Via the staff and wandering around I discovered Tamalin Baumgarten and Heidi Lang Parrinello - Both HUGELY talented artists with very accessible work. I'd bought a few nice pieces of wampum jewelry for my wife and one of Heidis smaller pieces ( which was sold, but she did another one - for a SUPER reasonable price, I might add...)but decided to Purchase a larger piece by The same artist for Christmas- the shipping cost was high, but it is fair and there was no sales tax! they called me to see if I wanted it expedited - super thoughtful, as usual. The owner is very knowledgeable, with a strong interest in textiles, ceramics and crafts. She travels during the winter in order to find new emerging artists, but she also features the best local artists. Prices run the gamut from affordable to out of sight. Openings are fun and friendly. The staff is really helpful, too. This gallery has stood the test of time, and it deserves a shout out. It is a bit pricey but reasonable and there are still quite a few pieces that I wish I could have taken home with me, especially the Paul Hamilton ice cream pieces. The owner was extremely knowledgeable about the artists and recommended others for us to check out. I am definitely adding North Water to my list of places to visit again on our next trip to the island.

We went on a Sunday and there was a DJ there spinning Prince tunes. It was awesome. He shared that he is only there on Sundays but it was a really solid addition to the overall vibe. Although it is not a particulary big museum it was well done and informative with some great exhibits. I loved the Tom Maley exhibit and learning more about this artist as well as the Jaws exhibit. The museum itself was set in a beautiful setting high up on a hill. It was worth the visit for sure.

All of the staff there were amazing as well. The museum had a small but serviceable section on Jaws and I appreciated the movie clips that they had. As a history teacher I appreciated the sections on the history of the island and the shipwrecks around the area. Overall we spend about a little over an hour there. It was a nice time but for $21 for adults I did find it to be on the higher end of museums I've been to. But if you're in the area and have the time I do recommend stopping by.
