dont know what all the hype is about this place...its just a plain barbershop with a new owner for…read morelike couple yrs now. i live in the neighbourhood and have been coming here since it opened. the old owners are way better than the new one. the old ones ( persian brothers) would take the time to know you and chit chat about everything and make you feel like family. the new one is cold and stoic. very bland reception every time. plus he treats kids 10 and up like adults, so adults pricing...how can u say that a 12 yr kids hair is same as a 25 yr old? or someone with a hippie shoulder health hair. don't really mind the price increase to make his customers wait 1.5 or more for a cut with no apologies or anything is unreasonable. sometimes, his wife comes to help out but always seems to not be there when its the busiest time of the day. ive heard some one complain and all he did was shrug his shoulders. plus, if you dnt ask for a washroom, there is no sign to point you there. and if you leave your spot to find a washroom somewhere else, say good bye to your spot. the old owners knew when to kick it up a notch in speed of service but still managed to provide quality cuts. too bad they moved back east. now, didnt matter if there is like a 5 person line-up or 10 person line up..,service is same. slow and full of mindless chatter. only bring my son here as it is close to me. i personally get my cut else where. every time i come here i waste at least 2 hrs of my life just waiting....

It's difficult to ever get cut with the same person (if you find a good barber) because they rotate different barbers through from time to time. Finally found one that I liked, but he moved to a different location (Cambie). But I won't be back after today's debacle: Got a pretty terrible haircut (the barber cut my sideburn in half on one side, shaving off most of my natural hairline and leaving me with a strip of a sideburn), and even left portions of uncut hair behind my ears. I asked to have the owner try to fix the mistakes, but when I went back, the owner (who was really friendly) didn't acknowledge that the haircut was a problem, and only did a few quick buzzes before announcing "there!" Only problem is, despite both sides now matching, I still have just a really bizarre and crappy $30 haircut.

Mr. Hobbs was open for business at 10am. We were at the shop at 10:10am and already there was a gentleman getting his hair cut by Mr. Hobbs. It's a first-come-first-serve basis and no appointments are taken which is very fair! The shop was decorated quite quaintly and very British. The barber chair was super cushiony, a football match was going on between Liverpool FC and some other team. I loved the view of the street while I was in the shop. We waited for about 10 minutes before Mr. Hobbs was available. The Boy wanted a totally different haircut. Mr. Hobbs gave suggestions and after some quiet discussion, Mr. Hobbs diligently and precisely went to work. Watching Mr. Hobbs give a haircut is like watching an artist paint a blank canvas. I urge you to notice how he holds his scisscors and buzzer - very unique. The Boy was 100% satisfied after the cut was complete and was smiling from face to face the whole day. We went for lunch and walked around Granville and by the time we passed by Mr. Hobbs' shop again, all the waiting chairs were full of gentleman waiting for their haircuts. The Boy has already penciled in when his next visit to Mr. Hobbs will be. He was beyond impressed!
