+.5 for service I went here during Fried Chicken Fest, which honestly felt like a long time ago now. I haven't been able to write a review until now as I've had a backlog of reviews to do. Kind of a dark ambiance here, somewhat set up like for people going for a date night. I've been to this one and the Regent location, and this branch definitely felt more open concept. This place had the Spicy, Sticky Guinness-glazed Fried Chicken Sandwich for their special this year, so I tried that. Pretty good, although as you can see in the photo the bun was way bigger than the chicken pieces. It was definitely sticky, though spicy not so much. Didn't really feel a lot of the bacon jam, but I did like the chicken thighs they used in terms of its juiciness, which ultimately is what you come for during Fried Chicken Fest. Service was good and efficient, we were attended to the entire time. Not a place I'd frequently visit, but I think it's worth a return. read more

The staff at the Grant Park location, Ashley in particular (who is a top tier server), are always friendly and fun to talk with, making the dining experience even more pleasant. I have yet to try something on the menu that I don't like. I would like to start a petition to keep the Wagyu gyoza salad on the menu permanently. I have never consumed anything so completely delectable in my entire life. The heat of the spices paired with the freshness of the little chunks of pineapple is delightful and the texture of the noodles with the texture of the gyoza is a fun adventure for the mouth. No notes. 10/10, will definitely eat this (and here) again. read more

Ordered the two piece fish dinner online last night.Order came quickly,dinner consisted of two large battered fish with fries and coleslaw.I will start with the two sides, coleslaw was horrid,no flavor at all very bland, no slaw sauce.Fries were average nothing special. The large battered fillets the main course,lightly battered,on the menu the type of fish wasn't mentioned, but definitely not cod or haddock. The ambiance here was really relaxing and inviting. I loved the real life musician playing on his guitar and singing songs on the small stage inside the restaurant. What a cool scene! Plus the waitresses were nice and decent. My friend loved his Chicken Bacon sandwich. He said the chicken was tender and juicy and the sauce was delicious. I decided to try the Rhubarb Strawberry syrup in an ice tea drink and it was super interesting. A bit minty, and a wincy bit tart and sweet at the same time. My meal was good but not outstanding. I love poke bowls but this one was just averagely good, nothing stood out. The Ahi Tuna was super tasty but everything else was just "meh". I need to say how amazing dinner was last night and how happy I am to have tried a new place tonight. So here is my story from tonight we had made a reservation for 7 we arrived at 6:30 were seated and drink order taken and delivered by 6:40 place was very busy but wow perfect then our food order was getting placed they had a $55 dinner for 2 which was awesome so I asked for ribs keep in mind it is 6:40 the waitress says the ribs won't be ready until 7 so we say that's fine no problem as we were getting an appetizer with our meals. 5 mins after our order was placed in the manager came over to apologize that the steak my husband ordered would take an hour as they ran out and they needed to defrost and prepare more there was 3 other choices husband could of chose from he asked for a burger manager said yes she would substitute it in for sure and apologized again. No big deal as the burger wasn't even part of the meal. We also ordered the extra $5.00 side with our meal husband had shrimp I had chicken wings. They brought us out our food. So good my ribs were fall off the bone good. Then we got our dessert I got the chocolate cake so good and not super sweet. The waitress says we are also going to give you a second dessert because you guys had to wait. So we took a cheese cake home. Then came bill time I thought okay it would be about $80. Not bad it comes in at 68 and change the waitress says so because we didn't have what you guys wanted and you had to wait we charged everything as $55 plus my alcohol drink. I was shocked husbands burger was substituted in for the price of $55. What should have been an extra charge for $10 was comped the extra dessert which was $10 comped and on top of all of that they also gave us a $10 off coupon for next time we come in. I am so blown away at the service and food I will definitely go back. Oh and to end the night we were finished and out at 8:05 so unsure why they thought it took a long time but it was amazing. read more

Without a doubt my favourite place to go in Winnipeg with friends. No matter what meal I choose, I have enjoyed every bite. I love their fish & chips as do most of my group that we go with. We hit up Fionn's on July 1 to celebrate four of us being totally vaccinated. Our waitress was fabulous, my Stella Artois was wonderfully cold and our meals were delicious. It was awesome for Jay to come out and say hi to all of us. We had to compliment him on the patio reno and the new "beer gardens". We tried different dishes this time. Two of us loved the Guinness Steak & Mushroom Bowl. My friend had the Cajun Chick'N Penne and another chicken fingers and fries. Not one complaint about anything. Fionn's follows all the new health regulations which we appreciate. I can't wait to go back. read more

This was my first time at this restaurant and my meal did nothing to entice me back. I had the Chicken Quesadilla and it was THE worst I have ever had! It was so dry that I thought it was leftover from the day before. I was with a group of people and when the wait staff asked if everything was okay one lady in our group very quickly said "yes" and the staff person left without checking with others at the table. The vegetables on the burger (8 shreds of lettuce and a floppy tomato slice) were older than Fort Garry hotel. The salad was like a DQ blizzard, turned it upside down and it didn't move. Vegan phish was cardboard with a hint of grease and beef. Rubber shoes have a better texture. Fries were decent. read more

