We're staying around the corner and while riding in a Grab, I happened to see a sign that said - - Brick Oven Pizza. After searching online for a pizza parlor in the neighborhood, I found Gino's Brick Oven Pizza. Being from Connecticut, where there are a lot of brick oven pizza joints, we had to try it. A couple of weeks passed & off we went. It's not a large restaurant off a side street; probably about 40 or seats or so. The menu is not the largest, but it looked pretty good. We settled for Margherita with Fresh Mozzarella Pizza, Stuffed Chicken w/pasta, an order of bread, and a pitcher of freshly squeezed calamansi juice. Pizza: surprisingly, it's good. Definitely brick oven cooked because of the way it was toasted on the bottom - - there was a slightly charred taste . . . Nice!!! Also the outside of the crust was nice and soft on the inside. Fresh mozzarella was a treat. We not huge on basil, but their amount was perfect!!! Good pie!!! Stuff Chicken w/Pasta: the pasta was cooked perfectly and had some oil & cheese on it. The chicken was stuffed with sausage and had a cream sauce over it. The crust on the chicken was crisp and delicious. The sausage was a tad salty - - but we in the Philippines. All in all, it was good - - not as good as the pizza, though. Tip of the Day #1: get a pitcher of Calamansi Juice . . . It's sweet & sour . . . PERFECT!!! Tip of the Day #2: they have this spicy honey on the table that they suggest you sprinkle on the pizza. No thanks, but order some bread (15 or 20 pesos) & dunk this bread in some spicy honey - - winner!!! They sell the spicy honey for about 350 pesos. Enjoy.

We started with burrata and house salad. With nuts and Parmesan cheese Love the salted egg pasta. Unique flavor but it works :) serving might be a bit small but you could always order extra SMEGG pizza is a brick oven pizza with shiitake mushrooms and egg. It's great with their signature spicy honey. I love this even with just plain bread :)

This has got to be my favorite pizza place for the year, and well maybe 2014 too! They've got awesome pizzas, pastas and salads that I can never get enough of. Note that you can call the branch you want to order from so that if you want to take out some food, you just have to pick it up! I love ALL their pizzas, but if you ask me what my favorites are it would include the following... Prosciutto, Bianca Verde, and their BOMB Pizza (Balsamic Onions, Mozzarella, Mushrooms and blue cheese).. For their salads and appetizers, I absolutely love their Burrata Caprese (MUST TRY, YOU CANNOT HAVE A MEAL AT GINO'S AND NOT ORDER THIS), and their very VERY delicious Ricotta with Fried Bread! My day is always a whole lot brighter and better whenever I decide to have a meal here.. especially with family :)

What? Chocolate Chicharon? Come off it!

Yo so what the heck is a burrata? Everyone's raving and loving about this pillowy, doughy thing when I don't even know what it is. When I finally tried their burrata summer salad (with freshly squeezed dalandan! oh by gods is that heavenly!) I knew I was in love. Apparently, a burrata is a kind of cheese that's similar to mozarella in taste and texture, but so much more. It adds another dimension to a simple salad-- and you can even eat in on its own! The salad is pricey, at 400++ but well worth your money, if you want to go for something simple and refreshingly delicious, especially in this country's weather. You never go wrong with Gino's pizzas. My absolute favorites are the buffalo chicken (don't forget to slather on their free chili honey) and the smegg (what, an egg on the pizza? GET OUT). The only thing I don't like about their pizzas are that the centers are consistently soggy (an ailment of most brick oven pizzas, I suppose). As for the pizza, my salted egg loving self will heartily recommend trying their salted egg pasta! It's like a carbonara only-- you guessed it right-- with salted egg yolks as the main ingredient. I love it so much that I've already recreated it in my kitchen several times, whenever I get a craving for Gino's. ;) And for the dessert? DEAR LORD, I don't even know what Gino's makers were thinking of when they crafted a CHOCOLATE COVERED CHICHARON (read: deep fried pork rind) but it's a heavenly minute on your lips (and a lifetime on your hips). Were they high? Were they stoned? Probably yes but it's just about the most GENIUS thing I've eaten from that. Tip though, you probably shouldn't finish one whole serving unless you want to get lowered into an early grave...

