This was a pretty well run DUI checkpoint. But I don't recall seeing the huge orange sign warning people that there's a DUI Check ahead. But as I got closer, I was pretty sure it wasn't a free carwash with all the police cars all lined up. The officer asked to see my driver's license and that's all. I was quickly waved thru, and it was done. Pretty straight forward, no looking inside your vehicle with flashlights.

I have enrolled my son (6) in a few of their programs over the last two years. Overall, I would…read moresay the programs are a hit and miss. The Smart Tots programs was very good, minus the food choices made for the children (see below regarding the food). He liked his ice skating classes (although that was administered by Belmont Iceland staff) and the chemistry class he just finished. I enrolled him in a hip hop class and that was abysmal. It was 45 minutes of the kids standing around. The staff was trying to teach these kids a full-blown routine (age 5-7, really?). Yeah, that went over well. The kids stand there and start looking at the ceiling, dreaming about the ice cream vending machine and Pokemon and, in the end, they receive little to no exercise or fun. The big issue I have with SCPR is the food the instructors are choosing to serve these kids. Hey, I am ok with a mini-cupcake or a little treat at the end of the week/program, but these people.... HOLY COW! Here is the snack menu for the chemistry camp for this past week: Monday: Granola Bar and Capri Sun (not the best, but ok) Tuesday: "Trail Mix" (consisting of gummi candy, nuts, M&Ms, & Skittles) Wednesday: Oreos (3) Thursday: Pepsi (with refills) and watermelon Friday: Cake Now, the camp did issue a snack schedule, but a traditional trail mix consisting of nuts, raisins, and a few M&Ms is vastly different than the farce of the "trail mix" that was served. Maybe their trail mix is for the trail to the local dialysis clinic. Additionally, Pepsi was not on the schedule, nor was the cake. And in the Smart Tots program, there were a few days where the kids were giving cake or cupcakes AND candy AND juice. Thanks, those were some fun afternoons. I can maybe, perhaps, somewhere see where an underpaid summer instructor would just shove sugar bombs at the students, but the fact that after complaining, the management MADE EXCUSES when their mission statement includes "health and wellness" ... well, I just don't see that these people give a crap about the children they supposedly serve.

And it doesn't stop there Hula for Health, Pilates, Salsa dancing, Kayaking, Fencing. For those who are less active knitting, stained glass, photography, cooking & wine tasting too, the list goes on. They offer something for everyone, from the old to the young and young at heart. They even have programs for those with special needs. If you have some free time & a little extra cash check out the activity guide, even if you are not a San Carlos resident you are welcome.

Half of the library is dedicated to kids so there are a ton of kids and some young adult books. There is a decent selection of fiction and non fiction here, more than I was expecting for such a small branch library. I did find some interesting books and I was able to use the self checkout with no issues since I already had a Redwood City library card. They also had a small selection of newspapers and magazines as well!

This address is for the Schaberg branch, not the big main library downtown…read more We come here for baby storytime (2nd and 4th Saturday of the month) since it's the only one in Redwood City with weekend storytime for babies. The rest are all weekday mornings and probably geared towards the stay-at-home-mom crowd. The location is also local for us so we walk here when the weather is good. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood (West Roosevelt) and near a few businesses (a shopping center with one of our favorite Sushi places, Oh Baby Sushi, a mediocre Rite Aid and Key Market, a neighborhood grocery store that has very good bbq tri-tip sandwiches on the weekends). Parking is usually not a problem, even if you have to walk a little from parking near houses. Compared to the congested nightmare that is downtown, the parking situation here is easy peasy and best of all, free. Overall, the library is decent but small, as expected with a branch building. That said, there's a pretty big baby / kids section with tons of picture books on display and pretty good selections. The storytime lasts until the kids are tired of listening and they go through lots of books in one sitting. There is also a reading program here that logs books read (storytime readings count) and you get incentives for # of books read, such as meals at local businesses like the Old Spaghetti Factory. The downside to having a big children's section is loud children running around if you're trying to get quiet work done. Young adult novels are also plenty. If you have kids this would be a good place to bring them to kill some time and get hooked on reading. Adult / regular bookshelves are less plentiful here so if that's what you're looking for, you're better off at the downtown library or at the San Mateo city library -- both are huge in comparison and have way more seating / workspace.

There are times that her body succumbs to the complications and we require immediate assistance. The crew of three arrived promptly and were all very professional, courteous and treated us both with respect. My wife has collapsed veins from years of treatment and Ryan was able to become a "sharpshooter" and gain her IV access on the first try!! That is an impossible task that he did with good skill. The ambulance arrived and took her to the hospital, and we want to thank all the personnel for treating us so well. As a family member, it is the worse position to see your loved one suffer. When you know they are in good hands, you can breathe easier knowing good help is right at hand.. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH, Our community is very lucky to have such dedicated and professional first responders.

This was the nearest office for me at the time. I have learned my lesson to call the police at the time of the accident and to take many pictures and video of my interaction with the other party driving. A rear dash cam would have been helpful as well. In the panic of the accident, I also forgot to demand to see her drivers license even though I offered mine. She said she didn't have her auto insurance card. People are often not honest, cooperative, or responsible. Fortunately, I took a few identifying pics of her and her car and had her cell number. This Redwood City CHP office forwarded my report to the Oakland CHP office. Redwood City said to wait 7 or 8 business days before following up with Oakland.

The surgeon was so great that I've been up and around ever since. Meaning, I ignored all instructions to be conservative with movement. I paid the price for my ignorance. Today, I took my garbage can out to the curb. Tonight, I went out to retrieve it. Unfortunately, I tripped on my garage entrance, and fell on my knees. Thank the stars for cell phones. I called 911, and they quickly sent a crew of three men to my home. They got me up on my feet quickly, and helped me into my house. Very helpful, concerned, and professional. We've all seen the "I've fallen, and I can't get up ad." Dammit, now I'm in that bucket. These guys deserve 10 stars.