The server Averie was very nice and gave great selection advice.I had the Salmon Bowl and White Chocolate cheesecake with Toffee Sauce.Delicious and just what the Dr.ordered.!!!! My husband, adult son and I enjoyed our after movie meal at Fionn's on Grant Ave. I was impressed that my vaccination card was checked along with my ID. I ordered their veggie burger with a salad and it was amazing: the abundance of veggies on the salad was impressive. My two men said they both enjoyed their meals. We will be back. read more

We ordered a large meal. They unfortunately missed items. The deep fried chicken sandwich was chewy and very oily. Obviously the deep fryer was too cold. The waffle fries were soggy. The vegan chicken fingers were like cardboard. The salmon bowl was terrible. The portions were so small! The $20 Cobb salad was a small side salad. No avocados or corn. All in all there is no way we would go back and would definitely not recommend this to friends! read more

Beyond disappointed with the service. Finished a water waiting 25 minutes after she was sitting down and chatting with tables to get a second one. The outdoor seating is beyond uncomfortable, waited 50 minutes for burgers and fries, frozen French fries and frozen burger patties filled with grease beyond disgusting I will make sure to steer people away from this place I've never had a worse experience at a restaurant if you want frozen burgers just go to Mac Donald's. read more

Went in on Thursday, just before seeing the new Solo movie. There's a decent beer selection on tap. I noticed one review mentioned how they have "so many" but I guess that's being used to going out in Winnipeg where places have five options. Service was alright. We ordered appetizers and they honestly took forever. Way too long for a few appetizers that are just frozen and popped in the deep fryer. I ate here not long after it opened. I chose a time of day that wasn't very busy, but it didn't seem to matter. The food was slow, cold and slopped together. However, I heard there had recently been some changes and the original "chef" was no longer in charge so I gave it another chance. Complete 180!!! The shepherd's pie was amazing! Lots of fun the first week they opened. Good food, a fresh menu and some very tasty dishes done in unique ways. Service was okay and the bar staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Second visit ... Fionn Not-So-Cool. Service was slow, and the main courses came out long before we had even gotten part way through our appetizers. Inexcusable. So do you let your main course get cold, the appetizer dishes get cold or just waste the money on the appetizers? Third visit ... we waited on the patio for 15 minutes. No one came. We left. Fourth (and final visit) on July 26 was the worst. Every table on the patio was full of uncleared dishes. We tried to find the least filthy table, but the service was slow again. It's like we were somehow invisible, which is remarkable because there were only a dozen customers out there at the time. The server was friendly when she finally got there but we had to ask for drink and food menus. Her attitude was that we were an inconvenience more than a table of customers. Sadly, the menu she gave us had virtually nothing on it. There were a couple of appetizers and two pages of drinks. When we asked the server, she told us the kitchen now closes at 10:30. We couldn't even get a burger. (This was not 2:15 in the morning. This was 11 o'clock at night!) So what happened to all the interesting dishes? Who knows. Apparently, all you can get after 10:30 at night is chicken wings. (Lord knows how they are cooked if the kitchen is closed.) Again, we just got up and left. This franchise needs to rethink its marketplace, SERIOUSLY ramp up its customer service skills, teach servers how to pace appetizers and main courses, and get their staff to understand the importance of cleanliness. I cannot possibly overemphasize how inexcusable it is to have your main course come to the table before you have barely touched your appetizers, and how unappealing it looks when you walk out onto the patio and find dirty dishes everywhere. Before we moved to Vancouver, we lived in Winnipeg for many years and nobody goes to a bar/restaurant if you can't get food service after 10:30PM. Nobody. Not that my friends will care anymore. Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice; shame on me. Fool me three times ... and we never come back. read more

Had the Lamb Pie. I suspect someone took it out of a freezer and stuck it in a microwave. "Soggy" would be the mot juste. As for the lamb, I'd like to say they must have waved one over the concoction, but, in fact, I did manage to find a few tiny gristly, fatty pieces of lamb tucked under the damp pastry. Perhaps they should bill it as 'Mutton Pie'. Truly a disgrace to meat pies. And a disgrace to traditional pub grub. But I suspect the clientele, to whom this corporate faux pub is marketed and who, now that they are 19, are enjoying a restaurant a step up from McDonald's, probably find the place terribly ... We looked the menu options before we decided to eat here and we Happy to see all the gluten free options. When we ordered we were so disappointed! All gluten free bread and buns were unavailable. Then I ordered the gluten free pasta dish and they were out of that too! They were very unapologetic!! Will not return to this restaurant read more

Ehhh..went here twice. First experience was ok, nothing really over the top. Second experience was the worst, the waitress first asked us how our food was but it clearly looked like we haven't even eaten the food yet, seems like she was just asking just to ask just to do it and not really caring. Then she came back and asked us again while we clearly had just taken a bite and couldn't talk at all and she just walked away after we nodded our heads. She asked again a few minutes later and we said everything tastes fine (which in fact, was true. I'll give them that). Another girl came in and just took my plate without asking (really rude)but after all that I decided that the waitress did not do anything for me to tip her because I felt that McDonald's gave way better customer service and they don't even have an option to be tipped. When I got the bill and chose the tab "None" in "Tip", she literally scrunched my receipt and walked away. That was where it was a little bit much, just the smallest attitude and arrogance made a huge difference. Never coming back here again. read more
