Also if you report fraud charges they don't refuse it , they charge it cancel hour card and you pay it anyway! This is the worst bank i have EVER dealt with. judt lock me out with no money. When i was scammed i paid 8k in bank fees. They said because it was a third world country they could do nothing So i lost that money plus paid 8k in bank fees.

Had an account with this bank for 5 years & just tried to order a new bank card for the second…read moretime. The first time, I got all the way through giving the lady who answered the phone all of my account information, only to find my account was negative & I'd have to wait--okay, I get that because they pay for the card somehow--gotta be through my account, right? Today, I was told that I have to come down with ID to order a new card. I work nights & have since I opened this account. When other banks have websites you can deposit checks with by taking a pic with your phone, do I really have to come down in person with ID just to get a new debit card? This isn't the first time I've been disappointed by the lack of service. I pay exorbitant amounts in overage charges, so I'm certain they'll be sorry to see me go. How about a reason now & again to want to stay? I don't think this bank has EVER done anything for me except make money off of me--I certainly have gained nothing myself from this business relationship.

I've taken a couple small personal loans as I build my (young) credit and it's been a breeze every time. Easy locations (both Charleston and St. Albans) and great customer service. My first big transaction with them was a secured loan to purchase my car. I wanted to build some credit history so we set up a loan that used my savings as collateral. Determined an APR, set up the loan, set up auto-pay, got the certified check, and I was out the door. The online banking makes it easy to watch and easy to move funds around between your accounts. I would like some improvement in terms of utility bill payments and mobile apps but that's all extra. Their systems don't seem to be compatible with Mint or Credit Karma. The only negative experience was when I went back a few years ago to open a small personal loan. The loan officer was different from last time. She looked my credit up, which included an agency called ChexSystems. She saw a red flag on the ChexSystems report, and there was an immediate attitude change as she printed it off and shooed me out the door. No explanation, no discussion, like I was a bankruptcy waiting to happen. Well apparently City National had a typo resulting in my SSN on someone else's overdrawn and abandoned checking account. I fixed it, came back and met with the OTHER loan officer, and everything was easy and simple like the time before. I absolutely understand not wanting to open an account when I was flagged in the system... but the way that particular loan officer handled it was very unprofessional. I don't remember the name but would strongly suggest that anyone who runs into that as well, not be deterred because Star really is a fantastic bank. I plan to consider them for my first mortgage and fully expect a positive experience.
