Signed up my son for a SAT/ACT class. The website was very hard to navigate and confusing. Come on,…read morethis is 2014, your IT dept should be on top of this. Signing up for the class should generate an email for confirmation but it did not. As a result, we were in the dark about when & where the classes were held until I called a month before the classes began. They said an email will be generated the closer we got to the date. Again, we didn't get an email and we showed up at the Davis office on the day it should start and no one was there! After calling around for 30 mins I finally contacted someone in their Berkeley office to tell me it was canceled due to low enrollment. What? Thanks for telling me. We checked my son's call history and they did call once but left no vm. Also, I as the parent didn't get a call nor an email. For their credit (reason they got a one star), they were apologetic and tried to offer us tutoring instead but I'm not confident in their company enough to try them again. My recommendation: stay away. Unless they turn things around and become more consistent & reliable, you are taking a chance. I checked their reviews at their Berkeley office and several other parents had the same issues.

You have the option of a strictly online course, an in class course or both. I took both the online and in class course. It was very helpful because I always had access to each lesson online if I needed to review a lesson. The class is about 4hrs so your bound to space off at some point and this is where the online videos come in handy. I also had to miss a couple of classes but again I was able to see the lessons online. The course material for the LSAT is dense regardless of what prep course you take! However, the humor in the books, online course and the in class instructors make for a fun learning environment. My favorite thing about this course is how learnable they make the material out to be. They have a lot of resources to help students out and do whatever they can to help. My instructor Daniel was very down to earth, friendly and knew exactly what he was doing. I never felt intimidated to ask him to explain something again or in a different manor. My score increased by +14 points so I'm very happy with the experience and result after taking the course. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants to increase their score. p.s. Do the homework! It's how you'll increase your score and It will make your experience much better.

I took the Spring 2016 Blueprint Prep Course with Kyran and took the exam in June. The Blueprint…read morematerial as well as online platform is extremely accessible, helpful, and clear. It was truly a fun experience taking the course, which made it a lot easier to study for the test. The material, classes, and online site: Classes for me were on Davis campus, which was awesome because I am a student so I spend most of my time on campus anyways. My class was smaller, but this allowed for better interaction with the teacher and also allowed me to bond with classmates and create friendships with likeminded individuals. The hard copy books are great. They are so organized, clear, and succinct in their respective lessons and also toss in a good amount of humor which helps students have a little bit of a better time studying the difficult material. They take you through each question type quickly but cover the material thoroughly and in a manner which helps students successfully remember all of the information. Online site is equally great. There are video, pdf, and subtitled explanations for each question, along with explanations for each answer. They tell you why an answer is correct, and why another answer is incorrect. I found that understanding why an answer is incorrect is equally, if not more important, than knowing why one is correct, and blueprint is very effective in assisting in that area. There are online lessons, practice sets, practice exams, and of course the homework, all readily available online along with on an app for phones. So accommodating and helpful. Very long story short: Amazing material. Amazing class. The teacher: Kyran is awesome. I would highly recommend taking a class with her if you are in the Davis area. She truly dedicates so much of her time to her students and genuinely cares about whether or not they understand the material. Her concern for her students extends well beyond the classroom and she is extremely responsive to any questions that her students have as well as generous with her time and effort. In class she makes sure to get to know each of her students and creates a fun atmosphere through her witty, somewhat dry (sorry Kyran), but always well intentioned sense of humor. I genuinely looked forward to class and she made the material easy to understand and fun to learn. I will say, however, that her sense of humor is not for the weak at heart. All good fun, but she will not hesitate to engage in a debate with anyone who presents one. Kyran really does a great job juggling teaching difficult material in a timely manner along with ensuring her students are doing okay and are understanding the material. She knows her stuff, and is a wonderful teacher and individual. Cons: As the online site was fairly new when I was taking the course, there were a few glitches. But they were promptly addressed and fixed. Also, all of the homework is online which was somewhat tiring on the eyes (especially for the long and tedious reading comp sections). But at the end of the day, that's all personal preference. Long story short: If I could take Blueprint over again, I would in a heartbeat. It is engaging, fun, and effective. Max has a ton of resources available besides your own textbook and homework. For example I struggled with topics in calculus 2 that were foundational steps from pre-cal and calc 1 - thankfully Max had pdf textbooks and resources for pre cal and calc 1 that he could easily share with me so I didn't have to waste time searching on google or YouTube for help. When I first met Max I was feeling very overwhelmed, embarrassed, and severely lacked confidence in math. After having a few sessions with him I noticed how supportive he was and how much he genuinely cared about me understanding the material even if it took hours and multiple tries for me to understand it. He never made me feel judged or less than and that was one of the best feelings. The style of tutoring that I did with max was Monday Wednesday Fridays for 1 hour each on zoom. I would listen to my calc 2 lectures & work on the homework problems and when I came a across a topic/problem that I struggled with I would clearly identify what I was confused about. Then after I identified the issue I would email max a detailed explanation of why I was struggling with this specific problem and I would attach a screenshot of my attempted work on the problem. This style of tutoring worked tremendously well for me! Because I would clearly tell max what exact problems/topics I wanted to go over ahead of time we were able to maximize each tutoring sessions together! Max is not the type of tutor who is going to do your homework for you - so if that is what you are looking for then I'm sorry. But if you are a hard worker, genuinely try each problem, take good notes, and care to learn then Max is the tutor for you :) I failed calc 2 with a D in fall 2020 semester. I re-took it in spring 2021 semester with having Max as my tutor and I finished with a 95% in the class. My daughter, who has been coming to Mathnasium for over a year now, is absolutely thriving! She is…read morean advanced student who is now more than year ahead of her peers. I appreciate that the Mathnasium approach allows each child to progress at their own pace, independent of any cohort. I am so thankful that it allows my child to fulfill her full math potential. When a new student arrives at the Mathnasium, the director will have them take an assessment. Based on that assessment, the student is given an individual program tailored to their needs. The center allows students to have their tutoring sessions at the center, at home through a video call combined with a special software, or both. I found that the tutors are attentive, knowledgeable, and available when students need assistance or need to have their answers checked. I find the math program itself superior to anything I experienced in school and other materials that I have seen. It teaches for understanding instead of memorization, so children can figure out solutions without necessarily being given a way to solve a problem. The materials show the same kind of a problem from different angles, so children learn to recognize the best approach to tackle it. Another strength of the Mathnasium is the ability to customize student's materials. Each set of problems on a particular subject is a in separate packet and depending on different factors those packets can be shuffled to achieve a certain goal. For example, the director looks to make sure that students don't have dense problems on one page after another. She dilutes some of the harder topics with lighter materials from the student's plan. If staff see that a student is stuck, there is always flexibility to make changes. Conversely, if it is clear that a student mastered a subject before completing the entire packet on that subject, staff allows the student to skip pages. The new owner, Shamiran, who took over the center in June of 2024 made numerous improvements that made our experience at the Mathnasium so much better. She ensures that children are progressing and are given extra individual attention where needed. She also keeps kids excited about completing their work through a great selection of prices in the prize cabinet. I doubt we get our money's worth on an hourly/monthly basis because there are just days they are closed when our student can make it. Recently, I dropped my student off at 310 and the staff signed her in at "300." They then told her time was up at 30 mins was up at 330. WTF?
