This theater is located in the Wonderland mall, downstairs by the food court, in the old movie theater space once called The Bijou. How they've renovated the space to house quality theater now is impressive. This place is officially in our radar and we can't wait to experience another show.

The Bijou, which was known for showing more art and independent movies and served food, is now the Wonder Theater. The play was the Wiz and was pretty good as far as community theater goes. Many of the plays for this season's lineup are geared towards children and are affordable. The ticket prices were: $36.00 adults, $26.00 seniors and $18.00 students and children. The lobby, concession stand and seating area have been revamped, and a small stage has been added. Seating is fairly spacious, with new seats and a very clean theater. The lobby area is similar to the Bijou's, with a small full serve concession stand, selling popcorn and other goodies. This locale is worth a visit if you are partial to theater, regardless of it being Broadway or community. Many of the shows are from Friday to Sunday, and are great way to spend the afternoon/evening.

This is a cute little hole-in-the-wall, black box theater that brings an intimate look into the…read moretheatrical productions it produces. The theater itself is attached to the Woodlawn Theater and shares restroom facilities with the Woodlawn. Running a separate series of smaller shows, the Classic Theater offers a theater-in-the-round experience with the audience seated on all sides of the theater which can allow audience interaction with the professional cast. The seating is comfortable, but you'll need the intermission to get up and stretch your legs as the chairs can get a tad uncomfortable. The theater also allows no outside food or drinks, but does have water and wine for donation (at least this was during the show we attended). Overall, the cast was excellent in Midsummer Night's Dream. They brought a refreshing perspective and performance for Shakespeare's work, which truly showed why Shakespeare should be consumed in theatrical form rather than reading, and the acting was intimate and, yet, bombastic at the same time. The cast really showed skill and thought with each word spoken, and they brought the characters to life while leaving themselves behind. With the theater-in-the-round, they worked the entire room as well as made me feel that the show was put on solely for me. I had had that same sense of disbelief in quite a long time during a theatrical production. The quality of the production also showed. Even though it seemed like a relatively low budget affair, it wasn't lacking the quality of a truly great show. My husband and I are already planning our time back to enjoy another production and we look forward to becoming regular patrons of the arts at the Classic.

Let me start this review with the most important piece of information: if you are looking for…read moretraditional dance classes for your child this is NOT the place for you. If you are looking for a studio to do Competition Cheer and Dance, you've found your home. My daughter has been in dance since she was 3. This was our 6th year and 6th recital. This was our first year with Jen's Dance Spot. My first impression of Jen was that she seemed a little rude and very particular about everything. As the year progressed I found her to be surprisingly disorganized. In the weeks leading up to the recital she sent out numerous mass emails with recital announcements, each email rambled on and on with new information. In order to get the information I needed for the day of the recital I had to shuffle through all of the emails because each one included a separate important detail. Had Jen been more cohesive and organized she could have easily streamlined all the info together into one weekly email instead of blowing up my inbox. Jen scheduled the recital for Mother's Day. Everything about the recital was disorganized and frustrating. I felt she was not being respectful with our time. I spent hours getting my dancer ready at home before leaving for the recital. We ended up being at the auditorium for 4+ hours. Jen ended the recital with 10 mins of her Competition Cheer and Dance team. They were absolutely amazing and totally wowed everyone. You can tell that this is what this studio specializes in and that this is where Jen's passion lies. I do not believe Jen's emphasis and passion is on traditional dance. I feel sad about spending a year here. My daughter is an amazing ballet and tap dancer. I believe the year we spent at Jen's did not add anything to my daughters overall dance skill level and it did not challenge or develop her in any way. In my opinion Jen is using her studio as a direct gateway to get new recruits for Competition Cheer and Dance. As a business woman I tip my hat to her and I hope she excels at this goal. As a mother who spent an entire year taking my daughter to dance lessons and has just spent my entire Mother's Day centered around a dance recital that had minimal effort put into it, I can emphatically say, I will not be attending this studio next year. I would caution anyone who is considering enrolling in a dance class to skip Jen's Dance Spot and instead try Trilogy, San Antonio Dance Academy, or Dorthy Keck.

A number is called and the computer finds it on all of your 66 cards and marks it. All you have to do is pay attention and tell out if you hit a bingo. A session is just about an hour. Four games are played within that hour. A morning session and an afternoon session. If you played both sessions, you'd start about 11:30am and be done by 2:30pm. Cheap entertainment. Doors open at 9-9:30. Why, I don't know. First session starts at 11:30am. Early bird about 11:20am. In between the main bingo games, they have runners trying to sell you smaller quick games for $1 and up, depending on the game. Not bingo per se, but little games for cash or computers. Hard to explain. But the people eat them up. I bought a $1 game. Two rows of numbers hit one from each column, you win $125. Would be a great return. Fun. Only the concession stand was not open, but it did look like people brought their own snacks and drinks.

I guess they have to make up for the low attendance at night someway. So basically if you are there to play computers this is the spot. If you like to play big money pull tabs this is not the spot for you. I do get lucky at this spot so I gotta give them 5 stars.
