Nicely set up with the finest English dishes and excellent hot teas. A perfect selection of afternoon tea scrummies, calm and peaceful. A love story behind the property told nicely by the servers as you sip. Highly suggest you try this if you're not in the mood for the main garden attraction offered in town! Gorgeous.

There is also a trail suitable for wheelchairs and other assistive devices. This is not a really large garden, but very well designed and laid out. The variety of species is fantastic and the flowering blossoms are everywhere. The tea itself is a different story as I'm a bit of a tea snob. There are no menus or choices for sandwiches or type of tea. I found the tea sandwiches to be dry and stale bread. Being a tea snob, I also prefer private seatings instead of 8 strangers at a table all reaching into the same tower of sandwiches for choices you didn't get to make. Non Europeans just don't understand the finer points of tea. This 'European seating' of strangers sharing a table works for western ideas of pubs, not for an afternoon tea. Five stars for the garden. 2 stars for the stale sandwiches and tepid unknown tea with no cozies or leaves strainers or spoons or choices...

Scones - cheddar and currant, profiteroles, sandwiches, tiny tarts, chocolates, creme brulee, and you get a big pot of your choice of tea. Don't miss the gift shop! (Full disclosure - I couldn't eat here with my food allergy to corn and carrageenan but my friends could and my server graciously allowed me to drink a pot of tea and watch others eat the food. I loved the tea so much - royal Abakhazi - that I bought 2 tins of it.)

The grounds are gorgeous and lovingly maintained--it felt like stepping into a hidden oasis. We were especially lucky to catch a rare lily in bloom during our visit, which made the garden stroll even more special. The tea house itself is quaint, but charming in its simplicity. We ordered high tea for three and spent a leisurely afternoon savoring bites alongside the house black tea blend, which was smooth and fragrant. What added an extra layer of richness to the experience was learning the incredible family story of the Abkhazis. It's fascinating and makes the visit feel truly meaningful. ** Donations to support the gardens are requested upon entry. I recommended carrying some cash to drop into the collection box. They take American dollars as well. For anyone looking for a peaceful escape, delicious high tea, and a touch of history, I definitely recommend a trip to the Abkhazi gardens!

The exterior alone is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in British Columbia. During the day, the grand dome, and maintained grounds make it feel like something you'd expect to find in a Europe than in BC. I highly recommend taking one of the free guided tours. Stepping inside reveals craftsmanship with soaring ceilings, beautiful woodwork and historic artwork. The tours are informative without feeling overwhelming and offer a fascinating look into both British Columbia's political history and the building itself. One of my favourite aspects of the tour was seeing the various royal connections and items related to the monarchy. As someone who enjoys learning about the Royal Family, I loved seeing portraits and hearing stories about visits from members of the royal family over the years. I honestly think it becomes magical at night. When all of the lights illuminate the exterior, the entire building seems to glow against the harbour. It feels almost storybook-like.

Review #1 for 2026 I…read morewas determined to go to the Parliament buildings when we did a day trip to Victoria from Vancouver. The building itself is huge from the outside and does feel a bit smaller on the inside, but it is beautiful! They do free tours and I was afraid we would not be able to catch a tour, but during the summer, they do tours everyday of the week! The tour tickets are first come first serve. We managed to get tickets for the 12pm tour the day we were there. You just go towards the entrance and there will be volunteers passing out tour tickets for the next available tour. The tours are all done by volunteers. The parliament buildings are part of British history and now used for government business. We had roughly 30 minutes before our tour. So we went and took pictures around the outside of the building. To get the entire building, you have to take a picture from the sidewalk since the building is so big. There is a water fountain in front of the building as well as across the street. There is also a massive totem pole near the building. The tour was filled with information. Make sure you go to the bathroom before they start the tour. I think the tour is about an hour long, but it flew by as all of it was so interesting and there was so much so see. I enjoyed the tour. There is a gift shop at the end of the tour. The gift shop is TINY! I ended up getting some pins as I collect them and I also bought some Parlia-Mints! Get it? HAHA. My husband loved it and had a good laugh. I think I should had gotten some more to hand out to people when I got home. It came in a cute metal container. Apparently there is also a cafe here which I would had liked to try but it was not open when we were there. Also at night, the buildings are lit up. We had to leave before the lights came on as we had a ferry to catch back to Vancouver, but the pictures I have seen look absolutely stunning. Would I come back? Yes I would! I would love to see the buildings all lit up at night... and of course I have to buy some more of those ParliaMints!!

We hired Green Image to help us get the gardens ready for spring planting and level out and seed the existing grass. Austin came out and we talked through the project and he told me how many bags of each type of soil I would need. We also had some treated landscape timbers installed. We bought our materials on sale and contacted Austin when everything was ready for the project. Because the only access to our backyard in through our house, Hayden (Austin's associate) had to move 20 bags of soil (20L and 50L) from my car through the house and into the backyard. Hayden did a wonderful job. Very polite, knowledgeable, conscientious and was in early morning and out by mid-afternoon. I will be working with Austin in the Spring to decide what to plant and have Green Image do the work. I also have plans to expand the garden in the front of the house and will definitely be consulting with Austin to do this work as well. Quality work!
