World class art glass, with fun shows and demonstrations of glass blowing. I still treasure the large green vase I bought here on a visit, and it holds seasonal flowers without a flaw. The glass artists who show here are world renown. Stunning engraved glass bowls layered with multitudes of color, or etched and engraved work, all demonstrate the very best of glass blowing techniques. If you drive by this place in a mad rush to get somewhere else, you've missed one of the island's classiest art galleries. Where else are you encouraged to spend as long as you want watching gorgeous, well built men blow glass? It does not get much better than this. In a way, these guys are like a slow moving modern dance troop without the white tights and pointed toes. This is a very popular destination on rainy days when the beach is not an option, so the crowds can block your precious view. (Note how many of us women make up the crowd.) I prefer stopping by when I have no agenda and can just take my sweet time. The gallery is filled with examples of their work and there's usually a gallery assistant who can answer your questions. Some of the items are surprisingly affordable. I don't know of too many art galleries where you can watch the artists at work. It will give you a new appreciation for this art form- and for good looking biceps. read more

The rain rotation in MV consists of: 1) Glassworks 2) Bunch of Grapes 3) Mad Martha's 4) movies (depending on what's playing) So if you go to Glassworks on a rainy day, you might just miss all the action. And it is definitely worth seeing the magic of glass blowing -- half-science, half-dance, this is just pure brilliance. I actually prefer the performance of it all far more than I like the gallery (which seems a bit overpriced to me). Definitely worth seeing though. read more

Joey is the best! My grandpa is 80 and is a very inquisitive man and has been talking Joey's ear off about glass for the last hour. He has been so patient and is answering every single one of my grandpas many questions. The staff is so wonderful and friendly! They were so diligent with their COVID protocols and so wonderful. This is a beautiful shop, a bit off the beaten path but worth a trip. Try to come when they are blowing glass. They have a lot of beautiful unique pieces, a wonderful place to bring home a one of a kind souvenir by a local artist. Pieces range in price from $40 up to thousands for the high end art pieces in the gallery upstairs. I got a beautiful large base for $350. The lady serving us was wonderful, very helpful and took the time to bring out extra pieces from the stock room she thought we might like to see. read more

Nothing in this store is cheap, but the things they have are quite lovely. I purchased a spiral bud vase that was $135, and definitely on the more expensive side, but it was something j ha never seen before. The bonus: you can watch the glassmakers make their creations right in font of you. They explain to you what they're doing while their doing it as well, so you get a better idea of how glass is made. Definitely an educational shopping experience! read more

If you love glass work you must stop here. The glass work are little pieces of art. It was fun watching them blow and sculpt the glass into the pieces that are sold in the store. I really like the Pumpkin collection. I definitely want to come back and few of theses, they were beautiful glass pumpkins for the fall. The items a pricey but worth it. read more

I stopped in the Glassworks one rainy afternoon trying to kill some boredom..well this place was just great. The store and gallery presents some of the best works of handcrafted glass you every want to see. Beautiful display cases and hand blown pieces are displayed throughout the gallery. They have a artist there working blown glass for your viewing and they were eager to answer my questions. It was very interesting. Don't wait for a rain day to visit. read more

I was just in the Glass works today and it was just such a beautiful gallery. They had a glassblower from Italy working on the glassblowing. They said that they flew him in for a show they are having this weekend on Sunday- I'm definitely going! It was so great to watch them make the vases, it is like a dance. I bought a set of hand made glasses that I will treasure forever. read more
