We were in the process of looking at existing homes and even considering building a custom home. We were already pre-approved with a local lender, but just weren't happy with the options he was recommending to us. I went out to lending tree and submitted a request for proposals. Initially, our phone/emails were flooded with messages from probably 15 different lenders. However, First Ohio's response to me was very different and seemed so genuine. Calling them was the best decision we made throughout this process. Kemp Taylor was our mortgage banker and we were so impressed with his knowledge and responsiveness right from the start. Kemp gave us a variety of options that our prior lender never bothered to explore. He was so knowledgeable and professional throughout the entire process. He made us feel like we were his #1 priority, always responded to calls and emails promptly, and even worked on our loan after hours (and made himself available to us after hours). I'm sure the new regulations make this process even more painstaking, but we would have never known it. Kemp was so calm and made everything so simple. We never had to worry or wonder where we were in the process. Even at our closing, my realtor commented on how great Kemp was. Hands down, this was the BEST home buying experience for us (this is our 3rd home). I will not hesitate to call Kemp in the future and have recommended him to friends and family. I recently got an FHA loan through this mortgage company and it has been the most pointlessly…read morestressful, waste of time service I have ever utilized. I will never use them again and I will be refinancing as soon as I possibly can. The biggest issue is that they needed to make sure the house was up to certain codes. Completely understandable as part of the FHA loan. The part that is not understandable is them sending in an inspector, the inspector reporting back and costing me around $300. The inspector pointed out two things. I got those things fixed within a day with the help of my amazing realtor. The inspector went back a couple days later. Costing another $300. At this point the inspector sees that we have fixed things but then points out three other things that need fixed! This indicates that they did not do their job correctly in the first place or they are trying to scam me for hundreds of dollars while I am spending thousands on a house! So we fix all of that stuff and the inspector goes in again. This time they point out another thing. Just wasting my time and money. The inspector then leaves the country for a week with no previous indication or communication. So it pushed back my closing by almost an entire month while I was on a deadline to renovate and move in. I didn't get any renovations complete before I had to move in thanks to this terrible company. I do not know if their inspections are outsourced but it has ruined any chance of me ever getting a mortgage through them again and I will be refinancing with someone else ASAP. Terrible service. Terrible communication. Waste of around a thousand + dollars. Will never use again. Beware this company is not a service that will help you. They will exploit you wherever they can.
