We have never been so thankful for a blocked sewer. Let me explain...we were going to a show at…read morethe Seymour Centre and were going to grab a bite to eat at a little hole in the wall place on City Road. But the sewers were blocked and had huge crews of people working on them. The smell was...interesting and not conducive to dining, so we retreated round the corner onto Glebe Point Road and found this place. We were in a hurry so didn't have time for a full meal but what we had was fantastic. Beautiful spicy sausages. Baked kibbeh. A sort of lamb ravioli with rice and an amazing goat yoghurt sauce. They had some beautiful looking desserts as well but we didn't have time. They also had a huge range of home made traditional pickles that I am dying to try. We will definitely have to go back for a more leisurely meal when we aren't rushing to be somewhere else.

I have come here three times now and have tried almost everything on the menu. The best dishes, in…read moremy opinion, are: DIPS - hoummos with lamb and pine nuts; yoghurt with cucumber (tzatziki) SALADS - fatoush; tabouli MAINS - lamb mansaf; shishbarak; chicken shawarma; samkeh-harra SIDES - potato coriander; falafel; kebeh (baked or fried) If you come in a large group, I'd recommend ordering a la carte rather than any of the banquets. A la carte will get you more food for the same amount of money, with a better variety of dishes. Service here is generally quite friendly, although the last time I came there was a minor hiccup with our bill. When I went to the front counter to pay, I pointed out to the owner that one of the dishes we'd ordered hadn't been served to us, and I requested that he remove it from the bill. He checked my story with our waitress, who insisted (rather aggressively, I thought) that she had brought the dish out. After the waitress was out of earshot, the owner told me he was 'in an uncomfortable situation' because the waitress (note: I call her a waitress because she served us our food, but she could have been a manager or co-owner) had 'been working at the restaurant for 20 years' and 'wouldn't lie'. I maintained that I wasn't lying either. To his credit, he accepted my story and removed the item from our bill.

Anyway, I ordered a wrap and couldn't really understand the menu, it seemed to repeat fries, pickles and chicken in the wrap. Then when it arrived I understood. There is a mammoth amount of chicken, fries and pickles IN the wrap - fries inside the wrap. Fries. Inside. The. Wrap. I think I woke up 3 hours later from a carb coma. Go here. Be amazed by the fries in wrap. With pickles.

We appreciated the portion of chippies but they were drier than the desert of the jacoran and appeared older than the ghosts of benjamin past. The chilli dip didn't pair nicely with the chippies which is always a warning sign. The burgies tasted kinda yum but a little dry and could've used a bit more slop. One of the friendjamin ordered salad with his chicky but it came with chippie instead and the extra bread and garlic dip were deemed useless. It almost made him ascend into the hall of shadows and scream with anger...We even ordered the burger that Tayta himself designed...The Friendjamin 3 had never met a chicken man like Tayta to be so cavalier with his reputation...

You order at the front register, and they bring your order to you. I've only tried their hojicha latte and taro latte, but they are the best lattes (no coffee) I've ever had. They're so flavorful and rich with a fluffy foam design on top. The drink itself is smooth and creamy but not overly sweet. Hits the spot!

All coffees are not created equal…read more I know this because of Glider. The original is in Potts Point, this is the new venue, and it's an absolute corker. They've set up shop in a teeny tiny Lilliputian cottage in Kensington Lane in the new Central Park precinct. It backs onto Spice Alley and has light-filled interiors that are all white walls and light wood and it feel positively Scandinavian. Then there's the coffee. Good lord, man. It comes served in these custom cups, they're kind of grainy and glazed and feel like they've been hewn out of very light sandstone by some unnamed master craftsman who will die a nobody but be recognised posthumously as one of the finest artisans of this or any age, Van Gogh style. The barista had the obligatory mustache but boy, did this dude know what service felt like. Polite, friendly, charming, without being overbearing. Win stars out of five. Top class, thank you and goodnight.