    Burrata, their must-try starter!

This cosy restaurant is a hype in Salcedo Village, Makati. It's always full and the chances of entering the waiting list are very high. Sounds boring, right? Just give it a chance. I guarantee the food really worths every second in line. Well, I'm a pizza-lover. That means I've been searching for the best pizza in town since I moved to Manila, 5 months ago. Gino's one is definitelly the best I've found. As the restaurant's name suggests, the pizza is cooked in a brick oven, what gives it a soft and crispy texture. Forget about those Pizza Hut style. Pizza here sounds really artisanal. Every ingredient is carefully chosen and everything is very fresh. I highly recommend the Prosciutto Pizza, the Bianca Verde and the Pesto Mushroom. Don't forget to try their spicy honey to boost your pizza. It has a really particular taste and you'll only find it there at Gino's. One thing I observe whenever I go there is the filipino tradition to order one pizza and one pasta to share among all the group. I must confess I appreciate this filipino feeling of share! When I go there with my husband, we always order the prosciutto pizza together with a Bolognese or a Pesto pasta. We've also tried the Lemon Mushroom fettucine and the Carbonara pasta. Both were creamy and tasty. I suggest starting your meal with the Burrata, their best-seller. It's served with pieces of freshly baked bread. As I love greens, I always order it with a House Salad (mixed greens with balsamic dressing) or a Summer Salad (greens, prosciutto, dalandan dressing). They're so fresh and go perfectly with the burrata. To drink, get a pitcher of Calamansi Juice and then you'll have a true filipino-italian gastronomic experience. I must say the service is also very good. The staff is always smiling and they work to make you feel comfortable. To avoid waiting, it's better to have a reservation before trying Gino's on peak hours. One of THE best Italian places in Manila! Their salted egg pasta was delicious. For all the dessert lovers, their Nutella Soup is a MUST TRY! It's served in a bread bowl (check out the picture.) My overall experience at Gino's was definitely a carb overload but it was SO worth it #NoRegrets!

Wow! Great service... these guys were fun and the service was quick. All I have to say is take a look at the dessert menu. Nutella soup in a bread bowl. The women next to us didn't leave even a morsel of their dessert left.

Burrata, burrata, burrata! I can't stop thinking about the Burrata (buffalo cheese) I ate in Gino's. I've been looking for an affordable Italian restaurant - this place is just perfect. The set up is very casual. The food here is memorable! It's usually packed at night so I suggest to go here earlier than 7pm. I remember the pizzas more than the pastas so I'll suggest what pizza flavors to order. First order of business, definitely get a plate of Burrata. And then, get the SMEGG pizza. It has homemade sausage, mushroom, eggs, gouda, and cream. They're very generous with their toppings so watch out, they might be spilling over you. That pizza is something else. For a second pizza, you can get Bianca Verde (olive oil, garlic, kesong puti, ricotta, parmesan, basil, arugula). Good news, you can even take out a pizza if you're not full yet! You should definitely come back to Gino's for another night out!

Not bad pizza at all. I would only hope for a possible thin crust base option. However it was a delightful pizza none the less.

So imagine how surprised I was to find that 3M Pizza still existed, and they actually kind of rebranded the entire business. Needless to say, the 3M Pizza of today tastes nothing like the 3M Pizza of 10 years ago, when I was a kid. And that's a really, really good thing, because I'm pretty sure that thanks to my fabulously discerning palette (lol, I really don't have one of these) I probably wouldn't like the cardboard again. So 3M Pizza now makes food that tastes distinctly like homemade, but surprisingly professional pizza. It's fairly cheap, with solo pizzas costing just P55 to P70 depending on the flavor, but worth the price. The pizza itself tastes really good. It's about as thick as a cracker with a nice crunch, and the toppings, cheese and tomato sauce are just right. The way that their graphics, boxes and food seems to present itself screams "we are the next generation of cheap homemade Filipino pizza" thanks to their flat design sensibility. So while it isn't exactly the same fond childhood memory, it's probably better than those memories. It's a pleasant surprise.

