Only recently opened in the city, Fiefy's is located slightly inside the bottom of a bank building on the busy office area of Pirie Street.
It's all bout the coffee here, with Fiefy (owner and main barista) a real drawcard, she is one of SA's most decorated baristas - who recently placed 5th in the World at latte art. She is also South Australian Barista Champion for 2010, 6th in the Australian Nationals and 1st Runner-up in the National Thailand Barista Championship.
She can do all sorts of designs in your coffee when there is time, and the coffee tastes pretty damn good too.
One thing though, their coffee is from a Geelong based company, not here in SA like many other boutique coffee places.
The design and marekting of the store is a little over the top in my opinion, the colour is a beautiful aqua (although slightly childish) with her name everywhere, and I mean everywhere!! Yes her name is the name of the coffee shop, but every little thing in the whole place has her name plastered all over it. But I suppose if you are that good, people in the industry know your name and you want to show it off.
Fiefy's has a small selection of foccacias, cakes, biscuits etc, but the coffee is the main attraction.
I myself am one for the hot chocolate, and Fiefy's use Belgian chocolate and have a few variations including white, chilli and dark. The hot chocolate was delicious and silky, but lots of cafes now use Belgian chocolate.
It's a little bit hard to get to when just generally out and about in town, so more business people are customers or you have to walk a fair way from the mall.
Honestly, the overbranding of her business and the logo really don't do it for me, and since she is such a big name I don't think she needs it. But the coffee and chocolate is right up there with my other favourite boutique cafes. read more
