There is a great neighbourhood vibe in this place and people drop by to say hi when they walk by and Sara always has a kind word and a smile for everyone. I have had some nice trims from Sara and she has added streaks for me. SHe even custom mixes North American colours with some she has shipped over from Iran to get something unique for me. She will stay open later if you need her to and is always accessible to her clients. I would recommend Niloo as a friendly, local spot where you are never pushed to buy expensive hair products (in fact, she doesn't even sell them!)

Overall, I was very happy with the service and the cut that I received. I got there on time but I was told that there is a delay, and would be another 15 min wait, I didn't mind, and waited. 15 min later, the receptionist came to me again and apologized bc it would be a further 15 min or so, i then found out that one of their hair dressers got sick and could not work, so it was understandable. I was looking at the different hair style mags they had and 15 min went by quickly. Finally it was my turn, and the hair dresser I got was Chloe. I was undecided about what i wanted, i had wanted a change, but was nervous about too drastic of a change at the same time. I consulted Chloe, and she could understand my concern, so she suggested that I keep the lenghth, and she was going to layer my fine hair to give it some volume, and give me some side bangs to frame my face. By the time she got to me, she was the only stylist working at that time, and there were already several customers waiting.. I was worried that she might just rush through me to get to the other customers, but to my surprise, she didn't do that, she not only cut and layered my hair carefully, paying attention to detail the entire time, she even styled my hair nicely to give it a great finished look. She then asked me softly and unclearly if I wanted the front of my hair to be short (she did not really say it; she made hand gesture which was confusing). I told her no and that I wanted the hairstyle from the photo. She said she knew but she could not see the front of the hairstyle. She did not need to see the front in order to know how to cut the hair. Every hairstylist is able to cut the hair exactly like the hairstyle in the photo. Then her husband came and said, 'Let me put some protection." I did not know what he meant but he grabbed the towel with the clips and put them around my neck. Then he directed me to the back to wash my hair. I was surprised because when I called to make the appointment for haircut, I asked for the female hairstylist. Also, the area for washing hair was dirty. Then he pressed my head using his palm to make me lie down on the seat. I was appalled with his gesture because he did not need to touch me; he could have just told me. So I said, "Please don't press my head." The he called his wife to come over. I told them that I asked for the female hairstylist when I called to make the appointment. They acted like they did not know. I did not know if they took down the appointments. He seemed ignorant of how inappropriate he was. When she was washing my hair, she used the boar bristle hair brush to comb my hair without asking me first. Usually, the hairstylists would just use their hands to wash hair. I did not know why she would comb my hair while washing my hair, and her shirt kept touching my face as she moved. Imagine how that feels like. Her husband came to sweep around us while she was cutting my hair. Usually, people sweep after the customers depart. Then a woman with a kid came in and the female hairstylist chatted with them while cutting my hair. This was rude. The female hairstylist kept pulling my hair very strongly to the back which made me moved backward. No hairstylist does that because it makes people uncomfortable. Then she told her husband to bring out the 'charger'. It was a flat iron. The she used the flat iron to curl my hair without asking me first, and I did not want my hair to be curled. It turned out that my hairstyle was not the same as the photo - the hair was not straight, and the shape changed from a 'U' to a 'V' with the point at the bottom moved to the right side. So I asked her to cut it into a 'U' shape. Then she asked me to stand up for her to cut my hair. No hairstylist would ask customer to do that because it is disrespectful. I asked her why do I need to stand up? She said so she would be able to see my hair clearly. That was not true. Every hairstylist is able to see the hair clearly with the customers sitting on the chair. Then I said, "I do not need my hair cut" and I planned to leave. She then asked me to sit down. Then she cut my hair into a mini 'W' with the right side of my hair higher than the left side as the photo shown (the photo with brown shirt). She gave me a different hairstyle than the one that I wanted. I told her about the 'W' of my hair and she said, 'It's because you are moving your hair.' Then her husband demanded my sister, who was sitting beside me, to take a photo of my hair to help me. This old Chinese couple (the owners) tried to make us look stupid because I knew that they did not give me the haircut that I wanted. The husband told his wife not to remove the black cape yet after she cut my hair so it would be easier to see my hairstyle. It was not true; it was actually more difficult to see the hairstyle with the black cape on due to the wrinkles of the cape. I asked the female hairstylist to take off the cape for me. She held the mirror for me to see my hairstyle, but I could not see it from her angle so she gave me the mirror and let me hold it. When I tried to see my hair in the mirror, she kept brushing my hair with her hands. That means she did not want me to check the hair. Then she told her husband to get the 'charger.' I said, "I don't want the haircut' and I went to the counter and paid. Her husband, who was standing beside the counter, did not tell me the total price and he did not show me the receipt. So I needed to ask him. We tipped them and left. P.S. They were set in their ways (80s and 90s - certificates on the wall) and would not align with industry standards. They looked down on young people (unless you know them) due to the conservative Chinese culture.
