The acoustics are great, and there's plenty of room to stand, to dance, or to sit. It's clearly family friendly, and it was full of music lovers of all ages. You can tell that the Cedar Culture Center is really made with its community in mind. In addition to the great concert experience, I had a great time getting my beverage --they have a wonderful concessions area with a great selection of snacks and drinks, including a very respectable selection of non-alcoholic options. The people behind the counter were super nice and helpful as well. It was really easy for me to find street parking as well. I will definitely keep my eyes out for more good shows here.

I was pumped when my upcoming wedding band Clean Plate Club (CPC) got to open here which is my reason for visiting. I'm not much of a concert girly so this was a big step for me. There is a tiny parking lot in the back, otherwise, a few blocks down in the residential streets there is complimentary parking - just ensure you follow the sign rules as it goes by odd and even sides based on the date. To lead with parking confusion is why I'm giving this venue 4 stars. Walking as a single woman for a night show by University is not something I would ever suggest unless you have a buddy with. For this venue, I would recommend the buddy system or Uber. The venue has a normal bouncer, ID check and tickets can be purchased in advance via the AXS app or onsite. Once inside, the venue is breathable and long. The stage sits at the opposite side of entry and there is a long bar on the side wall, a few tables in the back, and then standing room for most concerts. My friend and I ordered a drink from the bar and then weaseled our way to the front to support CPC. The sound, lighting and stage was the best! We had a great time. Looks like there is a basement here (I never visited it) and that food is served. Also can't speak for this but something to look into. Thanks, Turf Club!!

I absolutely love coming to events at the Varsity Theater. It's in the perfect location in dinky…read moretown with lots to do before and after a show. I've attended a bunch of concerts here and the atmosphere is chill, fun, and intimate. Bar staff is fast and I like the selection of drinks they offer. Most recently they even had 2 huge jugs of ice water and cups for self service was a huge plus in my opinion. I never have to wait to get into this venue and really have never had a negative experience.

Granted, I can bike to the Fair but it is THIS STAGE that has so many amazing and talented artists every single year. I only have pics of three of the bands but here's a brief line-up of the bands that I've seen here free (minus my State Fair entrance): - EnVogue - Blue Oyster Cult - Marty Stuart - Jayhawks - Marky Ramone - Semisonic What else can you say? It's general admission so if you want a great seat, you can camp out all day if you want. Plus the bands are always there for 2 nights. In addition, the Food Building is right across the street and you have Leinie's serving their tasty swill right there and the lines are always reasonable. Do yourself a favor and catch a show here if you never have.

I've seen Montgomery Gentry and Paulette Carlson of Highway 101 here in the past. Today I saw a John Denver Tribute band and a Jimmy Buffett Tribute band and both had the same lead singer. This is a tough one, as I love me some Meritage and some oysters, but alas, this event was pretty…read moredisappointing. This was the second year of Oysterfest. While they were certainly more ambitious this year, it appears it has tried to grow too quickly for its own good. The event was very packed for the two hours or so I was in attendance which resulted in very long waits for, well, everything really. Attendees either had passes for a dozen oysters or unlimited oysters if you bought the VIP pass (I assume those that chose the latter have some buyer's remorse). After waiting for about 30 minutes to try to the first variety, then about 50 minutes to try another I threw in the towel. I feel bad for the shuckers, who for the most part were working as quickly as possible. However, when shucking that many oysters it's impossible for things to go smoothly and I had very few oysters that didn't have shells, etc. in the final product (it didn't help they were stacking shucked ones on top of each other either). I applaud the initiative and hopefully with another year of experience under their belts the Klein's will have a successful event next year, though I'll probably just stick with bellying up to the raw bar at Meritage every once in awhile.

They were all volunteers and did great! The music was excellent with different bands changing out throughout the day. The only long wait was for the hot food because it had to be cooked it makes sense there would be a line. Some of the hot foods were Oysters Meritage which everyone loved in our group, crepes was another big hit, grilled lobster tail was good but small, our friends had pork bbq sandwich which they loved. Fries with bernaise sauce was a favorite. We will definitely do this event again! You can either buy tickets in advanced which there are different levels like all you can eat oysters (doesn't include hot food) or a dozen or pay as you eat. If you really love oysters it makes sense to get all you can eat VIP pass as my friend had 5 dozen on her pass!

Longhouse Feast: I believe I found their event on Facebook…read moreand was able to secure a ticket via Eventbrite. I am happy that I had the opportunity to go to their Longhouse Feast. As I saw some comments complaining that the ticket prices are steep for this feast, but I think it is worth it. It is a 2-hour event. The event took place at Asfolk, a Viking martial art facility. When I entered Asfolk, I felt like I have transported to historic Viking times. The staff members at Viking Festival Minnesota are very friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, and professional. Per their Facebook event page and eventbrite, guests can choose to wear Viking clothes, which I dressed as a shield-maiden, so that was fun and received positive compliments. The food offered at the Longhouse Feast was delicious and a lot of food were given! It was a 4-course dinner and we had drink tokens to redeem mead, beer, or wine. I never like to drink alcohol in my life, but that Acerglyn (maple mead) was delicious!!! I really enjoy the stories about Thor, Loki, Freyja, Heimdall, and Odin. I also enjoyed watching the fighting demonstration with swords, axes, and spears. I also had the opportunity to speak to the members at Viking Festival and learned more about Viking culture.... and held a sword! I look forward to what Viking Fest of Minnesota will continue to offer. I definitely look forward to their festival in October - I already bought my tickets!
