First of all, the team works with you from the start to customize your menu. We were doing a wine forward wedding where we selected all of our wines, and we were able to give them a heads up so that the food was paired nicely. Also, my husband and I come from different cultural backgrounds, and we were able to include that in our menu. For example, we had mini Cuban Sandwiches as a part of the passed apps (I still crave them, they were amazing!) and Filipino food like lumpia and pancit as a late night snack. They executed these dishes perfectly, in addition to what was an incredible family-style dinner service that was also customized to our tastes and favorite food. Field To Table was the EASIEST wedding decision we made, and the very first vendor we booked right after choosing our venue and finalizing the date. I'd enjoyed their food at weddings before, and it was always exceptional! Time and time again, I enjoyed some of the tastiest dishes I'd ever enjoyed ANYWHERE at weddings where Field To Table was providing catering services, so we booked them as soon as possible for our own celebration. At our menu tasting a few months before our wedding, I knew I'd be thrilled with the choices, but my now-husband, father, and wedding planner were also raving about each course coming out of the kitchen. Additionally, Field To Table's tasting room and kitchen space in Nipomo is so lovely and a comfortable, relaxing, welcoming environment. It was such a fun part of the planning process to meet with Tracy and Alex and preview our wedding menu! I dreamed about our hors d'oeuvres (coconut milk ceviche, goat cheese croquettes, and ahi poke were my favorites) and the main course of macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi with creamed corn risotto -- just TYPING that makes me hungry for one of the most delicious dishes ever! On the wedding day, I refused to let servers clear my plate because I insisted on finishing my risotto after getting pulled away for sunset portraits and our first dance. Field To Table also catered our rehearsal dinner (our guests are STILL talking about the best soup they ever tasted, the zuppa toscana!) and late-night bites at the wedding. My husband and I stood over the kitchen island at our venue after all our friends and family had departed and enjoyed the leftover grilled cheese with tomato soup -- YUM. I might have just been hungry after all the excitement of the evening, but I'm convinced that was the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. I'm pretty sure our guests will be talking about the food for years to come; Field To Table delivered the most incredible (and delicious) experience for our friends and family, and we'll be forever grateful to them for taking such good care of us! *review is for quote only, we did not pick as our caterer* We had quite possibly the worst interactions with the account manager, Alex. We very much understand how hard things have been for vendors during COVID (pretty much all of our wedding vendors have been struggling). But all of our vendors made sure to jump on the phone, talk with us through their circumstances except this one. The single biggest issue we had with Field to Table is that they never called us and they failed to provide us with all the information we needed upfront until after we followed up to ask the right questions to get that information. And while they were always nice, they didn't make any effort to win or keep our business. We connected Dec 22nd initially. I'll give them credit that they were quick to get back to us about our menu vision and a pricing quote based on our headcount before going forward with building the menu. The warning sign was when he said "we have one spot left for your date." "$75-90 per person [for a 30 person wedding]. This price wraps in everything we think you will need, including a non-alcoholic beverage station, tray-passed appetizers + a stationary grazing table, buffet-style dinner, coffee & tea station, service staff, chefs, and all necessary taxes & fees - everything is included upfront with no unexpected surprises after the fact." Sounds pretty great, right? But he told us it would be 3 weeks before the chef could get to our menu because they'd "received a flood of new inquiries and the process is so personalized." He also said there wasn't any way he could give us a contract with all the details until the menu was done. So, we had to wait a month at least to know the cost for our biggest line-item in our budget. Stressful? I'd say so. Especially when 3 weeks passed and we didn't hear anything back. Only when we emailed them on Jan 11th did they share that they didn't have the menu ready still and it was going to be a longer (indefinite) wait period. And that it was going to cost even more than what he'd quoted us per person. Alex failed to mention that 1) they no longer offering bartending services and they would have to outsource (a pretty important detail to tell your potential customer when you're trying to