We chose Carrigaline Court for our two-night stay near Cork for a few reasons:…read more 1. Free car park 2. Walking proximity to restaurants and bars 3. Less expensive stay than in Cork Central 4. Full leisure center The front desk staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms were comfortable - the usual amenities were available (hair dryer, trouser press, ironing board, hot water heater). The pool, sauna, and steam room were nice. Mind that a swim cap is needed to use the pool, and a shower in between is required for use of each room. Why not five stars for Carrigaline Court? The Collins Bar - that's why. The service is fantastic everywhere else in the hotel, but not here. All we wanted was a nightcap and dessert, and since the Bistro was closed, the bar was our only option. We sat down for 20 minutes before we could flag someone down. Our server could not understand what we wanted (apparently not everyone in Ireland knows what an Irish coffee is), and the bartender forgot our order of water three times before we got really frustrated. Then they had the gall to give us the check after such terrible service! Never again. Overall - great night's stay, but you're better off elsewhere for drinks.

I had eaten in the bar area on a few occasions in the past but last Saturday night was my first experience of the Bistro and I feel I have got to share my experience with anyone who is interested! In fact my party included a group of 12 adults, all celebrating a special birthday of one of my sisters. From start to finish, the service was impeccable, friendly, attentive and efficient - and I can tell you it was not easy to please this group and have patience waiting for everyone to select their food choice. But, that was not an easy task as the choice was unbelievably large - there was such a fast array of food choices on both starters and mains! We had actually pre-booked their special 2 course menu of starters and mains at €19.99 per head, plus tea/coffee (we had provided our own lovely homemade cake for dessert which was used for the candle blowing out ceremony! - how nice that the staff agreed to this without hesitation and were very happy to cut and serve the cake with accompanying icecream for a little extra charge). Without going into detail, the huge range of starters included a number of fish dishes, duck, chicken, pates, salads, soups etc, and all the mains were just fantastic with a large selection of local fish dishes being a specialty, including monkfish, which is normally quite expensive in most restaurants. Our table was located in a lovely cosy and warm corner of the restaurant, which was almost private for our party, and when the food arrived it was served by 3 members of staff so that we all got our food almost at the same time. The presentation was wonderful, piping hot and beautifully presented food. Extra bowls of yummy creamy garlic potatoes were served for sharing as well as mashed potatoes and chips, not to mention extra bowls of salad and vegetables. A most wonderful experience from start to finish and not one of us could find fault with a single thing so that's saying something. It is a birthday celebration that my sister will remember for a long time to come. Well done to t he Carrigaline Court Hotel and their friendly and efficient waiting staff at the Bistro.

This is a beautiful BnB right on the main road through Kinsale. This makes parking a trick, but if…read moreyou can find parking on the street in front, you can stay there all night if you pay the meter past 630pm. The facility was well cared for and nicely decorated. Check in is actually on the second floor in the reception office, unless they arent there, then you have to go down the street to the Blue Haven to check in. The carpet was so plush that the wheels on our roller bags would barely roll..lol. Our room was huge and inviting with great touches like bottles of water, towel warmer, and a deep large tub. Our room key was attached to a LARGE key ring which was uncomfortable to carry and the door handle was only for show, which took a minute to figure out. The elevator was tiny, but very much appreciated! The cafe downstairs had a good selection of breakfasts for guests and they made sure to address guests before walk in customers. This place was a real treat and we would love to stay here if we make it back to Kinsale.

We all checked out an evening early. Our friend's room was refunded for the second night, ours was not. We had no transportation without our friend's vehicle, so we could not stay the second evening either. Would not recommend staying here or the Blue Haven, its sister hotel. Very poor customer service. Never replied to my emails about this situation.

She was personable and attentive and gave us a map with some recommendations for places to go. Also, Giselle spent time giving us suggestions on all the great spots to see. The rooms were immaculate, very clean and loved the kitchenette area complete with oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and plates with silverware. The water pressure was great as were the toiletries. The morning breakfast buffet had a lot of different foods such as breads, pastries, overnight oats, eggs, sausage and bacon and amazing coffee. The buffet was well supplied and the customer service was exceptional all the way around. I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Cork.

I stayed at the Moxy in Cork just for two nights and I really enjoyed myself. This is a brand new…read moreMoxy which I assume took over another former hotel. The place is really nice inside with lots of updates and the trendy decor you'd expect from a Moxy. I've stayed in a few Moxy hotels in NYC and enjoyed my stays. The rooms are always small but economical with plenty of storage for such a small space. That is exactly how this Moxy was, too. The bed was very comfy and the TV had the best selection of channels I experienced from any hotel in Ireland during my stay. There's a desk that folds out from the wall, a small stool, a nook with a seat, and hooks for you to hang your clothes. I really appreciated the lighting since it wasn't just overwhelming overhead lighting. The location is unbeatable as well. Right in the middle of Cork overlooking the river. There's plenty of great bars and restaurants on that side of the river but even more fun places to explore across the way. Everything I wanted to eat and drink was no more than a 15 minute walk away. The reason for the four stars is that the shower, while very nice upon first look, leaked water onto the floor. This was one of the only hotels I saw in Ireland which had a full glass shower door which closed (hallelujah!) but it somehow STILL leaked water onto the ground. Upon brief inspection, I believe the cause may be some sort of construction error. The glass didn't seem to be properly fitted. The other issue I had was with the bathroom door. It's one of those annoying barn doors which slides and this particular door would get stuck and jam if closed all the way. Being alone in the room, this wasn't a make or break issue but if I was traveling with alongside someone, I'd definitely want that door to shut properly and I definitely wouldn't want to be concerned with how I'd get back out. The bar downstairs is really cute and I found all the staff members to be absolutely delightful. From check-in to cocktails to asking questions about the bus system and mailing a postcard, every single staff member was so friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed my time spent with the bartenders, Olivia and Chris, who provided great drinks and even greater conversation. Being that it's a new hotel, I'm guessing there's just a few kinks that need to be worked out in terms of construction. I'd probably still return despite those issues. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
