New Dimensions - Jeff after a hard day....

    New Dimensions

    (8 reviews)

A few months ago, getting ready for the Spring weather we were assessing our patio furniture. While…read morein storage we found one of the Brown Jordan chairs had been damaged to the point that it was not functional. We went to Patio World in San Rafael and found that they don't make this style anymore and the new selection was not to our liking. The new furniture just didn't seem to have the same quality. We were then informed that the damage could be repaired by the sales associate. We were given a few repair shops. But found that New Dimensions was the only factory trained one, which was important to my wife and myself in making our choice. We called and the owner (Peter) answered HIMSELF! He was able to see us in the same week we called, which we found was very prompt. We were also impressed that Peter came to pick up the furniture and when it was done he dropped it off. Not only did we find this incredibly helpful on our end since we did not have to make two round trips to the shop, it was also very personable. As for the quality of the repair, we first were excited to see all the various color options, for both the sling and the frame, for Brown Jordan which was more than the show room had to offer! The turn around time from when the furniture was picked up and then later delivered was within reason even though after Peter got back to his shop he found that a few of the chairs needed welding. He called us and told us of the additional work which we thought would require additional time, but it did not! There was additional cost due to more work, which we understood. But still, the cost was 25% of the cost of if we bought new. We also appreciated the call before the work was done. A few weeks later Peter was back with our better than they were, like new furniture! All the plastic end caps were replaced which shows attention to detail! So, in a nutshell, we were very satisfied with New Dimensions' service and we highly recommend them to everyone who is in need of furniture repair.

Both were done as what we had heard about Pinocchio Furniture Restoration - the work was done by true craftsmen. They didn't just "do it" what they did was to "do it RIGHT." It's only about 30 mins from our house in Petaluma. The challenge is FINDING the place the first time. I think that using Apple or Google maps needs to be accented by talking to the folks at Pinocchio to find out how to do it. we just followed Google, but didn't get there and had to ask a worker working outside his place of business and said we took the wrong driveway. And when we did that we saw a sign that pointed to where Pinocchio was. We had a good laugh! And didn't have a problem when we returned to pick up the chair!

I ended up having him take the whole thing to fix bad previous repairs that were done before we acquired it. He came when he said he would, gave me an estimate and moved the entire thing to his shop. We got it back within a week, he charged me at the lower end of his quote, which was a reasonable price for such specialized work, and it looks better than it ever has. I ended up sending 3 chairs with him to fix and plan to go to him for some custom work. Highly recommend!

I reached out via Yelp and didn't get a response after the initial response. After a little more…read morethan 1 week of waiting and having my other furniture refinish appointment get delayed, I read a review saying the owner was more responsive over text message and gave it a shot. It was about 11pm so I didn't expect a response until the next morning but I got rapid fire responses and was able to schedule an appointment the following week after confirming a few details (namely, insurance to cover the table if it is damaged) I wanted to re-finish an epoxy resin waterfall table that I messed up on and wanted to restore its matte finish. The table was picked up and I was told to expect it to be done within 1 week. About a week went by, I checked in for any updates and pictures and was told they just put on the first coat. Another week went by and the second coat was applied but was told the issue prior to the work is still visible. I was then upsold to switch to CV (previous was using rubio/osmo to finish). Being fairly unknowledgable about finishes, I asked a few questions and was just told it was better. I did some basic research (chatgpt, reddit, youtube, etc.) and was fine with it. It cost an extra $100 but the labor to re-sand the surface to remove the rubio applied was covered. All in all, about 3 weeks went by and I received the refinished product. Overall, I it looks as I wanted it to. Mauricio handled the initial pickup and subsequent re-delivery so the process is very convenient if you are busy and don't want to plan how to transport heavy furniture. Some notes: - Its best to reach out via text message to Mauricio and to do so at some regular cadence if you want updates. Perhaps calling would be more expedient if you have the time. - There's a lot of promises or statements that were not followed through (e.g. I'll send an invoice by end of day, I'll send updated pictures by end of day, etc.). See first point. - Estimate may be over-exaggerated. The project went from 1 week to 3 weeks. - It would be nice to do a pros/cons breakdown or simply spend a few sentence educating clients on the trade off of finishes (e.g. Rubio vs Osmo, Rubio vs CV, etc.).
