I'm so HAPPY we followed his advice! The meal was wonderful and the ambiance great. (We also enjoyed his next recommendation- Bistro 112, for our Anniversary dinner) Then we met Miriam (another great conversation), and Hamish (the FRIENDLY dog). My family went to Lily B&B for Thanksgiving. There were five of us, all adults, all family. It…read moreis an adorable place. We had the upstairs of the house. Self-entry was very easy. There is one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and then there is a loft with a double bed. The ladder goes straight up to the loft. Getting up to the loft is not for the faint of heart. Three of the adults were in their 50s, and two not in the best of shape, so there was no way we could get into the loft. The rest of us slept on the main level. There is also a blow-up bed that was easy to use. The bathroom was very nice. The kitchen had everything we needed. The garden was cute. My sister and I read out on the swing during the day and at night we all sat around the fire. We took our two dogs, also. We walked them a few times during the day around the neighborhood. There was some open space if you walk behind the house and then turn right at the next street. . The host, Shawn, was available whenever we needed him. For the breakfast part, due to Covid, you let them know beforehand what you want and Lily B&B leaves it in the kitchen and you make it yourself, which was fine with me. Shawn also makes an awesome quiche which we all enjoyed. We had a lot of fun. We've never gone away for Thanksgiving but we just might do it again next year.

The after party taco bar was a nice addition. Each of the cabins in the main barn had fast WiFi, AC units and clean bathrooms. Well, you're going to get it here, along with a complimentary bottle of wine and a house that is completely renovated and beautiful. Let me first state that we were the only ones booked for the weekend, so we basically had the run of the whole house. If you have a group totally three couples (or three rooms' worth), this house is ideal, and so reasonably priced. The pick up and drop off of the keys is relatively simple. We were also given directions and info packets of attractions in an envelope upon our arrival. The Mews is situated well off of the beaten path, and there are a chicken coop, goats, and pony within a stone's throw. Bring ear plugs. There is also a rooster. LOL. It's air-conditioned and shaded, and there are paths nearby for hiking. The bed was a new foam mattress and SO comfortable. Body pillows and comfy sheets...I could go on, but when we were supposed to be up and moving, we were still snug as a bug. I felt so appreciated as a customer while I was here. I can't recommend this place enough.

They are in the process of fully opening so the only room available for rent is called the Eagles Nest. It was a beautiful master suite with gigantic bathroom and a balcony overlooking the wooded property with all the amenities (including dog bowls and leashes!). We were greeted with a bottle of wine from local vineyard, Breaux, and a nice note from Gail, one of the managers. We were able to check in early, throw on some hiking clothes and hit up Ravens Rock for the afternoon before cleaning up and heading to dinner at Magnolia's at the Mill, a great restaurant located in the darling town of Purcellville, only a few minutes from the Inn. The best part of the trip were moments on the balcony, taking in nature's beauty and sipping wine. The next day we enjoyed our continental breakfast on the balcony and then picked up pumpkins nearby before going to the wineries. We literally didn't see a soul when we where there, even though an innkeeper lives on site, which was exactly what we wanted. For people looking to get away from it all, especially for those looking to escape DC, this is the place. I believe they are in the process of completely opening, so they had only one room available for rent. There will be two more available soon.

Featured in This Old House Magazine, this 18th Century log home has been lovingly restored with colonial detail and modern conveniences. It is a perfect private getaway, full of warmth and charm. Owners, Gina and Ted Blake are unbelievable hosts. The house sleeps five people comfortably, and includes a modern kitchen and (single) bathroom, as well as, central heat and air conditioning. The modern kitchen comes stocked with fresh fruit, coffee, eggs, cereals and other breakfast items - if you remain hungry at 11am, it's your own fault! The food and pantry are totally stocked with every need. Only thing, don't expect a oven... but there is a microwave. The kitchen otherwise comes with a full size refrigerator, stove top (with pans and pots), toaster and charcoal grill. We took our horse there, and enjoyed the facilities... as did our horse. She didn't want to get back on the trailer when it was time to leave! Bottom line: We're already planning to book again in a year.

It was a perfect end to our snowy Saturday! We drove up to the house all lit up under a blanket of snow and quickly were oohing and ahhing at the fantastic interior. Gina and Ted are friendly and laid-back, and the house itself is comfortable and cozy. The kitchen lacks an oven so we were glad we had planned to make a big pot of risotto for dinner, but they generously stock the fridge with breakfast foods--and we arrived to find a beautiful lemon cake, as well (Gina sometimes brings leftover stock from a nearby cake shop for guests of the cottage). The house sleeps five very comfortably--we were asked ahead of time whether we preferred 5 twins or 2 kings and a twin, which was really nice since we were five girls traveling together. There is only one bathroom, but it worked out fine, even with all females :) The central heat was great--we had anticipated a chilly old cottage but it was REALLY warm and cozy inside--the perfect spot for cooking together and playing Taboo :) We plan to go back next year (if not sooner). The ONLY thing that we really wished it had was a working fireplace--there is a fireplace but it does not appear to work. There's an outdoor fire pit, but there was too much snow to enjoy that the night we were there. So we made our s'mores with homemade marshmallows in the microwave :) The furnishings are quaint, the house is adorable, and the setting is beautiful. We opened the door in the morning to find Ted and Gina's dog sitting on the porch, and they came over and chatted with us while they fed the horses. They were extremely friendly, and told us to stay as long as we wanted since there were no guests the following night. If you stay, be sure to check out the photo album that documents them rebuilding the house--it's pretty amazing!