But then again, I just came from riding (and screaming on top of) the ferris wheel. When I was in Sherwood Place with a friend a couple of months ago, I was able to retry 3M Pizza. We tried the Supreme Pizza in medium and gosh were we wrong. We should have ordered the mega one since it's too good! For people who don't have an appetite like us, you could opt for the mini ones that would only cost around 55-90 pesos depending on the flavor. The best part? It's right beside Starr's. Order a pizza and a milkshake and you got yourself a wonderful cheat meal!

Motorino is located in the Greenbelt Mall and I definitely get lost trying to find it. This mall is huge! Since I was feeding 5 people, I got to pick an array of pizzas! We started with the Classic Marghertia! Look at the joy in my uncle's face! The pizza was quiet good. I wish it had more sauce and cheese, but the crust was on point. The sauce is a bit sweeter, but I honestly think everything is sweeter in the Philippines. We also ordered the Soppressata Piccante (personal favorite!) which had Fior Di Latte, soppressata, chilies and topped with oregano. My cousin ordered the 4 cheese with Fior Di Latte, Pecorino, Gorgonzola and Provolone. It was so cheese-y. My brother also ordered the calzone which was the table favorite. Inside they stuffed it with Ricotta, American Bacon and spinach. It wasn't as cheese gooey as I was expecting though, but ricotta will do that for you. You can hear my disappointment. Haha but it was still pretty good. At roughly 600 pesos a pie which is about $12 a pie, it's not bad. $12 a pie is the US is a steal, but for the Philippines, it's quiet expensive. Thank God I'm American!

A nice open kitchen is the restaurant's highlight along with smell of fresh dough wafting through the air greets you. Doesn't hurt that their staff is very welcoming. Nice, clean and hip interiors give that KPop vibe. Okay, it's established this chain seems like a big deal in Korea but could their eccentric food combinations be a hit with the local palate? Turns out it does! The menu is very inventive. Would want to return and try out the different crust options like the sweet potato filled edge. Food was served fairly fast at 10 minutes even when the waiter said about 15-20 mins. The Bulgogi pizza had great dough. Not too dense, right amount of crisp and not yeasty nor oily. Oozing with cheese too! Asked for a bit of gochujang, really a good pairing. One regular sized pie does it for two hungry people. Another eyebrow raising dish was the Seafood kimchi oven baked spaghetti. I found it interesting. Think of your regular pomodoro loaded with flavor, more cheese and bounty of the sea. Really works. Last weekend, my wife and I walked over to Greenbelt to beat the summer afternoon heat. She noticed a sign that says a certain Mr. Pizza has open up in Greenbelt 3. A true blue pizza lover, my wife took my hand and wasted no time going to the place. At first, I had no idea that Mr. Pizza was a Korean pizzeria. But when we entered the brightly lit eating place and I saw this mesmerizing all-female K-Pop group dancing on the giant wall screen, plus all the staff shouting some unfamiliar greetings as they bowed down, I immediately realized Mr. Pizza is not a local brand. They have round leather-bound menus. Inside the menu pages, they have embedded the approximate sizes of their pizzas so customers know how big or small their orders will be when served. Very functional. We tried two of their pizzas. First, the Mr. Pizza Combo. This is their classic version, topped with crumbled meat, corn kernels, bacon, olives, and bell peppers. The second was the thin-crust Crab Cream. Now this was a literally sweet pizza. Apart from the shredded kani sticks, it's topped with sugar. Sweet tooths will love the Crab Cream pizza. Overall, Mr. Pizza was a unique experience for us. Next time, we'll try the Seafood Island 2 with real shrimp tempura and the Potato Gold, which came highly recommended by our attendant.
