I really underestimated this place. After spending some time in the Baccarat Lounge smoking a cigar and snacking on some light bites, steak sounded really good. I've heard great things about Finestra so we decided to give it a shot and satisfy some steak cravings considering it had been a couple weeks since I had a steak. The Baccarat lounge was able to make a reservation and we walked up and got seated right away. The biggest mistake I had was thinking I can just come to Finestra for a little steak because I had no idea that it was a whole experience. After ordering my mocktail, they put out an elaborate bread service with all kinds of breads with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. They then presented an amuse bouche which was delicious and an exciting preview of the dinner to come. I opted for something simple which was the lobster pasta in red sauce and got a steak to share. The pasta was divine! It had huge chunks of lobster and the red sauce really balanced out the shellfish. The steak was cooked to perfection and it was so satisfying especially after having been in the Philippines for 2 weeks without a bite of steak. Ed, our waitstaff, was super helpful and patient with all of our needs and questions. In the future I'll know to reserve Finestra as an experience that should be planned and looked forward to because I didn't give it the time and stomach space that it deserved. I will definitely need to do this one over and do it right!

I'm not sure why this place has such low stars? The food was delicious and service was excellent. I am that person who orders fish at the steakhouse, but honestly my sister even said my fish was better than her meat! I had a taste of the meat, which they say is USDA quality. We have this in abundance at home, and I am a filet type, which they didn't have here. Either way, being across the world, they have decent options. I thought we had a great meal, with the exception of the price. This is the type of place you'd come for a celebration, which we did. We celebrated a few things: moms birthdays and newlyweds! They brought out desserts and pushed out a chocolate/truffle cart which we got to pick out. That was fun!

Out of all the restaurants in Solaire, Finestra is the only one where I've dined only a handful of times... like probably less than 10. I love my pizza and my pasta, but I think i've been predisposed to really good pizza that's also very affordable. Finestra is a place you'd take someone to impress them, if not with the food, with the very elegant and classy interior design. The high ceilings are a tad bit overwhelming (At least with Red Lantern, their neighbour, the big "red lanterns" help with minimizing the space.) The tables are actually spaced quite far apart as well, and really lends to that feeling of intimacy. Their bar is the BOMB, though. If you're drinking in Solaire, I would recommend here instead of the Eclipse or Dragon bar. (It's funny, the bartenders have this accent? Or way of projecting their voice that sounds nice but also kind of strange.) Apart from that, though, I don't find anything special with their food. I quite like their cheese platter (that has figs and some nuts), but then again, that's cheese. I also like their burrata. Again, cheese. (Maybe you should just order everything that has cheese?) I think it would be better if you go late nights (sometime 9 PM onwards) for their pizza and beer combo. So pricey though! One pizza would set you back 800+ pesos. Yikes!

Yellow Cab makes a decent NYC style, Foldable, and consistent pizza. They're a national chain and…read moreI've had it on different islands and different locations and there's no deviation from the texture, tastes and ingredients. The pizzas are not overly heavy and I can easily eat an entire pizza, if I wanted to but I usually have about 4 slices because I'd like to eat other things whilst here in the Philippines. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was BOGO on this particular day so in addition to getting my favorite (Shrimp with garlic), I opted for the BBQ Chicken as my free pizza. The shrimp and garlic was perfect as always but I'd like to suggest that they have fried crispy garlic in a shaker, that would make it extra namit (tasty). That's also why I love Italian food so much, it's the garlic. I'm a chicken breast snob and the random chicken meat on the BBQ chicken was not hitting the spot, so I'd probably skip that next time. Yellow cab does a good job competing with Sabarros, Pizza Hut and Shakey's here. Now if someone opened up a Pequod's, Lou's or Giordano's in the Philippines - they would kick butt because no one would even come close.

Got the pizza within 15 minutes after that. It could have been good if it was hot. It wasn't even warm. Tasted so so. Had a consistency of rubber. Will pass on Yellow Cab next time. There's better pizzas out there.

For full disclosure, the main reason why we ended up having dinner here was because Carlo, my…read morebrother and I needed WiFi really bad that night! Chilis' WiFi was busted and most of the restaurants in the vicinity did not provide WiFi; Coffee shops were packed. So, when they told us that they have WiFi, we sat ourselves down! Looking at the menu, we were not sure what to order because we were hesitant to try anything (talk about judging a restaurant by it's menu, right?). We all zoned in on one dish: Loaded Fresh Mashed Potatoes. This is what caught our eye, "served up hot and buttery, covered with creamy cheese sauce, loaded with crumbled bacon and topped with green onions." We decided to try it, though we were still not fully sold at this point. Order arrives and we were not expecting much...until the first spoonful. OMG! Hands down! One of the BEST mashed potatoes I've eaten in a very long time! Buttery, cheesy, bacon-y!!! So good! Totally unexpected! We decided to order their Banger and Mash (because we wanted more mashed potato), the Casa Suprema Pizza and, a wild card, the Breakfast Pizza. The Banger and Mash was very good; I liked the gravy too. The Casa Suprema was heavy with toppings; taste-wise, it was so so. Now, the Breakfast Pizza was, in my head, a very good idea that wasn't executed well because of one ingredient, the maple syrup. It was all over the pizza and just made everything just too sticky sweet. :( Overall, this was an unexpected find in SM MOA. I will try their fried chicken in my next visit. Again, Mashed potatoes = AMAZING!!!
