sweep it while they were there and they did a very good job. Pricing was more than reasonable for the inspection which took over an hour and the sweeping. The owner was very professional, and although he hasn't been doing this type of work for many years, I felt very comfortable that he knew very much what he was talking about and that he had been well trained. Had them come out and unfortunately was told that my fireplace insert was not up to code, a fire hazard, and unfortunately no need to even preform the cleaning and inspection because it fails already. I was given a few scenarios for removing the insert and it was a "worst case to best case" which was like $20,000 to $0. No chance we would fix a $20,000 repair but figured on the lower like $500 side for a new damper would be worth it. So we had them remove the insert, do a cleaning and inspection. Now here's where some unethical companies may have tried to charge something, anything. But Wise Hook completed the inspection and everything was good and safe, no additional items needed! There were 5 vents just totally skipped over and not covered so I walked back out to the truck and asked them for materials to cover the missed vents, they did apologize but still I shouldn't be having to do that. walking around rignt after they left I have broken vents, a vent that is hanging out of the ceiling, plastic still on a vent that was half in half out and broken...