book a caterer...most provide basic bartending services 2) that we needed to rent a kitchen (based on 4 conversations we had with caterers, it was 50/50 if they had their own supplies they like to bring 3) several other pretty basic catering setup details weren't included in the pricing. It was a huge shock factor when we were told a rough estimate of $500-650 extra for bartending and then sent over an even more detailed list of other costs we might incur. -Potable Water, if not provided by the venue - $1 per person -Ceremony Chair Moving/Breakdown - $1 per chair -Garbage Removal, if not provided by the venue - $150 -Cake Cutting & Service (free) ---- AS IT SHOULD BE!!! -Ice Delivery for Bar, if not provided by bar company - TBD, based on complexity/extent of bar offerings -Table Side Wine Service & Champagne Pouring, if not provided by bar company - TBD -Kitchen rentals - TBD based on what is provided at the venue! Had he spoken with us on call in first place to talk with us about our venue and needs, none of this would have happened. Every time we traded emails after the initial quote, it was only because we emailed him. The most tone-deaf part was when he referenced rentals, potable water, garbage removal based on what our venue had and that they expected there to be some sort of kitchen access. Our venue was a winery, "XX Winery" was in the title of our email. 90% of wineries don't have kitchens! Again, if we had spoken live together this would have been cleared up. We told him upfront and repeatedly that we needed to know the cost ASAP. We also expressed concern and disappointment directly - they got feedback in real-time from us (updated: Chastizing us that we didn't give them feedback is even worse and is not an apology). Despite numerous follow-up emails, sharing extreme details he still couldn't give us the full quote. The menu wouldn't have impacted bartending setup and services, table/chair set up - only kitchen rentals - we were completely dumbfounded by why they couldn't give us a quote of additional services beyond the menu and rentals. The long wait sucked, the customer care sucked, we never once felt like they cared about us as a customer or wanted our business. (Clarification update: It made us feel like our 30 person wedding wasn't as important as their bigger clients). Having the chef designing the menu be the bottleneck is not an efficient way to run a catering business. I hate having to write a bad review during a time when businesses are hurting, but bad service is bad service. Anyone planning their wedding is just as stressed out and would want to know possible risks of what they're getting into. They should have just said "we can't take you." read more

As an event planner I've had lots of "wedding" food in my 18 years of business. We hired Field to Table in 2020 for an event and every guest was blown away by their food. It was a cold evening and everything was piping hot. There were vegan guests and gluten intolerant guests and both were thrilled by their meals. We have had their delectable food at catered events before over the years and have always been delighted by the fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced flavors and thoughtful presentations. For Mother's Day, we ordered their "Surf & Turf" hot and ready to eat meal package for my husband's mom and step-dad. They were blown away by the food and raved about every bite. Just recently, we ordered their July 4th par-cooked and ready to reheat bbq meal. HOLY SMOKES! Not only did everything reheat perfectly, but everything was amazing. It was advertised as a meal for a family of 4, but just my husband and I split everything. The portions were SO generous, that we were able to make 4 different and distinct meals out of everything that was included (3 types of meats, rolls, green salad, several sides and corn bread). The ordering process is simple via their online site, curbside pick-up was a breeze and the heating instructions were spot on. We were SO FORTUNATE to have had Field to Table cater our wedding! Due to an unfortunate experience with another local caterer, we had to change our catering less than two months from the big day! The coordinating girls at Field to Table were very attentive and understanding of our situation! By a miracle, we were able to hire the staff at Field to Table to cater our wedding! We were invited to come in for a tasting immediately after booking. I brought my husband and parents with me, and we all had the time of our life! Field to Table catered our family group of 20 for our son's graduation. There was universal agreement that the food was fantastic. Simple yet flavorful. The only reason I didn't give them five stars was because of a discrepancy about the amount of food we received. We were able to resolve the issue, and I can whole-heartedly endorse Field to Table for any event. I know of at least two more graduations coming up in the next few years, and I will be recommending Field to Table as a caterer. read more
