I usually have a layover of several hours and on a trip in 2011 discovered this shop and Doug and Joe Ross it's proprietors. This is a men's wear store like the ones I remember from years ago. Friendly, expert advice and service and an outstanding inventory. Joe and Doig have become friends and I have stopped shopping elsewhere, which may seem extraordinary since I live 800 miles away, but this is an extraordinary place. I have never failed to find what I was looking for there, from shoes to hats, shirts,and dress slacks. Their excellent taste and judgment are on display, reflected in menswear that is stylish, wearable, and practical. I used to avoid shopping for clothes, with the possible exception of Nordstrom's, a Seattle company with a national reputation, until I wandered into Cavalier. Now I look forward to visits. I don't always buy a lot but I always enjoy the visit, and more importantly I trust their judgment. If they recommend clothing or a style or color I know it will be complimentary to me and a good value. This is a destination store, worth traveling a ways to reach.

This is a cute little place to browse books in an ordered chaos. There are second hand and new…read morebooks here, and if you bring your own books, you can get credit to exchange them for a book here. There is a small place for banned books/books which have been banned, encased in a little cabinet that makes it feel more like you are reading clandestinely. There is a little tea corner in which the owner will sell you tea in bulk or by the cup. The ginseng oolong was okay, but my favorites were the Missoula and birdsong.
