*IN RESPONSE TO OUR NEGATIVE REVIEW: Mr. & Mrs. Richard Allin - We are a professional painting company. Pete and I have been in the business a combined 32 years. Our customers praise our work and flexibility. I only wish I could post pictures to this thread to show the before and after photos of how nice the space turned out. Pete and I spent 2.5 hours at your 4000sq.ft home. Yes, we did "heckle" you for a down payment, as you stated you wanted to start the next day. And since you waited to the last minute to finally make the deposit, after trying to negotiate your own payment schedule, we had to make other plans for the remainder of the week. And while you weren't excited for the delay, you were agreeable because again, you wanted the project completed asap. Yes, there were some things that I personally missed. Rooms that had not been calculated. However, every detail in memory and in my notes, was laid out in your estimate for your review. At that time, it was not brought to our attention that the bathroom and closet were missing from the estimate. There is no breach of contract because there is no binding agreement. We were only paid for the completed work. Down payments are for initial material and labor cost. Our progress payments are made to cover costs incurred. The final payment is not made until the end and used as a protection to the HOMEOWNER, in case there is an issue with the work. Additionally, we sent pictures each day. You continued to add on items, which as I personally explained, would add labor cost. But to avoid argument, we agreed to do the add-ons anyway, at no cost. Even after you insulted us and said if it was "too painful for us" you would do it yourself. Even when we sent the photos and/or videos daily, you stated that you were pleased with the work. We have all the texts, photos and videos to back our story and WILL present them to our future clients upon request. We had been doing our best to meet your needs within reason. Your continued attacks on our work, knowledge, business practices and competency, is insulting. It's very unfair to tell a contractor how you will pay them and how to do their job. This said, we did terminate the project because it was clear you had a vendetta against us when we mutually agreed to remove the flooring project. We didn't even want to drop the whole flooring project. It was broken into sections and since we could not come to agreeable terms on the poly section, YOU revoked everything except the painting in your basement which we had already started. It wasn't that we didn't listen. It was a genuine miss on a huge project. You called us "overpriced" but we negotiated and dropped the cost of the estimate before invoicing you. We are very saddened and disappointed it has come to this. Never once have we walked off a worksite mid-work. read more

I recently purchased a home in Newfane, VT. Old country farm home at about 4000sf. I had contacted several painting companies but was pleased with the detailed estimate from Fine Finish (although not the lowest bid) but you get what you pay for. I appreciated the communication and responsiveness of the owners, and their professionalism upon meeting them. I also had my estimate the same day which is almost unheard of. AND they were able to fit me in in a very timely manner which sealed the deal! They recently completed 4 large rooms in my home and I am having them back to do the siding this summer! Definitely happy to work with this company and well worth meeting with them. read more
